Yep you need to ask yourself that, if you chose to be harsher than God that is your choice.  You need to accept it by faith and train your mind to accept this. you could be helped by reading some material that I have written if you click my profile. Best wishes and God Bless!

Unfortunately, self forgiveness is the hard part.  You can't remove yourself from yourself.  You can't remove the memories of whatever you may have done from your mind.  You have to live with yourself, your memories, and your emotions (constant reminders of whatever bad you may have done).  We as humans have a  conscience and it can eat away at us.  The first step to self forgiveness is understanding what you did and accepting that responsibility.  Next is to seek help such as a counselor.  Self forgiveness can be very difficult for a person and often professional help can aid you in the process.

Why must we forgive, why can't we just forget? (c)

Yes. You are gripped by the sin is pride. All Christians literally drown in it.

You think you, and therefore your sins are much more important than they actually are.

Also you labour under the delusion that God cares what you do. The last time I spoke to him he'd never heard of you. He was very worried about my behaviour though . . . . .

There is nothing so full of wind as a Christian in full sail. As the Delphic Oracle used to say "Don't Exaggerate".

We must renew our commitment to forgive others each and every day for the wrongs done to us. Forgiving ourselves is also a daily process.

We may wake up each day with the awareness of past failures. We may have feelings of guilt—or pseudo-guilt, if our sins have been placed under the blood of Christ.

But forgiving yourself may bring about the breakthrough you have been looking for. It could set you free in ways you have never before experienced.

Sometimes we are afraid to forgive ourselves. We cling to fear as if it were a thing of value. The truth is, the very breath of Satan is behind the fear of forgiving ourselves.

Jesus knows that many of us have this problem. This is a further reason Jesus turned up unexpectedly after His Resurrection in the room where the disciples were assembled both in terror and in guilt.

Jesus wanted them to know they were totally forgiven; He also wanted them to forgive themselves. He spoke to them as if nothing had happened (see John 20:21). This gave them dignity and showed them that nothing had occurred that would change Jesus' plans and strategy for them.

WHAT YOU DID IS SO  BAD YOUR BRAIN CAN HANDEL THE FACT THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO FORGET WHAT HAPPENED...

GOD HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FORGIVENESS BECAUSE THE ONLY REASON YOU BELIEVE IN SOMETHING THAT HAS NO PROVE. YOU NEED A MOTIVE AND THE MOTIVE  IN BELIEVING  IN RELIGION IS TO SAVE YOUR A@S WHEN YOU DIE.....
