Is it harder for men to end a relationship than women?
I have noticed on television as well as in my actual life that many men as well as my guy friends have a hard time letting go of a relationship. Some are willing to cheat instead of saying its over. This is not true for all men, so what makes it so hard to let go?
I can't answer for other men but for me I absolutely hate hurting someones feelings if I care for them. I think perhaps it's because men as a whole take a lot more to care initially so it's harder for us to let go? Just my 2 cents!
Thanks i agree with you. 2 cents well received~!
Egotistical pride discouragement when man takes such a loss... More painful to a man than most men care to recognize... Shake it off men... There are more fish in the see... Maybe a keeper.
Agreed. You obviously don't have an issue with letting go, how as a man did you arrive here or were you always that way?
After the 2nd heart break I realized that I didn't want to repeat the time wasting routine of self pity that happened after my 1st heart break... Too many men avoid even trying after that 1st heart break... I like girls too much to do that routine.
Thats a good way to be some people are what I call gluttons for punishment. I commend you on that.
Hmm, because if there is a good thing with the relationship, even if it's over, they want to hang on for the good. I think that often, women want to hold onto sentiment, but, have the good sense to know when to let it go.
It seems to me men would rather self-sabotage than to make a woman cry and get angry because of something he said. That way the blood isn't on his hands because it was she who broke up with him. Men just hate to lose. Period.
I think this is true for some jacked dudes (I know a few, lol.) I just think they should be honest and keep it moving, because it only prolongs misery.
It's been reported that women file for divorce 66% or 2/3rds of the time in the U.S. An unhappily married man is far more likely to cheat than run down to the courthouse and file for a divorce because his wife won't have sex with him or doesn't appreciate him. Mistresses are warned by their girlfriends, "The husband never leaves the wife on his own..."
People who cheat are generally looking to hold onto all that is good in their primary relationship while addressing the rest of their needs on the side. Since most cheaters don't think they are going to get caught cheating seems more appealing/easier than going through a messy breakup or expensive divorce.
As for which gender finds it harder to breakup I think it's about even. When it's all said and done it's the person that gets "dumped" who has the most difficult time. Depending on how they react can empact the level of difficulty one has in breaking up with them. (uncontrollable crying, begging, yelling, violent outburst, stalking, harassment via phone/email/social networks, revenge attempts, and in the worst of cases murder)
Very rarely does a relationship end with a handshake, hug, or farewell kiss. A lot of women and men would honestly prefer to "fade-away" than to have the "big talk".
THAT IS SUCH A COPE OUT THOUGH. SMH. GUESS GUYS ARE PRISONERS OF THEIR OWN INSECURITIES. LEAST THERE ARE SOME LIBERATED MEN, OF WHICH ARE TRUSTWORTHY!
bittvan22, I was not offering any "justifications" or "defenses" but simply stating why I think (both men and women) would rather not go through messy breakups. Anyone who has watched "Cheaters" or The Maury Povich Show is aware women cheat too.
NO WOMAN CHEATS!...... lol. wish I could see your face when you read that one. I know you were, just wanted to spice it up a little bit, lol. I hubbed on female empowerment since disrespect is so prevalent from both sides.
brittvan22, You are a handful! Love your sense of humor! I think I will go read one of your hubs! :-) I'm all about awareness and self-empowerment. Google my book. My Cat Won't Bark! (A Relationship Epiphany)
ok thanks i'll check u out 2, lol. im a virgo thats expected!
As if getting caught cheating is a much more peaceful, humane way. Give me a break. lol

Having a husband or boyfriend who cheated is a big hit to your self esteem. You begin to doubt your marriage and your ability to make your husband happy or to be enough. And there are tons of old stereotypes which imply that if a man cheats, it’s because his wife doesn’t understand him, he’s...
