   Who, or what, was the greatest influence on you to become a writer?
   
   Who or what made you decide to write? Was it a person, favorite author, hobby, lifestyle change, etc.

   Well, I've always had the passion to write. My first most inspirational writer was Brian Jacques, creator of the Redwall series. He made reading fun, and adventurous and lifelike, I just had to get involved with it. And also, my greatest influence was the great writer Tom Clancy, who combined my two favorite writing formats, description and modern realistic fiction thriller.

   My Grandad, who was always writing stories and poetry.
   I always remember his story of The Two Trees in the park having a conversation.
   The poem that I most remember as being the first peom I really wrote was inspired by a Tom Cruise movie and it was just one scene of a purple sky that was the inspiration.
   I have however changed what I wanted to do hundreds of times over the years, when I was little I wanted to be a train driver and my Dad bought me a train carriage that was on the NYMR. But no matter what else I have done I have always been writing.

   Because I have been to the spiritual mountain top,and the worth of it all is for the telling of it.Experiences,make for great evidence.It goes beyond theory....to confidence.That which can add a little comfort...a little joy...a little hope...and a little knowledge is worth thinking about writing down.There you are in a nut shell.

   I have always loved writing, or at least since I was a teen. Back then, it was mostly a way to escape a lonely reality. Later, love guided me to poetry; and again years later, both love and loneliness brought me back to writing. That sounds a bit pathetic but I have also a more cheerful side - or I think it is.
   
   Stories are great to listen to, or even to watch. My grandfather did not write, but he was a fantastic storyteller. I like to believe that I got that from him. I have way to go before I become a good/great storyteller, but I really enjoy coming up with them... my problem is that they often become lame as they move forward.
   
   In general, life has always made sure to inspire me and take up my pencil to write. The rest - authors such as Susanna Clarke or J.K. Rowling to name only two - did the encouraging/influencing part. Therefore, depending on how I feel, the style of a work varies from fiction to non-fiction.
   
   At this point, I guess everything is of great influence and what comes next is up to me.

   It grows to be passion as I find myself started to write. I have been consulting to others about my working life. Now I have time to write and try to contribute to others. It is an encouragement from my wife to start writing instead of just conversing with others. She said it is time that you put it down in words so others can benefit from what you know.

   I am a huge Ernest Hemingway fan...so he got me going the most....
   
   Have always been writing stories in my head...since I was a child(will hopefully get down to that book at some point..hehe)....but have to say, I just fell into writing and have not been able to get myself out of it.....damn awful career...lonely as all hell....and pays crap.....but when it grabs you and tell you that this is what you have to do....there is little you can do about it

    My mother, she used to write when she was happy, and she wrote when she was sad. She wrote when she couldn't find her voice.
    
    She would turn her songs into poetry, and music. When she sang her songs, I fell in love with the written word.
    
    She inspired me, and naturally I started out writing songs and poetry but in time I evolved and now I write for clients and I write for myself. I still like writing poetry and songs because when I do, I send them to her.
    
    It brings her a joy I cannot describe in words. Could you imagine? A writer who cannot describe her mother's joy.
    
    I like to think her joy transcends language.

    I didn't really understand that writing was a career. It was just something I did, like poetry. I read all the time and was more interested in writing stories I could enjoy for myself. I found that later other people enjoyed them too.

    Becoming an online writer is a prospective job for someone who want earn money, enlarge knowledge and having more friends.
    Online writer is a great job for me because it is a challenge for me to create income for my self.

    Childhood!
    My mom would always read me bedtime stories and it's so exciting to learn to read and write for the first time in school.  The child's mind is obsessed with making stories and painting pictures so I'm eager to renew that passion.

    I never had a desire to write when I was younger, in fact ....HATED Language Arts classes, then ended up teaching it?? Anyhow, I have always had a hard time expressing my feelings to people and I just recently found writing to be a great way to express your mood at the moment. So I guess, life in general motivated me.

    I have wanted to be a writer since the first time I fell in love with a book. I don't know a time when I didn't love to write. I use to write in journals, on napkins in spiral notebooks, during class, outside of class, when I should have been doing my homework. I identified with Anne from Anne of Green Gables - I was a girl with lots of imagination and that imagination had to go somewhere! I fell in love with reading after reading the Hobbit and soon found that I wanted to create worlds of my own. Now, I make my living writing, and I couldn't be happier.

    I believe J.K Rowling was a great impact in my writing career. Her detail and storytelling surpasses many other authors out there, even though I believe first-person would have been best for Harry Potter.

    My grandmother constantly encouraged me to read when I was younger. From there I developed a love of words. One of her greatest dreams was to see my name in print. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to fulfill that dream until after she passed on.

    I have always been an avid reader.  Writing papers in college was probably the most influencial for me as I had to learn how to be precise, to the point and write from my knowledge not carbon copy from my research.  I really enjoyed having someone read my papers and say " now that was really great".  I want them to understand what I was trying to say. It is one thing to have knowledge in your head and another to put it down on paper in a way that interests the reader.  I guess two things influenced me the most.  Reading books, magazines and then internet.  The second thing was writing my Research papers in college.

    My dad.  my dad writes song lyrics and poetry, which he says are one in the same.  he taught me to appreciate the written word by shoving the original classics down my throat at a young age.  He convinced me to read everything i could get my hands on, so it was a natural jump for me to write.  growing up you couldnt find me without a pen and paper.  there are pictures to prove this.    so i have to thank my dad for pushing me to be better, even when he tears my work down to pieces, he does it because he knows it can be better.  thanks dad.

    Life itself and my analysis of life.  I never invisioned myself a writer, however I began to have distinct thoughts on a variety of subjects.
    
    I have never taken a writing class at all - but I figured that I can write just as well as anybody else.

    Thank you Ms Coffee.  My Literature teacher in high school.  She forced us to write journals everyday.  I had been writing poetry from about nine years old, but when my grades skyrocketed, in high school, I could not stop writing.  Writing the journals made me appreciate everything about school and everyday life.  I found I could write about anything and my opinions and knowledge were legitimate and sometimes entertaining.

    My reason for writing was initially to find a way to making money. However, as that has not yet transpired to give me enough passive income - I wondered why I still do.
    
    The reason is similar to some of the reasons detailed in these answers but most of all I agree with one of the three that Javastone gave - and that is knowledge. When you read or watch television you can gain knowledge but it can be quickly forgotten. When you write and have to research it sticks and also enlightens you and dispells often what some call urban myths.

    My emotions. I am a person who is not very good at opening up to other people, so ever since I was little I have expressed myself through writing. It is through writing that I am able to open up and share myself.
