In your opinion, what fruit was on the tree of the knowledge of good and evil?

In the Garden of Eden that Adam and Eve ate of.

In my opinion it doesn't matter nor does the Bible, in the original language actually say. It merely says "fruit".  I like to think though that its a fruit that doesn't exist any other place.

I would say maybe a fig.  Adam and Eve "knew that they were naked, and they sewed fig leaves and made themselves girdles."

I believe that the "fruit" on the Tree of Knowldge of good and evil is Enlightenment.  This is what we all need to further our spiritual growth.  Regardless of one's belief system, enlightenment can be any knowledge of the difference between good and evil and how one applies that to their life.

I believe that many of the mundane terms in Scripture are actually 'codes' as Phyllis intimated.  I read 'dust of the ground' meaning a population of people, from which Adam was taken and received that special connection called a 'soul'.  And the fruit which he was not to touch was in my mind very similar to Phyllis' term 'enlightenment' only I would more determine it a loss of innocence.

I tend to view it like a dog eating his meal, another dog who is starving comes up and he chases the starving dog, which dies.  The dog does not have the knowledge of good and evil.  The dog doesn't understand that the fact that the bowl is his food is not doubted, the fact that the other dog will die if he doesn't share or give him the food is beyond the dog's ability to reason.  So that dog can not be judged.

People, however, having eaten that 'fruit' can be judged. Because we know, and because we know there is a greater burden on us.

I believe that if you took out the second paragraph this would be the best answer I have read so far. While I agree that the words used in scripture may have been purely figuritive, animal psychologists have observed that others beasts do share.

It was the Fruit of the womb the Seed of Death or of Satan's. Not only was Satan in the Garden. But Jesus was in the Garden As well as Adam.

People confuse the Trees as actual Trees when indeed they were beings and Blood Lines Satan's, Jesus's and Adam's. Eve had eaten or receive the seed Of these two trees Satan and Adam.

God then Took them Out of the Garden so she could not eat of Jesus the Tree of Life, there By receiving the gift or (seed) of eternal life.

Adam was a newly created Being and Had no sin until he defile his seed within the same womb of Eve's with Satan's seed present. there by he ate or received Satan's seed as well.

The Sixth Day creation was already corrupted by Satan as well, but were reborn into flesh by the god of this world (earth) Satan and GOD the Let US is Satan and GOD's image for the fallen 1/3 of Heaven Satan was to carry out his first assignment given to him by GOD.  Which was to teach or enlighten the children of GOD.

The sixth day creation were a collaboration between Satan and God as to who would be reborn into the flesh nothing more and nothing less. Not all were chosen to be reborn into the flesh so not all were able to re-enter Heaven.  Some did refuse the chance to repent way back when this all first started.

There has always been only two decisions to make here on this plain of existence Life or death eternal!

The only fruit trees that grew in that region at that time frame were fig trees.

The fruit that they ate of was most likely a fig.

enlightenment and lost of glory and loss of innocence are contradictory.
This tree and visible fruit does not exist now. But it was record room (Knowledge) of distant past.
Jesus said: do not judge by the flesh. Judge - discern.  If the fruit was the figs then it would be still prohibited, right? But now you may eat fruit from all trees...

How is this the best answer?
Are you saying lust of glory or loss of glory? How can you be sure that the fruit and the tree do not continue to exist? Have you explored every place on the planet? The Tree of Life is immortal... it cannot die.

The iPod was the fruit, figuritively speaking...
Before recently the tree was only referred to as the Tree of Knowledge, and the addage of "good and evil" came along as a tag from other authors who used the creation and talking serpant stories figuritively to explain the art of good and evil. The fruit of the tree must have been a figuritive employment of words to reference every machine that man was not supposed to know how to build... This is blantantly obvious when one understands that one of the first actions that Adam and his wife performed was creating clothing for themselves. They did not begin complaining about how their lord governed or what was wrong with the psyche of others. To put simply, what they did was precisely what their creators ("let us create man") told them not to do, of which was listening to the serpant and eating the offered fruit of the serpant. And a few thousand years later here people are fighting wars whilst denying their conscience. If man had eaten the true fruit of Good and Evil (conscience) man would not be fighting war or killing over resources and values. Mankind would be much better off if we had eaten from the tree of knowledge of good and evil rather than the tree of knowledge of technology. Nonetheless, if logic follows in a figuritive and literal fashion, all of us who do not really know of which tree of knowledge Adam ate from, as the text truly says the Tree of Knowledge, and not the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil nor the Tree of Knowledge of Technology, we should return to the garden and eat of the Tree of Life.
May we each find that tree soon and guard it with our lives.
