   Because it bore no fruit, which leads to interesting speculation concerning believers and non believers who bear no fruit, and their reception when they meet Him.

   Very interesting Aguasilver.  I certainly agree. And how do we meet him today is still
   By the same words and thoughts he left behind for us to listen and follow instructions.  And just like you mention how did he react to those not bearing fruit of his words. Not a good outcome , same as the outcome of that fig tree.

   The fig tree had leaves which announced to all who looked upon t that t had fruit; n that fig trees normally bear fruit before t produces leaves.  Many believers profess to the Christians when n fact hey bear no fruit, lie the tree.
   
   Then there s the fact of the fig  tree being representative of Israel.

   The curse of the fig tree was setting the stage for giving the Parable of the fig tree.
   
   If you have noticed, it happened during the 6 days prior to his crucifixion and withered in the same day.  Then on the day of the crucifixion he told the weeping girls to weep for their children and their grandchildren instead  of for him.  History tells us that about 40 years after Jerusalem was destroyed representing the death of the fig tree he had cursed in his statement to the weeping girls. 
   
   Notice he said when it began to produce leaves [Israel's becoming a nation the second time (Isaiah 11:11-12) in 1948] that the passing of a generation would not happen before all is fulfilled.  Psalm 90:10 tells us with much pain and suffering man's life span would be 80 years.  Add 80 to 1948 and we get 2028 as the maximum time remaining for this civilization putting today in the post-Laodecian or mega-church era and the finial days of civilization.  That is why the House of Rothschild is stepping up its control over government, it knows its days are limited to continue as Lucifer (Isaiah 14, complete chapter).

   The "parable" of Jesus cursing the fig tree tells us that we should do as II Timothy 4:2 tells us to:  "Preach the word; be diligent IN SEASON, and OUT OF SEASON; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine." 
   
   Associating II Timothy 4:2 with Mark 11:12-14; 20-22 is an example of the Holy Spirit "rightly dividing the Word" (II Timothy 2:15)! In v13 of Mark, Chapter 11, "...for the time of figs was not yet."  It was "out of season" for the fig tree's bearing of fruit and Jesus gave us an example that we should do as II Timothy 4:2 says "...be diligent "IN SEASON, and OUT OF SEASON..."   
   
   If "unproductive" (do not proclaim the Gospel of Christ) or have not "rightly divided His Word," to do as Galatians 1:6-9 says, "We will be accursed" as the fig tree was!
