   In your opinion, should a religious person write a story that is humorous about the religion?
   
   People who are more rigid and concrete in their thoughts on the religion would consider it mocking, but that is not how it is meant.  Simply meant to be funny.

   This depends if it is clean laughter not slander or depict Christianity in a harmful way.  God does have a sense of humor you know.....blessings!

   Yes they should because humor and belief are 2 different things. Humor should always trump right or wrong if it's funny laugh don't care about what others think of you!!!

   I think it would be fine as long as it was not disrespectful to the religion.  But then, I'm not very religious and seldom take anything overly seriously.

   Humour and laughter are an essential ingredient in the recipe of life, in this case religion. It helps us to see the funny side of life and not take things too seriously (with a good dose of common sense of course). Humour puts a smile on our faces and helps brighten up a dull day. As long as the the humorous story does not cause ridicule or undermine the status of religion in society, there is nothing wrong with it.

   I am interested to know how you can be funny about a particular religion without mocking.  I guess maybe your first question to yourself should be, "Who is my audience, what dynamic am I aiming for?"  If it is any of the people in the pews of the hypothetical religion, it may well fall flat.
   
   One example of a hugely funny piece is an act (Dressed to Kill) by the comedian Eddie Izzard.  He did a piece on religion, and the up tight, British people in the pews singing blandly as compared to the Gospel churches where they REALLY sing out.  It was hilarious without being disrespectful.

    No matter what you write, religious or not, someone is going to get mad about it or dislike it for one reason or another. Personally, I don't get why it can't  be joked about, but I'm not really religious either. Just try to look at things from the audience's point of view, and if your sarcasm doesn't come through to them, maybe just explain that you were indeed joking, and that God seemed to think it was funny.

    I think it is fine as long as there is no Blasphemy but then again every one I think thinks of Blasphemy in a different way so it would be hard to think that it would be ok but maybe to some one else it may make them up set. I think it is all up to the person who wants to this. God never said any thing about having fun

    Yeah sure! I think humor about religion is great, as long as it's tasteful.
    
    Like this story of my adolescence in church:
    
    One time, during prayer, I thought it would be funny if I let out a huge fart, you know, right in the middle of prayer. So I tried, but I ended up taking a huge dump in my pants.

    I will say he can, not he should, The choice is that of the particular person. But i am sure that if a religious person has the capacity to look at his or her own religion with a sense of humor, he or she will get more enlightenment. One will not be committing blasphemy or heresy by joking about one's religion. I think Gods too has a sense of humor!
