HOOWANTSTONO says
God created Lucifer. Lucifer, by his own choice became Satan, and has tricked all his buddies, the other fallen angels, to do the same, and now he tricks people to believe God made Satan.
Kebennett1 says
God created all of the Angels just like He created Man. He created them, like us, with free-will. Satan was created as one of the host of angelic beings . . . an anointed cherub, i.e., the captain of the cherubic hosts. Sometime prior to the creation of the natural order, Satan became vain about his beauty and position, and his heart became rebellious against God. Apparently, he was able to secure a considerable following among the angels, resulting in their expulsion from Heaven (Luke 10:18; II Peter 2:4; Jude 6; Revelation 12:4). Since that day, Satan devotes himself to opposing the work of God in every way possible and to attempting to destroy all of the good that God has created in the natural order. He (Satan) is allowed to continue this way for a period but will ultimately be confined to Hell for eternity" (Revelation 20:10). Darrell Roberts says
Instead of worrying about what Satan is doing people need to focus on what they are doing. If you are living by "God's" word the Satan has no power what so ever. What I find is that people need an excuse, a scapegoat for their inability to do what is right due to weakness.
Oh, I love the excuse the Devil made me do it., but I know the reality, I did what ever I did because I chose to and at some point I know there is Karma to face. Therefore I try to do "good" so I will get good Karma and not have to think about Satan.
Allan McGregor says
Satan is not the devil's name but his job description; it is Hebrew and means 'Adversary', while devil is from the Greek diabolos and means 'Slanderer'. The Bible tells us that the angels were created as ministering spirits for the heirs of salvation and that one of these was a mighty spirit being called 'Helyel Ben Shachar', or 'Light Bringer, Son of the Dawn'. The medieval translator Jerome rendered 'Light Bringer' in Latin as 'Lucifer', which has stuck ever since. We also know that he was created perfect and of an exalted class of spirit known as the Cherubim.
Join the dots and we can see that Lucifer was created to serve mankind, which is what he was supposed to be doing in Eden. But something happened. We know that this was before he fell, because Yahweh Elohim looked onall he had created and called it 'very good', which it could not have been had Lucifer already fallen. We also know that sin and death entered the universe through Adam and not Satan, so Satan did not fall before Adam. So when did he? The answers all tie together when we understand that God created Adam in his own image and after his likeness, and gave him all dominion and authority on earth. A comparison between some New Testament promises to man, with some Old Testament claims by Lucifer show that Lucifer coveted man's position and ultimate destiny to rule at God's right hand forever, so he worked out a strategy: Discredit Adam and take his place.
This he would do by tempting Adam to disobey the one law that existed in the whole Universe: 'Do not eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.'
Lucifer reasoned that man had one weakness, an immature proclivity to resist being told what to do, not because he was sinful, but because he was created royal, in God's image and likeness, with a will to dominate and not be told what to do. By appealing to this sense, Lucifer succeeded in tempting man to sin, but failed to foresee that this meant he inherited a poisoned chalice of his own making. Before man disobey God, there was no sin, death, condemnation or judgement in the entire Universe: Now there was, and Lucifer was now subject to it. 'The road to hell', as they say, 'is paved with good intentions', and Lucifer appears to have believed that betraying mankind was doing God a favour, but he deceived himself and it cost him his position and made him our Accuser and God's Adversary.

God did NOT create satan. It was the council of Nicea that created satan at the same time they created Jesus.
Somesh Dutt says
Every thing in this world needs to have a balance. If there is a positive then there is also a negative. Hence GOD symbolised good things and SATAN symbolises bad things. In other words a balance!!
Dim Flaxenwick says
God didn't create satan. He created beautiful angels with free will same as we have. the word satan means opposer. the word devil means slanderer.
Satan became too proud of how beautiful he was and wanted the glory that belonged to the Creator., So he oppsed God and slandered Him by thinking and saying that the Creator shouldn't have the worship and gratitude for making such beautiful beings.
A bit like a well--brought up child, turning himself into a thief .
Hope that helps. It's all there in the bible.
swefelix says
God did not create Satan. Man created Satan, just like man created God and the concept of religion. Unfortunately it will take something akin to a brainwashing of the entire human populace before it is eradicated. Only then will weak-minded people (including the people who will judge this comment negatively), and those people whom religion has been imposed upon, find something else to believe in and rely on, like themselves.

Whether or not you believe in God or the Great Spoon or what ever, the answer is a simple as black and white, day or night. The absence of one eliminates the cognitive existence and/or recognition of the other.
Without evil how would good be defined?
T. S. Unami says
Before I say anything, I'm not hating on religion. I do, however, think that religions should be seen as a general guideline for living, and should not be worshiped obsessively.
I gotta agree with swefelix here. God, Satan, and so many other things that many people believe are only concepts. As humans we normally give meaning, make associations, and label things... until they exist, or until we have enough 'proof' to believe that they do.
Nobody needs to worry, be productive instead. Even if (worst case scenario) Your house burnt down, your family is deceased, you have no friends, you still have you. I fear that society has been trying to replace the only thing that IS real (self), with a concept made for control. Insert Deity [HERE].

And, what sort of evil did Satan do until mankind came around? Did he tempt plants to grow away from the light? Make mammoths cheat on their spouses? Encourage trilobites to watch porn? The whole thing is plum silly. It is 2009 people. Let's worry about reality for a change.

