What has been the most powerful religious realisation in your life?
When was the moment that your beliefs were moulded into what they are now?
This is it- so realize it! (haha- no one knows diddly, but this is my opinion and I do hope you listen)
There is no god and there is no religion other than what those before you would wish you to believe. I feel for you, as I began my earnest religious path at the age of 12. I followed that path for many years, but your answer is not to be found through the eyes of my puberty. Realization more often comes through the eyes of maturity and experience. Your question really has nothing to do with religion, as that is mere belief and you sound a bit asea in your wonderment of such. Did you invent religion? Have thee a definition of such? Yes, it's in the dictionary but scholars have not only debated it, but killed millions over it in the past 2500 years. I sure hope you are not of that ilk. What then could be a realization of something that someone else stuffed into your mind? You buy into another's ideas and you give your life to someone else's ideals and come into this world with a child's feeble and narrow minded ignorant bliss. Bless them, but your family and environment put those ideas there. Did you realize that? Unfortunately, that is exactly what they have wanted since Jesus died. He did not preach such feeble following, but to come into your own from a point of individual strength. Nonetheless, the money mongers, churches, evangelists and politicians will spin your little brain wherever they wish, in hopes of gaining more power and wealth. Believe me, they are very acute and it is so easy to fall into anothers web. Jesus knew about lambs- shall thee be another? Less than 6% of our country, and the world, are leaders.Lambs and sheep make up the rest. That's the way it is. OK, you get a couple of bucks and rams from time to time, but of no consequence. Prove me wrong. Now, after 60 years, I find this as total absurdity. I say that you find your own god and find your own path. That is the raw realization and I stumbled across it when I was 50.That is the long answer to your question, but I deemed it necessary, so I thought it appropriate to expound. Obviously, you are still a bit younger and will have your own shocks in the next 20 years. You are on your own, kid. DEAL with it and your mold will be much better to your liking as opposed to what others want you to be. And, shall thee still keep the faith, according to scripture, the Truth shall make thee free.
Blessings for success.
Read Paulw2751, he claims no one knows diddly and that it's his opinion. What he doesn't know is that his "opinion", is FACT!
You'd be wise to read his whole answer and if that doesn't convince you believers of anything and everything, go here. If your still not convinced, I got a cool bridge I can let you have real cheap...

When I realized paganism was the correct path for me. I was 22 I think. I realized the earth is a living being, mother nature deserves our respect, and there is a fundamental cosmic order to the universe that we should all strive to understand and integrate into our lives. I'm not sure it's a religious realization so much as a spiritual one. I completely renounced my Catholic faith when I realized all of this. When I was catholic I had a hard time dealing with the hypocrisy and the fact that so many people were murdered for their own beliefs. Live and let live was my ultimate realization, and the one by which I now strive to live my life.
This question is actually provocative especially to none-believers; it's not only provocative but also presumptuous, meaning, it is assuming that everybody has a religious inclination or that everybody believes in the existence of a god.
Okay, assuming I am a God-believer and religious as well...My answer would be (and this is for real) My religious realization did not come to me like it's a package or a "gift" given to me in a moment of excitement. My religious realization gradually opens me to my personal spiritual enlightenment as I live my life over the years. Observing people, studying in the academe about the Philosophy of Man and anything "man" or human in terms of his relationship to his own spirituality. Joining churches other than the church my Church Minister father imposed on us siblings. This is a very personal matter actually and it requires sincerity of intentions.
Jynzly, the question is not pressuming that the whole world has a religion. The question is clearly aimed at people that DO have a religion or some sort of belief.
PaulW, realising that a god doesn't exist does not come with maturity, unfortunately that is quite a pretentious response. Alot of people have very different beliefs. I see Deity as singular living entities quite impossible, however my belief lies in the connection of all. Running my own business is immature. Bringing up my daughter is immature.
My beliefs cost me no money, and i am always advising people to not pay these exploitive idiots. The one that gets me the most angry is Christian healers! Telling you that if you use medicine you don't believe in Gods power enough... Knowing full well that they are lying to that poor person.
I was raised Catholic but came to believe that religion is simply man's way of controlling man so I have nothing to do with religion anymore.
Having said that, my relationship with God is stronger than ever. He is with me at all times.
What helped change my mind about religion was a movie actually, in which they said that God is all around, not only in a church as the religious would like us to believe.
God is performing miracles constantly, if our eyes are open we can see them.
One of the most powerful was when i felt how my relationship to my spiritual teacher, my Guru, was beyond time and space, beyond this world, and yet very human and present. This was shown to me directly when he was physically before me in California in 2002.

Should children be given the chance to choose their own faith and religion? Many are born into their faith and often do not have a chance to explore other faith and religion. Although some have changed their religious belief when they grow up, but this is a handful of people only.

I am a spiritual person -- this does not define my beliefs or my religion. What it does mean is that I am true to myself and my beliefs. I was raised a Christian and still have the basic beliefs, that God and Jesus do exist. I pray to God and I talk with Jesus for guidance and healing -- I also...

Does it make me close minded if I can't understand why people are atheists?I guess how is the better way to say it. What do you think about Religion?Does Religion help us improve our everyday life, or is it just a matter of belief to a higher being?

I have recently posted a comment on someone's hub where I said that I didn't agree with their ideas, giving my own reasons for my own beliefs. I was polite and courteous, I didn't use any bad language and I thought I put up a strong case for a healthy debate. After all my hard work she denied...
