Hi, Max. I'm not a big believer in coincidence, other than how they figure into Jungian synchronicity. I suppose you see coincidence more as apophenia rather than synchronicity. Each to his own, eh?
I would probably go with syncronicity, as I have had self evident events of this nature during my last year of psychotherapy.
When something is disturbing to the mind, bits of consciousness "break off" and cause strange and unusual phenomena often directly related to the cause of the disturbance and probably related to the sub-conscious process going on at the time according to Jung.
Whatever floats your boat.
Do remember 'Jungian theory' is just that - theory.
You know, so many of these pie-in-the-sky theories can so easily be explained by applying a modicum of rational thought to them.
If bits of your consciousness were breaking off (mere theory) as a result of a serious disturbance that the mind was unable to process, then any 'strange and unusual phenomena' which resulted, is just simply the meaning or your interpretation that you choose to give them. It does not mean it's strange, unusual or whatever. But if you have a mind that likes to dance with the unknown and give the unknown a special significance, because it cannot integrate something which is either too painful, or something that does not fit with a rational belief system (ie God) then inevitably, you will believe almost anything. That's a very dangerous place to be.
my idea of god doesn't
my idea of god isn't a he
my idea of god does not own things or people
"His people?" Aren't we all supposed to be God's people whether or not we believe in him or not?
I want to be crazy for a minute (what? again!)
If a hundred of us (you and me) were in a field and a spaceship landed. A little green man got out and gave all of us some halloween candy.
Some of us will deny having experienced this event.
Some of us will say that there must have been some LSD in the candy causing all of us to hallucinate the event.
Not so pie in the sky Maximus, very well researched and recorded observations over many years.
Not relying on one source for proof, and a hell of a lot better described than I have managed in a post.
As for the space people go to when bad experiences get out of hand so to speak, I agree, all sorts of dangerous possibilities arise.
Perhaps you should change your therapist, as the one you're currently seeing has filled your mind choc-full of loopy ideas there really is no hope for you.
lololol
I am not in therapy! As for changing therapists, I had the best! It was twenty years ago, I had the money and time to look around for the best, and was smart enough to know I could grow from it after having gotten "in to" the subject about 5 years prior.
How much do you know about it?
I hope you don't take your beliefs about it from Dr Phil?
Huh. 'The world' according to Maximus. Treatises on shoes, fat women, and anuses, I've seen.
You know, Earnest's entire approach is more honest all the way around. I doubt you even know if you are talking to a Christian, a Christianist, an atheist or an agnostic.
Max and Dr. Phil - good one, Earnest! I think Dr. Phil could do a year's worth of shows on Max's comments alone.
... Dr Phil could do a years worth of shows about toe nail length! The guy is a pop psych idol and in psych terms has narcissistic personality disorder.
Any time God speaks to me I do exactly as she tells me to. Otherwise, no supper!
"She who must be obeyed" as Rumpole would say!
Gracie Allen (For those of you outside the US, she was the wife of a great comedian and acted as his "straight man" for most of his career, she was eventually seen as a great comedian in her own right because of her ability to play off excellent jokes from others.) Anyway, I digress, Gracie Allen once said "Never put a period where God has placed a comma." Her faith was expansive built on the future and not on a world that began and ended with biblical times. She embodied the idea that "God is Still Speaking".
Yes I believe he speaks and what he has said to me is, " Have Trust and Faith in Me, did I not heal the sick?" I kept praying for my mom she to is sick and has Cancer she went into Surgery and with the Power of Prayer she is still here. So yes he speaks and yes I listen.
I hope your mom makes it AE. I had massive cancer surgery and survived. They gave me only a small chance. Love and best wishes from my family to you and yours.
Great Testimony ...thanks for sharing.
God does talk to his people all the time. It is more if the people are willing to listen to what he is saying that is the key to determine if you are going to listen to God. But he does talk to us all the time.
