      Mine is important.  It represents that life is eternal, without beginning and without end.  It's hard to see, but the inscription on the side says "CTR."  It means "Choose the Right."  To me this is the pinnacle precept of all personal progress in life and in the eternities.

      Mine is of the goddess Isis. I have always used the ID Isis since the internet started becoming popular almost 20 years ago. I am always fascinated with ancient history as well as I think that there are qualities of the goddess that I seem to also have when the moon gets full.

   I use an Avatar of myself because what you see is what you get. I don't know, I think I use a pic of myself very relaxed and open to represent who I am as a person. If I get uptight, I'll post a pic of Sigourney Weaver with her Alien buster gun..............

         Marcel I do think putting a real face to the articles tends to lend credibility to the author. I just take really crappy pictures so that is mostly why I do not use my own.

   My avatar isn't a picture of me, but more what I love. Since I am young, I figure I might as well start off on the safe side and not post my picture yet since I post some personal information about myself on my Hubs. It also helps people remember who I am- not many people have an avatar of a random book!

   I use my avatar because I am sharing a lot of very personal things and the anonymity helps me be honest. I wish to be as wise and enlightened as Buddha and try my best to live this way. I am only human though. Imperfect. This is my hope for progress.

    Hmmm...the spider changes occasionally...and EVERY SO OFTEN...the avatar is my eye with a bit of my red hair hanging over it.
    
    In a way the Spider is me. I've been TheGlassSpider online for almost fifteen years now (just in different places). The spider is symbolic for mothers (and I am a nurturing soul, even though I don't have my own kids). She's also the ruler of the web; she has many eyes and can see all sorts of things. People are afraid of her, even though most of the time she is harmless (but when she's not, she's lethal). The Spider is glass to represent her vulnerability and fragility, but I've never been able to find a pic of an actual Glass Spider or else I would use it--in the meantime, tarantulas are the most fragile of the spiders.
    
    There you go...a little peek into the mind of the Spider.

    I generally use pic's of myself, there are some sites where I use different avatars...it depends on the theme of the site and the mood being set.. The one I am using at the moment is of me taken by my friend while painting her place.

    most of the time my avatar is me ... i change them all the time because i get bored looking at the same one all the time ... my current avatar however is of dolphins swimming in the sunset because dolphins are my favorite creature and sunsets are my favorite thing.
    sometimes i change it to a pictures of something to do with breast cancer awareness because it is a cause near and dear to my heart.

    My avatar is always me, Ive had 4 since Ive been on here, I tend to change them every 20 hubs, Ive had one of me behind the steering wheel of my classic car, one of me posing with the evening sky blue behind me, and I had one of me clubbing but i didn't like that so that doesn't count most of my regulars and 102 followers recognise me because I rarely change mine I think
    
    I like my current one because that day I felt like the water crashing against my feet was washing my stresses away

    People say it adds credibility, and I don't doubt that.  Sometimes, though, even if you post your real picture people don't think it's you anyway (because so many people don't post real pictures). Then, too, there's the matter of people who write personal experiences.  My original reasons for the picture I use were that I didn't have a good web cam and don't have a scanner.  Besides, I thought my writing should stand on its own, separate from my appearance.  These days I'm pretty sick of the picture, but I'm concerned if I change it, it could affect my earnings.
    
    I chose it because it's the Earth - something all people have in common.  It's a pretty picture, so it "applies" to both sexes but has a feminine flavor to it.  It's transparent - something I like.  It's also generic enough to go with a variety of subjects I write about.  It's been up so long it's kind of starting to look "lifeless" to me, though, so I may see if I can come up with a real picture at some point.

    for me my avatar represents the eyes to my soul. It represents what I see the word through, and just one eye, because I do not always see eye to eye with myself.  I'm wearing my glasses because I have to wear my glasses when I read and write, but only then, which represents me as a Hubber.
