Good morning ladies and gentlemen, I hope you all slept beautifully! In fact, this week’s WTI is all about sleep.

From herbal sleep pillows to heated socks to sleeping masks to contour pillows, there are a plethora of sleep aid items and products out there. What types of items do you recommend for getting the best night’s sleep? What are your top 5 types of blankets? Your 3 favorite pillow shapes? Which sheet fabrics do you find the most comfortable? Share your advice and tips for our new topic, Sleeping Comfortably.

Ideas for exceptional Hubs include DIY tutorials on making your own homemade sleep aids, instructions on how to use different types of sleep aids, and lists of best (and worst) sleep aid products.

To join in on this week's challenge by writing a Hub, follow these steps:

    1)    Stop by this week's Weekly Topic Inspiration Question.
    2)    Click the green "answer this question" button.
    3)     Instead of answering the question in short form, click the gray "make a Hub about it" button.
    4)    Give your Hub a title that follows our guidelines on crafting successful, competitive, search-friendly titles, which namely involves...

    A. Creating a title that is short and descriptive, matching what someone would type into a search engine when looking for information on the subject.
    B. Researching the keywords (the things people might type into search engines) by Googling them to make sure that the topic is not already extensively covered online and that you can beat the top results.
    C. Covering a subject about which you are particularly passionate- or in which you have unique, useful expertise.

    5)    Create good quality original content that hasn't been covered before.
    6)    Make sure the images you use are legally used and properly attributed so that your Hub has a chance of being selected as a Hub of the Day.
    7)    After you publish your Weekly Topic Inspiration Hub, come back to this Forum Discussion and post a link to your Hub with a brief description of what you wrote about and why.

For more information on the Weekly Topic Inspiration program, check out the Learning Center guide.

If you missed last week’s Weekly Topic Inspiration, you can find it here.

I've been wondering a lo about pillow shapes lately- and have recently discovered the joys of herb/seed-filled microwavable pillows. I'm really interested to see what Hubbers come up with!

I struggle with insomnia and have found that the scent of lavender works to help me fall asleep. My hub for this challenge is titled, "Three Ways to Use Lavender Plants and Essential Oils as a Sleep Aid". If you or someone you know has trouble falling asleep, I hope you find lavender to be a great solution.

Marlene, I have heard that it does work, though I found I am allergic to lavender and needed to find other remedies.  That is an absolutely great remedy for sleep aid!    I wish it were good for me too.  I had no choice but to find other solutions.  I look forward to reading your full hub!

Awesome! You can always publish for old WTI Topics if you don't finish in time too. We don't take down the old posts once we've started new ones. smile

I am working on two for this challenge. One is on disruptions and finding personal comfort to get a good night of sleep. The second one is trying to sleep comfortably through a sleep study.

My third one on sleep is separate from this challenge, but I thought it would be helpful to write about becoming a sleep tech.

Great topic for me. I am looking forward to sharing my experiences.

I'd be interested in any hubs about how to deal with sleep apnea for people that don't have access to healthcare.

I wrote a hub about different techniques for sleep insomnia, slightly different, and there was one product that was suggested for sleep apnea snoring.  It was offered from Amazon and it consisted of some nose pinching thing.  It actually reminded me of nose plugs that swimmers use.  How that helps a person with sleep apnea is beyond me.  It really is a medical issue, from my understanding, when the tongue rolls back as one sleeps causing a choking off of air.  Good luck to you with your search.

I will include some information in that area too. Sleep apnea needs medical attention, but you may find sleeping on one side reduces it or laying in a way that doesn't cut off the airway.

I wrote a hub on natural and effective remedies for having a better night's sleep and beating insomnia. I wrote in great depth about hops which are a wonder technique and can be easily purchased on amazon. Putting them into a bag with some lavender work wonders! They were featured on BBC by James Wong and have proven effective. Hops could be the solution for your sleep woes! I also covered extensively on The Yantra Mat, which has proven super-effective in Sweden and again, can be easily bought on amazon. The majority of people surveyed said they would use it regularly.