Yes, He does ... as you said we don't take the time to listen. What if I you and I were having a conversation and I asked you a question then I walked away without waiting for a response ... was I really listening or even wanting an answer?
Yes he does. There are no earthly words to say how wonerful he is!
Do yourself a favor....DO NOT reach out to god.
Why not? Because it will do more damage than you will ever know.
The nature of a person, man or woman, is to be a self-guided individual, who is self-responsible for their thoughts and actions.
You have an awareness, which tells you that you are alive.
You have a conscience, which tells you right from wrong.
You have a brain, so as to form free will thoughts.
You have the body, so as to perform any free will thought action.
What else could you possibly need to live life?
Want spirituality? Do something good in your community. Lend a hand to relative or friend, even though they don't need it. Do something special for someone who you don't know.
But, whatever you do- DO NOT go running to religion.
Oops! Mixed up religion and God again. Sorry folks, not the same thing...
Nonsense. Every religionist here says they do not have a religion. I think there seems to be a shortage of dictionaries because if I had a personal relationship with god - I would not need to persuade any one else it was real and give the "mistaken impression," that I was pushing a religion.
Glory be to God!!!!
You are so right ... there is a difference between religion and relationship. When God speaks ... it is about relationship not religion. Man created religion not God.
I agree- don't go running to religion...run to a relationship with Jesus.
Of course I believe he talks to his people!
It is common for some people to hear voices!
"There are fairies at the bottom of my garden"
I'm listening but I still don't hear anything. I must have forgoten to charge my cellphone.
That's why we should legalize drugs so more people can hear god speak to them, what a world it would be=)
#see how the devil works! look at what he did to this persons mind.
I know, I don't believe in the virgin birth, the talking snake, a woman coming from a rib, a man living inside a whale and water turning in to wine, you're right, i must be crazy=)
Me too, i don't even believe Noah got 5 million animals in a large kayak, or that adam and eve had sex with their kids to populate the world, or that a god would smite his own creations and I could go on for days.................
Suggestion to all believers posting here;
Just ignore these fools whose only participation is to pour scorn and ridicule on Christ and God.
Ignore them.
Yeah, ignore those who don't think like you do. Keep separated by your belief.
Make sure that you don't make a haste judgement on those who are non-believers, on the basis that they don't know what you know? or see things like you do.
Yes, by all means, push people out of your life, forget understanding, forget everything that doesn't jive with your conscience.
Yes, by all means- separate yourself from society.
Yes, by all means- give up your life for a myth based on no facts.
Yes, be irrational, ignorant and negative people who condemn others.
So, sure you go right ahead and ignore those people.
And, you will be going against everything you've been taught, which helped you form your belief.
I always wanted to ask you, why do you double space your sentences?
Who are we to judge any one else on what they believe, as you have so clearly done. Maybe you dont know how we think or understand why we believe in God but that is because you have never opened your ears and eyes, to me, Jesus Christ my savior is everything to me, so why would I want to surround myself with people who have no respect for what I believe in? I will not surround myself with a bunch of stumbling blocks.
Exactly, they are stumbling blocks placed by Satan, let them stew in their own venom.
They reject Christ, they don't want ANYONE telling THEM what to do, they believe in annihilation when you die, I say, so be it, let them have their isolation from Christianity, we can continue to discuss our faith, they can do as they will, but as for me and my house, we will ignore their inane and contemptuous comments and asinine remarks.
Umm.. how exactly am I to 'open my ears'?
Would you be so kind as to draw a diagram for me pertaining to this remarkable feat. Perhaps you can get on your private hotline to God for help. I mean, 'the opening of the ears' sounds such a scientifically absurd phenomenon that surely God is the only person (well, he's not really a person is he - more a kind of energy bubble floating around yonder) skilled in performing such a baffling task.
And when my ears are open, what happens next? Does my brain plop out?
war har har har
He doesn't mean people; he means their goofy comments.
