   I am opening this thread to say goodbye to one of hubpages favourite writers.

   This has been the best site for me and my pomes. I have had the best of times and the best followers of all. I am leaving because of this thread. Too late now. I can't believe they haven't deleted me yet, so I just wanted you all to know. All my love and peace to all. Charlie.

         A kinder, gentler HP could have waited awhile. People are human and do impulsive things sometimes. A 24 hour, let-me-think-about, like what we have when we delete a hub, cooling off period really would have been more appropriate.
         
         Besides, what about if/when a successful imposter instructs HP to close one of our own accounts?

            you do, if i remember correctly, get an email back from HP making sure it was you who deleted. Yoiu have to email them to delete your account in the first place, then you click yes delete me if you do in fact want to. It was a while ago when I did it so I could be mistaken/ it could be different now.
            
            Rash decisions are made all the time in that aspect and they almost always make their way back. I can cite several examples for you right now...
            
            I'm pretty sure no one could close your account without your knowledge uless they knew your email address and password and were able to get into it without your knowledge to respond back to HP. Seems like a lot of work LOL

               Thanks, I hope they put even more confirmation procedures in place.
               
               And have the absolute, final confirmation step take place after maybe even up to a week.
               
               Reality already punishes us enough; both for rashness and from the effects of actions by others.
