   It kind of depends on how rich.  I would help my family.  I would help children with disabilities, people who are homeless, people who are hungry.  There are so many things you can do to help other people!  If you could help other people wouldn't that be wonderful?  It would be like following Jesus, and  asking God what He would want you to do with the money.  Well after taxes of course.

   I have multiple invention ideas, many of which would improve the world as a whole, the first thing I would do is invest in protecting those ideas and bring them to the public. I am currently working on one of them, but the process is very expensive; and time consuming when you are doing all the footwork yourself.

   Keep the news to myself, buying what my home needs, helping my adult children, and aging parents.
   
   The money will simply be there when they need it.   Even my hubby of many years, is used to me " pulling it out of the hat", or having a "little, set back".
   
   My favorite charities would receive a bigger donation than I have been able to give in the past, and most certainly, would my church.
   
   
   No need for them to know of my windfall..............the announcement, would bring them out of the woodwork!

   Share my joy by building some shelters for the homeless as well as for monks. At least it will help those homeless to have a roof over their heads without feeling the cold outside. And for the monks, it will be a place where they can help giving prayers to save our souls.
   
   Next will be providing an opportunity for homeless to learn how to earn a living ... and many more other ideas along the way ...

    Realize that the government one way and another is going to confiscate most of it, so you either surrender by putting it into a bank where those pirates can get to it with ease, or you spirit it and yourself out of the country before they can.

    Pay off any debt that I owe, put aside some for investment and help out the charitable organizations I have been wanting to help forever, there are so many of them. I would also put aside some for my family.

    Pay off school loans and pay off my sisters school loans as well.  Fix up my boyfriend's mom's house because she deserves it and buy my aunt a new car because she deserves it as well ( they are both hard working women).  Then I'd keep the money and live as I am now, maybe invest my money  in a few ways that I already have in mind and then just live life normally and always have money as backup just in case.

    I guess the first thing I would do if I struck it rich would be to arrange for an orderly and very quiet transfer of the money into my bank account.  I would try to keep the news of my sudden fortune as secret as I could and would probably give to charity and family in a slow and steady way so as not to bring too much attention to myself.

    I would only tell my close family, because I wouldn't want all the attention that comes with striking it rich. Then, I would place the money into a savings account with a decent interest rate. Each year I would withdraw a certain amount of money and just live off that.

    Pay off my student loans, bills, and anything else that needs to be paid every month, for the rest of my life and put the rest in the bank.  I would also buy a big house and open a live in care center for special needs 18 and over so they have a safe and happy place to live.

    First pay off any debts that I owe. Second, put that stuff in a savings for a while and let it accumulate even more! It all depends on how much you got, but I have seen someone that had won the mega millions on television and he was accumulating right around 19,000 dollars per day in interest from the bank.

    The first thing to do is c.y.a, Cover your assets! Incorporate  into an LLC (limited Liability Corporation) so that in the event of a law suit your exposure is minimized.

    if it is possible then i m happiest man on the earth n as u said what the first thing u do....i know the man who suddenly struck by such a big amount is totally confuse what to do with these money...
    
    but if me firstly i fulfill all the dreams of my family...after that if some amount of money is remaining then thought about myself... because money is today but sure that it will be with you tomorrow..but u r is always with u in happiest n sandiest moment of u r life..
    
    first thing with this amount i buy for my self is my first wrangler jeep with royal Enfield..
    
    but dreams never some true..

    you have to first define what rich is, because to some it's just a state of mind as for my definition of rich (10M+) 50% would be contributed to rebuilding poverty stricken communities providing jobs, educational opportunities, better living facilities, etc. The other 50% (5M) would be split 3 ways. 1/3 directed towards real estate, 1/3 dedicated to stocks/forex etc, 1/3 for private use.

    Sit down and plan how to stay RICH!... Peoples first impulse is to go out and celebrate; get every single thing they have always wished to get but by the time they are done, they usually realize that half the money is gone and they have more bills to pay... so i say again, i will take a breather, think and plan how to keep and multiply those new-found riches.

    Funny I've had this answer in mind of quite a few years just in case I win the lottery. Of course as I've grown older and my children have as well the list has changed. I would get all my debts paid, renovate my house, pay off my parents house, by houses for my children, create trusts funds for my grandchildren, take my family to Walt Disney, help out family and friends and invest the rest.

    Split it into four equal amounts Invest a quarter of it to buy property to rent out, secondly put a another into a savings account, thirdly buy shares in a big company e.g. apple, Facebook etc. Fourthly enjoy the last quarter :-) Go on holiday, buy a car you decide.

    Place it in a local bank. Request a financial advisor and invest properly, then pay off all of my debt. I would also find a family who is in dire need and assist them. If they lost everything, I would find a home in a nice neighborhood purchase it and hand them keys to there new safe haven.

    HOW rich?  If I suddenly came into millions, allowing me to basically live off the interest, then first, I'd pay off my mortgage and those of both my kids.
    Then, I'd open a huge no-kill animal shelter.
    I'd probably also open a tuition-free private school to teach kids properly, with critical thinking skills and real-world knowledge, instead of this "teaching to a test" nonsense that has become our excuse for "education."
