Earned $879 this Month

I have earned a payout of $879 for this month, from my account that is in Squidoo. Being a journalish, I didn't have enough time to make 'perfect' articles. I just let them stay there. I didn't earn anything in the first six months.

But something good happened after the Panda hit cleared up. I got $60 for one month. Then it steadily increased, and this month I did a pretty well salary for a hobby. I hope I can buy a lens-kit for my Nikon with that money. Anyway, it's pleasing to get rewarded for creative endeavors.

That's great! smile I have two lenses over there. I was wondering what articles do better on Squidoo? I have no idea what to put there. Any advice?

          @theraggededge

Don't you find the formatting more time consuming on Squidoo?

I much prefer the HP layout BUT looking at the traffic stats, Squidoo is definitely outperforming HP at the moment.

The only problem I find with their capsule is the lack of formatting. I can't highlight any words so it's kinda boring looking. But I think it's quite easy. As a matter of fact I thinks it's more straightforward to use than HP.

You can do more with it, as you can use HTML right in the module. I have a Firefox extension that allows me to highlight and carry out several basic HTML tasks automatically. It takes longer to build a lens than a hub, for sure, but ultimately, it has a better chance of earning for you. One of my lenses is three years old and has earned over $1500 since I first wrote it.

Well as I said, I did it as hobby and I poured content that I have firsthand experience with (in my case its journalism from an European viewpoint). I didn't have enough time to research what Squidoo likes or dislikes.

All I can say is that Squidoo doesn't like poetry and similar stuff. They are busy to provide content for Google. They need fleshy content.

Formatting has little to do with online articles, and making money with them. People who are looking for information via Google, doesn't care much whether articles look beautiful or not (as far as I've noticed). They are looking for the exact information.

Besides, we don't use Audi or Ferrari for mass-transport. We use buses.

"You may want to get to know some hubbers who will not judge you and tear you apart."

You have made a very interesting statement, fpherj48, one which accidentally reveals a dark side of this community. I don't know any civilized person who would have the need (and the mentality) to 'judge an internet stranger and tear him apart'. Even if there is any valid reason that calls for such behavior, most decent people would address the issue with objectivity, and would certainly not jump into behaving like a wild animal.

In my case, there was no valid reason whatsoever. Thank you.

Well it is a bit odd that you claim a payout for this month. Squidoo doesn't pay until the 12th - 15th. Also none of us have any idea of the amount until the actual payout. So you can see that your claim is somewhat questionable. To come to he HP forums to specifically boast about Squidoo earnings is weird - I haven't seen you making the same statement on the Squidoo forum, which would be the most natural and obvious place, yes?

I cannot see your reason for posting this information at all unless you wanted to encourage newbies - and if you really wanted to do that, then you would offer evidence. Your own words underline possible fakery, not the suspicions of others.

Speaking as one who does earn a fair amount on Squidoo, I know how much hard work, and how long it takes to build up a worthwhile 'stable' of lenses. I would never, ever tell people that it is easy or quick.

            And your point is?

I did not start a thread proclaiming my earnings. That response was to someone considering using Squidoo. I use the same name at Squidoo as I do here.

So, if you are wanting to encourage people, then be transparent. If you don't, your original post is pointless and worthless.

Neither you were questioned nor you 'proved' your 'claim'. On the other hand, you are pestering me with an inane request for proof. There should be a limit to hypocrisy.

This an interesting thread. I am sure Ultimater can appreciate that people are interested in seeing some evidence of his claim.
Most professional journalists may not reveal their sources but they do always back up there articles,
      and journalism, with fact/ facts.
An example of a fact would be your pen name on Squidoo.
By the way, people on Hubpages speak different languages and I would imagine someone with a degree in journalism ( yes, that is what you need to call yourself a journalist) would be able to appreciate the common language on this web site is English and be happy to engage in a debate. I know a lot of people on this site that do not claim to be qualified in any sort of way who utilise the English language as this is the best way to communicate on the web. Many of them are not native English speakers but show an excellent standard of writing. Most professional journalists I know also spell check a lot, and ensure their standard of writing is of high quality at all times. It must be professional pride.
On top of that most people that do well on line like to share their ideas for innovation, it is their professional pride. Hope you continue to do well however I have to be honest . . . the phrase nice person wrong planet springs to mind. People on Hubpages are mostly supportive and nice but I think you are a bit of a "agitator". As a matter of fact I find Hubpages one of the better online communites and all we ask is that you are nice to us, and as a professional journalist back up your facts. Leading from the front if you know what I mean. Live long and prosper Hubpages and lots of love and positive thoughts to all my fellow Hubbers. Me voy. Quero una cerveza muy pronto. Lots of hugs to all Hubbers on planet Hub. Annie

In a healthy community, people don't ask for evidence to believe others. When they ask, it signifies underlying mass neuroticism. I live in a small European country where we have little cities and people are, for the most part, loyal and trustworthy. I never encountered this type of hostility in my real life.

It's sad to see that people here find it so hard to trust each other, and have no shame to publicly display their madness for evidence.

I didn't claim anything in my opening post. I shared a true experience. It is open to interpretation. But don't expect that I shall nurse those diseased interpretations to make you happy.

In any healthy community people show the evidence.
        Check out theraggededge screenshoot.
Would you take a medicine without knowing that it would help you and not be dangerous to you? And actually you did claim something in your opening post. You claimed you earned a certain and amount and my friends here on Hubpages are asking for it to be substantiated.

Ultimater if you are a "journalist" then maybe you should run out and find an editor to check the grammer on your profile. "Working in the Berlin", What the hell does that mean?
In your post bragging about how much you earn, you change from a journalist to a "journalish" does that mean you are just kind of a journalist and that you have journalish tendencies?
"I did a pretty well salary for a hobby." Again what the hell does that mean?
for a journalish journalist you are a very poor writer and it is impossible to believe that you could earn 1 cent from your writing never mind over $800.
Now be a good boy, toddle off to somewhere else and tell your untruths to someone who may just believe you.....jimmy

"Working in the Berlin" surely contains a mistake. That's simply an extra insert and surely not a (deliberate) grammatical mistake.

I have previously said that I am a German and that my English may not be perfect. But ideas and concepts, and visual input and content organizations are also part of any writing endeavor. There are also a bunch of other aspects that makes a piece of writing interesting.

You people are some of the most uncivilized people that I have ever met. You don't have the slightest clue as how you should behave with a stranger. You love to play games the way children do in schools. You can't tolerate Squidoo (I wonder why) and anyone who earned there. But you are also selective about whom you would hate. I shared my experience here, so did many others.

Call a spade what it is.
The average UGC, evergreen or short, ought to be earning $2.40-$6.00 per day [10-25cents per/hour]. $876~$2,190 annual. If PPC program(s) are not producing this, then the program needs adjusting, content needs rebuilding or both. There are some outstanding literati on HP, Squid, Wiz and more, all raving over pennies per click. Ridiculous. If articles are scoring 85-90, with volumes of 20 to 100 pubs -or more- the average earnings for a content generator//writer should be low-end: $17,520 - $43,800; high-end: $87,600 -$219,000. Not at all surprising, these numbers reflect typical ebook//paperback sales volumes for units of 40,000 words or less in many cases.

What the OP essentially said was: in 7 months [180 days], their collective publications earned 20 cents per hour. If they have 10 pubs, each earned just 2 cents per hour. Yeats & Keating...
