Did you know LaThing, that around 50% of all babies born in the industrialised world in year 2012, can expect to reach 100 years of age? I heard this a few weeks ago on a TV program. So this really does make 50ish the middle or middle-age ;-)

So at 55 in the USA, you are considered old-age? Because that is what follows middle-age. Life expectancy has almost doubled in the last 100 years. So it's a bit harsh in 2012 for anyone in the industrialised world to be considered 'old' at 55 yrs.