According to the Scriptures, God created Angels to praise and glorify HIM and Satan was one of them once, in fact he was a Leader . But Satan rebelled against God the Creator, The Father Almighty of Heaven and Earth and he and his host of angels were cast from Heaven into Hell.
TheBizzness says
Satan (real name is lucifer) was the leader of the Heavenly choir. He was the most glorious of all the angels and was very close to God. He was a angel of light and music came from his body as if it was made of pipe organs.
VOICE CIW says
God created Satan as perfect just like all the other angels. Satan's name then was Lucifer, the name meant "Morning Star". Lucifer was the most beautiful Angel, he was the heavenly choir leader, he guarded the throne of God, God put Lucifer in charge of all the Angels. Earth was created before Adam and Eve. The first earth was run by Lucifer and his angels he had access to both heaven and earth. The Bible said pride entered Lucifer, and he wanted more, he said his throne will reach higher than God's Throne. Lucifer had free will as well as the other angels, and he chose to rebell against God and His angels, Lucifer was able to win over 1/3 of the angels and led a revolt against God and was thrown out of heaven with all of his angels. Lucifer became Satan which means adversary. He was against God and all that belongs to God and against God's purpose. So when God recreated the earth (during the rebellion the first earth was destroyed), Satan came to destroy Adam and Eve and take possession of the earth, which he did with his evil influence until Jesus came and died for our sins and rose from the dead God can and will use anybody or any situation for His purpose. Today He uses Satan to keep christians in line with His "Word", to bring punishment against the wicked in the world. Hurricanes, tornadoes, mudslides, earthquakes sickness, all these catastrophes are brought about by Satan, God can do no evil so He allows Satan to do it, but yet He keeps Satan under control. Some of you may not believe what I am telling you, but I say to you I study and do research on the Word Of God (Bible) and I would not say anything about the Bible that is not true. If you want to discuss it contact me I can back all this up with scripture.

So whoever started this whole faith thing would have a reason to believe in God=)

sdtouchton says
With both the angels and humanity, God chose to present a choice. While the Bible does not give many details regarding the rebellion of Satan and the fallen angels, it seems that Satan—probably the greatest of all the angels (Ezekiel 28:12-18)—in pride chose to rebel against God in order to seek to become his own god. Satan (Lucifer) did not want to worship or obey God; he wanted to be God (Isaiah 14:12-14). Revelation 12:4 is understood to be a figurative description of one third of the angels choosing to follow Satan in his rebellion, becoming the fallen angels—demons.
God gave Satan and the angels the same choice He gave Adam and Eve, to obey Him or not. The angels had a free-will choice to make; God did not force or encourage any of the angels to sin. Satan and the fallen angels sinned of their own free will and therefore are worthy of God's eternal wrath in the lake of fire.
Mikel G Roberts says
so good could exist. without it's opposite good becomes meaningless.
without hot there would only ever be tepid, because if you have a bottom(cold) then the highest temperature has to be hot, colds opposite. if we put numbers in place of the words hot and cold. Lets say cold =1 tepid=5 hot =10
if 10 does not exist then 9 becomes the highest and therefore 9 would =hot and tepid becomes 4.5. the only way for there to not be a HOT is if hot and cold are the same, which would mean they would be the middle ground, "tepid" and you could not have anything that was anything but tepid.
CorpGiant says
GOD created Satan and Satan rebelled, or denounced GOD. WE see the very same thing in our society, where people will turn their backs on GOD, and Jesus. The sad thing about it, is that even though GOD gave us and Satan free will to make choices, that does not mean you turn your back or denounce the Supreme Being who created you.
I do not care what I go though in my life, I could not denounce or reject GOD, or his Son Jesus Christ, who bled, and died for humanity.

That makes me uneasy, as though you are deifying Satan.
I hope not, friend, for the sake of your soul. I really hope not.
Samugit2 says
God never created satan.God had created him as an Angel but he disobeyed. He chose to take over what was not meant for him.Satan was cast out of heaven thus he is a curse. The devil is simply a spirit that has no power over human for human was created in a way that he can overcome evil n do good.He has the power of thought and choice hence man is greater than the devil.
lucionogue says
God created Lucifer just like He created all the other spirits, Lucifer was a very special son. he had almost as much glory as Jesus Christ, however, when Adam and Even ate the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden, they became mortals and, in order to prevent them from forever living in the sins, God needed a plan to redeem the humankind, Satan, then Lucifer presented his plan, he promised that no soul would be lost, however, he wanted that all the glory would be his. Then, Jesus Christ, presented His plan, He promised that He would teach all God's children the way to return to Heaven and that he would offer the ultimate sacrifice, He would give His own life, so that we all could one day resurrect and then be judge for all our actions. Jesus also promised that he would do all that but, that the glory would for God, our Father.
Jesus's plan was the selected one, then, Lucifer rebelled against the divine plan and consequently, he was expelled from Heaven.
Why? Heavenly Father (God) allowed him to survive and do what he does in this world? God and Jesus Christ created a plan that give us all the gift of free agency and the same gift was extended to Satan.
In this world, nobody should be forced to do anything and the same principle applies to Satan.
People choose to do good or bad according to their own conscience and free will, this is a gift given and established by God.
EdG. says
So Satan could go on to create rock n' roll and various other awesome things such as motorcycles, playboy magazine, and firearms. After all, without guns, how would people kill in the name of the lord?

sroberts9 says
He created him to fulfill a responsibility in heaven. He was not a child of God, nor human, but, an angel - which qualified him to be just a little more intelligent than we humans. His responsibility was to manage the room in Father Gods house that was worshipping Father God 24/7. But, he kept getting jealous of Father God, because of all the love and praise he was receiving from everyone in heaven. His jealousy grew and grew in his heart - until it consumed him. Then that day came - after many, many, many, opportunities to stop, when the Father God, had to throw him out of heaven - which we now know him as the "fallen angel." If he had only repented of his sins and realized that the most important love you could ever have in your life is the - Love from the Heavenly Father God. His jealously did not allow him to see that the way that the worshippers in heaven loved Father God, Father God loved him the same. Amen.
