FOR YOU ARE SHE

As the sun sets behind distant mountains
And darkness descends upon the wilderness,
Bounderies between man and nature become less clear.
    Then she appears
    Scattering visions of heavenly beauty
Through the light of a full moon.

As circles of moonlight surround her
Highlighting the beauty of her very soul
Swathed in shades of soft blue light
    Gently flowing through the twilight
Over the very edge of life itself
Softly howling so she can hear but never to fear.

    So gentle is the darkness
    Softly caressed by her beauty
Soaring in the night sky so graceful and serene
Gentle wings to carry her soul flowing through the night
On the loving breeze of darkness,as only darkness
Will ensure she returns safely to me.

For this is she,the one I love
She is with me now never more to leave
Returned to me from the darkness of life from above
Once taken given to the beauty of light causing me to grieve
Darkness now caresses me once again
With the love that once was mine
Gently easing the pain of loneliness.

As the darkness lifts and the warmth of her beauty
    Outshines the sun
The meaning of life is once again mine to hold,
Should I grasp it firmly with love
    Yet caress it with care
For loving her is life itself to me
Yet if I grsp it,this life I love,
Shall I once again lose this beauty which is SHE.

Not my cup of tea, but you haven't done all that much revision on it yet, right?  It's always sweet to hear about people writing things for births, deaths etc.  I've written a few myself.  big_smile

It would really be a shame if we all drank the same tea,at least you read it and it prvoked a reaction, unfortunately or fortunately for me I am not into revision I write what I write and then it is done.

I liked the poem but thought you were referring to a lost or a love about to be lost.

THANKS George, the poem  refers to who or whatever the reader wants it to for me the first thought was my grandaughter, then thoughts turned to the only woman I have ever loved,to me there is very little difference, whatever is written only the writer ever knows the true meaning,

Hi - just have to take issue with this - the writer only knows what they intended to mean, it means what the reader reads the words to say.  A lot of writing says more than the writer ever intended or knew they had written and many writers think they have said something which they have not.

I have to agree with northwestar, you should revise a little.  There is a thin line between a deeply meaningful poem and a bunch of platitudes.  My feeling is that there is a good poem in there, but maybe half as long.

alternate poet ,your comments are warmly recieved,I agree whatever is written is interpreted differently by every reader,if it wasn't then what would be the point,I just do not revise, what I write is what I write, most of my thoughts probably coincide with yours, life, but we interpret them differently
that is what makes it so worth living.keep up the good work,we may speak again.

I like the use of the moon in poetry.  I think it is beautiful to describe and carries a lot of spirituality of both the past and the future.  Very nice Poem.

Gigi2,it is so gratifying to know that people read the thoughts that we put to paper,if only one of those readers enjoys what is written then it is all worthwhile,I sincerely hope you enjoy your grandchild, they bring such joy and heartache and I am sure you will treasure every moment.  LIFE IS NOTHING WITHOUT THE ESSENCE OF LOVE.
