   Was POTUS playing possum?
   
   Did Obama's apparent "lay down" strategy in the first presidential debate of 2012 show his weakness or resolve? Is allowing Romney to energize the GOP base a calculated risk in order to expose untruths in Mitt Romney's rhetoric?

   I don't think it showed either of those two labels. It was simply a tactic. That's like saying, "is it weak to ambush the enemy from behind a rock?" The president is nothing if not a tactical campaigner. The GOP generally follows two campaign strategies: 1) play up to the radical religious base and 2) take something of what the opponent says, twist it, and use it against him. Romney's Mormon theology keeps him from playing up to his Christian religious base. The fact that the president is giving little away in his speeches affords Romney no ammunition. Romney is left with no choice, but to play to the racists. Obama even has greater support from corporate America and the financial industry right now since he is ahead. In desparation, Romney has started breaking the rules by being publicly honest with his plans to end government pensions and tax deductions for the middle class. That level of honesty gets you nowhere with any meaningful financial supporters.

   Well, that could be....Obama is mad genius, in my view. But the whole thing was very strange. If you looked on the split-screen, Romney had this smirk stuck there, and Obama was blinking his eyes as if he was in a deep hypnosis!
   Then, the next day, Obama says: "I don't know who that man was up there." And honestly, it was like 1/2 Obama too.
   I'm not going to go all weird on it, but something strange sure was up. But, the result is, it will expose Romney's lies. He will have to stand by what he said now. He's a socialist like Obama! *wink* *wink*. Fox and the rest of the rabid right will have to start smearing him too! Can't wait til Rush starts in....maybe Mitt's Clear Channel will finally fire that loud-mouth. Clear Channell--Bain Capital. Monsanto--Bain Capital. Not nice:

   It's possible that he's playing possum, like many incumbents do in order to get the opponents statements on record for the purpose of attacking his positions in later debates. Reagan got pounded by Mondale in an early debate but more than made up for it later on. Also the president may be reluctant to engage in what many would consider petty rhetorical battles because it sometimes looks like it should be beneath the office he holds.
   
   In close election like this, I doubt the president would risk looking weak in the face of Romney's attacks, I think he may have had a bad day. It may also be difficult for the president to defend his policies in the midst of the worst economy since the Great depression and staggering new debt to the tune of almost 6 trillion dollars after he claimed he would cut the deficit in half.

   No, he wasn't playing possum. He's just out of his league.  He can't take it when anyone questions his "wisdom" anymore - he hardly has press conferences any more, he goes to virtually no meetings, he won't face anybody would challenge him (Bill O'Reilly for instance), he'd rather go talk to the ladies on The View. He's our first "rock star" president, you see.  With all his golfing, vacations, campaigning, and partying with celebrities, who has time for governing? And given his statist political philosophy, we're probably better off when he stays out of the Oval Office.  Hopefully, for the sake of the Republic, he'll be out of that office for good next January 20th.

      Well I know enough about animals to know a possum plays possum cause he is a coward and creature of the dark that knows if he doesn't play dead as a last resort he will be dead.. In that respect Obama could have been playing possom.

   Seriously? Obama is a brilliant orator, but did you see the look in his eyes during the debate?  He had the hardest, most unsettling look in his eyes.  Usually when he speaks he is warm and enjoys the interaction with people.  He was NOT having fun at this debate for whatever reason.

      Obama is a cardboard cutout with a hinged jaw whose strings are held by the hands of others. He's overrated as a speaker. Debate I showed that. Without the teleprompters, speech writers furiously loading lines on the fly, he's lost.

    Obama wasn't playing possum. He is a possum. Definitely a quadrupedal diprotodont marsupial with a long thick tale (especially about the economy).
