No, it doesn't make any difference as to the race.  Take, for example, the coverage of Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky and the yummy cigar.  Oh, wait, Clinton was the first black President.  (JOKE!!)

Any time a Black person gets in trouble people just can't help but accuse other people of racism.  I think it probably has more to do with the fact that he has cheated on his wife with with dozens of sluts and porn stars than the color of his skin.  As long as questions like this keep coming up, we know that America is far from putting racism aside.

    @ John Galt

I have no problem with people saying whatever they want about Tiger Woods! After all, he did put himself in such a mess with these women throwing themselves at him. You must be objective and realistic in asssessing a behavior or an individual. I do not remember an interview (i may be wrong) where someone ask Tiger what kind of person are you at home?- you know, a father, husband etc to even determine if he was morally fit and stable to be put on such a pedestal in the first place and yet, when he falls they seem to be luxuriating in his shame.

Tiger Woods is not a public official and i think that besides golf he does not owe anyone an explanation. I do not remember John Ensign, gov. Sanford or Edwards getting so much coverage night after night and they were elected by the people and for the people. His life is falling apart and there are two young children involved- let them figure it out! No body knows what is like at home so may be this has been a long time coming.

By the way, all those mistresses and their stories seem a little fishy and since Tiger is not talking who knows? They all claim a year or two of affairs and some in similar nightclubs? I don't know and don't want to speculate, but some of these stories seem a little...you know..

I don't sense that there is a racial component in the media coverage of Tiger Woods's marital problems. He's being treated about the same as other celebraties, perhaps a bit more intensely because of his wide fan base. The media print whatever they think will sell papers or capture eyeballs. Woods is not thought of by many first as a Black but rather as the world's greatest golfer who happens to be of mixed race ancestry. http://hubpages.com/question/30892/is-t … ger-woods#

Tiger Woods screwed up. No pun intended.  No color involved.

No. If anything he is the beneficiary of his race in this regard.  Reporters are under a lot of pressure to not write articles that come across as racist.

The bottom line is Tigar has a very weak personal code of ethics that have nothing to do with his race.  He is SOLELY responsible for his actions.

In light of the fact that America is a racists country.  Said racism invades every area of human relation. Kinda like white women or little white girls who get abducted or murdered.  They make the news all the time.  They have preference over all other races in this venue.  Tiger Woods is half Black/Thai; he looks black though. Married to a blonde haired white woman from Sweden is it? Anyway given the many white men who hold intense racial prejudices against black men in general; of course there is a racial component to some successful black celebrity who's supposedly emotionally abusing the pride of the white race. Now if say the woman was black the coverage would be far less salacious even given his celebrity as an international golf superstar.  Simply put; the black woman is not revered by white men in the same way they revere their "white woman."  Last time I checked the news media was owned by predominantly white men. So yeah theres a racial component. There you have it in black and white.

No, not in my mind.  How about yours?  Tiger woods is an excellent golfer and a very high profile athlete.  Is there a racial component to all the product endorsements he was paid to do?  Because those aired a lot more than his crash coverage has.  He's a star, and the media are a leeches.  Its as simple as that.
    Sidebar, I hate golf.

i agree that race plays no part in this story, however i can't for the life of me understand why it IS A STORY. with terrorism, recession, earthquakes, and the political landscape of this country and the world, how does one person who cheats on his wife even get more than a 10 second news blip for 1 day. why are we as consumers so into the lives of the rich and famous. i would rather hear about the health care, mortgage problems and the better treatment of our soldiers. i would like to know ways of helping where i can for those who are truely in need and do somethoing about it.

In response to commissioner, I would say I have to agree with you—what's worse is that you could gather up a group of people and ask a ton of questions about what Charlie Sheen was arrested for, who Kate Gosselin is dating, when was the last time Britney showed up with no panties on...

You could ask who's going to the super bowl, what coach heads up the Jets...

And you'd get an answer for each and every one of them.

Ask about who someone's state representative is or ask questions on these important matters you described and you more often than not get crickets.

No. It's a popular media topic as Tiger posed as a clean-cut family man - this image also earned him millions. The public has found out this image was a lie. No-one in the media is denying he is absolutely a brilliant golfer. But most of his money was made from the image he portrayed - which was obviously a false image since some details of his real private life has been revealed.  On top of this, it's not just the situation that he cheated on his wife, it's the amount of women he maintained relationships with (more than 12 woman during his five year marriage) and the secretive way he went about it (ie: Flying them around the world with him - Most recently flying one out to Australia - where he was playing golf, accompanied by his mother on the green).  Generally speaking the public find it shocking.

I really don't think so. Many American are way past racism.  Although children in one Missippi town were forbidden to talk about President Obama after he was elected on a school bus.  Ergo it may depend on where you are, sorry to say.
