Magic is a "trick" using slight of hand or distraction to give the "illusion" of something appearing or vanishing.
A miracle defies explanation because there is no way to prove it was a trick. A miracle is also generally a "solution" to a problem!
Magic is nothing more than a form of entertainment.

Miracles are a step up into reality and knowledge, whereas magic, which is illusionary, is a step down from reality.  We have knowledge about the tensile property of water and how to use gravity and electromagnetism as tools.  Yashua walked on the water because his knowledge of the sciences of reality exists at a level beyond ours where faith becomes command.  Perhaps if we used more than one tenth or one quarter of our minds, we could better control the elements in our environment and move mountains, as it were.  The parting of the Red Sea may be scientifically explainable by the near fly-by to Earth of a tossed planetoid targeted like a dart hitting a bulls eye.  But it seems the miracle would always remain in the mind that set into motion from a virtual infinity ago the near fly by of two heavenly bodies and the events of the Exodus to intersect at the perfectly set time.  But the intellect of "God" is not a miracle to Him.  Magic is called dark knowledge in old circles because its intent is to escape, elude or delude one from reality and is therefore a knowledge that doesn't serve any purpose for shedding light or conveying truth or actual knowledge.  But it is entertaining when one cannot figure out the trick, which with beings that only use a fraction of their minds, is usually the case.

You raise a good point on the surface, but on the surface of the water?  Perhaps it would be more accurate to say Chris Angel appeared to walk on the water.

Max:  I'll be SO happy when ALL can "see" that the "Spiritual" realm is for more advanced than the "physical" realm! If we would ALL have same minds we could "move mountains! The Holy Spirit "WORKS" & "We could do GRTR thgs!"  Jn14:12!  MATURE AL

It is very simple; Magic is of the world but miracle is from God.

Magic is an art that involves the invocation of supernatural powers by humans through diabolic means.

Miracle has to do with an amazing occurence that is supernatural and divine but not ordered by man, rather from God Almighty.

Eze: magic is limited while miracles are limitless. Magic is either man's slight of hand or the limited power of demons while miracles come from God who is, Himself, limitless. A perfect example of this was Moses and the staff becoming a snake and the magicians creating a snake also. The magicians snake was limited in that it only looked like a snake and squirmed but the snake from Moses ate the magicians snake. I hope this helps :-)

Tamara,I don't understand the 'limited' and 'limitless' of magic and miracle.Moses turned his staff to snake and the Magicians did the same.so whats the difference?

firework23posted 8 years agoin reply to this

The magicians could only make a copy of a snake (it only appeared to be one) whereas Moses, through God, made an actual snake (creation is something only God can do-making living out of unliving) which ate the fake snake. Theirs could not eat.

I think Magic and Miracle are the same in regards to the act and totally different in regards to the purpose of the act.

You have that choice I was merely responding with a biblical understanding. Peace be with you.

Eze: Are u implying result of acts "equivalent" but "motives differ?"

If so, equivalent? NO! GOD'S is Greater!

Motives differ? YES!  Magic=entertainment vs Miracles=From the Greater One! WHO continues to prove "I AM!"

      Witch/Who do you chose?

Norine,I am implying that the acts are the same but the motives/purpose are different.

Why did Moses throw his staff and it became a snake and why did the magicians throw their staffs?Moses threw his staff to prove to Pharaoh that the 'I AM' sent hi

Magic are tricks performed by humans while miracles are unexpected results from God thru prayers

It depends on how you define magic. In the metaphysical, occult, and new age communities, magic is simply the name given for all the energy within existence that we are capable of manipulating, whether through incantations, spells, wishes, prayer, etc.

So in one sense, magic is the energy which humans can harness to enact change in the world. A miracle therefore, would be a change enacted by a higher being, such as a god, spirit, or angel.

miracles are from God, magic is from satan (demons)
Many of the churches of men are full of magic in the name of
Christianity and Sometimes it takes great discernment to tell  which is which.
