   Yes, but not in any supernatural, spiritual, or metaphysical sense. Only in an ordinary day-to-day sense, and in a subconscious, suggestive sense. An example of the latter would be Harry Potter and Voldemort. If they switched names, the villain would suddenly be less imposing, and the hero would be less of a likeable, relateable character.

   I really don't know. My name is Susan, it was originally going to be Lily. I used to think it was a boring, dull, unimaginitive name. However, I've grown to like it and see it as a name that is treated with respect and never ridicule.
   
   I don't believe my name affected my life at all. Lily is a nice name but to me I would not be taken as seriously as a writer with it. No offense to any writers named Lily

   Obviously one's name affects his life. (Or hers.)
   
   Condaleeza Rice overcame great obstacles with that name.  But other blacks obviously have not been so fortunate.  (Do I really have to give examples?)
   Frank Zappa named kids "Moon Unit" and "Dweezel".  Unless Zappa left them nice inheritances, they are SOL for any real job or career unless they change their names or go by some other name.
   
   All these "unusual" names that doofus parents name their kids are simply ego-boo for the parents.  They do really not have their childrens' future interests at heart.
   
   One of the Scandinavian countries requires names to be approved.  That contradicts libertarian ideals, but maybe our rulers are correct.  The masses usually do seem to deserve the jackboot of authority on their necks, including licensing births and naming the spawn.

   People with last names starting with a letter near the end of the alphabet are said to be more patient than most other adults because they have grown accustom to being near the  end of the line and waiting for their turn to come.