The idea of two super powers, good and evil, fighting it out over we mortals is old and tired. The concept of God has been re-thought as a kinder presence, a more pleasant figure than the terrorizing judge promoted by Christianity. Any system of thought that requires you to abandon your sense of reason is a questionable system. Christianity has such a requirement.
Hey, Max, the last time God spoke to me He said, "When you see a guy named Maximus591 appearing before you at the strangest times, take it as a sign that I am God."
I'm thinking maybe you and I ought to listen a little closer, eh bro?
I've listened. I really have. I've even 'opened my ears' in my quest to listen. But nothing.
This lazy schmuck of a God can't be all that. But then, I'm not a believer you see. And that's the problem. In order to hear you need to believe. Without belief you hear... nothing,
This feeble logic can be applied to almost anything. Take a shell on a beach. Some believe when you hold the shell to your ear you hear the sound of the ocean. This is not the case. What you're hearing is little more than ambient noise captured within the shell. But this explanation is boring. It's just well, not sexy is it? The sound of the ocean theory is much more sexy. God is like this. For many, God is the ultimate sexed-up explanation. God is the sound of the ocean in the sea shell. It's what dimwit believers want to believe. It feels right to them. Believing anything different means a significant leap towards intelligent reasoning, logic and understanding. And those concepts just aren't sexy are they? They require work. They require a mind that is capable of questioning. Where's the sex in that? Nope. God is the ultimate porn of the sex industry. He sells. He satisfies. He requires no investement at all. He's a two minute hand-job to provide quick instant satisfaction without having to use your mind.
Yawn. Wow, you're just asking for someone to come along and call you an idiot in the right way, aren't you? Well, uh, lots of energy in that post...I guess.

Yes, He still speaks to His people. He's spoken to us through His written Word which we call The Holy Bible. However, with my experience, God doesn't say anything to me if I'm already not lining myself up with His written Word. I would hear people testify about God speaking to them all the time, and I'd wonder for a number of years what it'd be like for Him to speak to me. He didn't begin speaking to me until I started taking what He's already said seriously, which was when I began a vigorous spiritual enrichment to accept His calling to teach. And it was one day out of the blue around five years ago when I was studying His Word, He spoke to me clear as day and asked, "Why would I waste My time giving you a rhema word when you won't even pay attention to what I've already written?" It's kind of like having one of your children drive a BMW off the cliff and get mad at you for not being willing to replace the Bimmer with a Bentley.
What wisdom was imparted in your answer. Thank you for sharing.
If anyone wants to hear more about God speaking to us, check out Joseph Hedgecock, he has a real handle on the whole thing.

God speaks in myriads of ways. Once when I was going into Greenville, South Carolina I was not aware of the racial tension at a university there. God spoke through Scripture: Fear thou not for I am with thee; be not dismayed for I am thy God.Someone I met in Greenville invited me home. I found out a little about how racial and religious beliefs make people- even so called Christians - behave.
As I write this, God is speaking. My salary was cut $1000 and the error has not been corrected. What is God saying to me as I struggle to buy basic essentials and pay bills? For my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Faith is the key.I have decided to listen and trust God.
Never have the righteous been forsaken nor their seed begging for bread. No weapon formed against you shall prosper. Acknowledge Him in all your ways and He shall direct your paths. I pray that God would give you wisdom and peace during this time of financial transition.
I used to think that he talked to everybody.
Still caint believe that he don't. Yaul are teasing???
Right.
You are right ... He does speak to everybody. The problem is not that He isn't speaking ... it's that we aren't listening.
Yes I beleive that God talks to his people! Some people have to know how to be trained to hear his voice. God talks to his people in different ways though.
I remember being "told" to pray for someone, it was the middle of the night and it was about someone I detest. I tried to just lie in bed and throw up a quick non-sincere prayer but that sure didn't work. I was overwhelmed with a sense of dread and urgency and rolled right out of bed onto my knees and started to pray that God would do whatever was necessary in this guy's life. Very strange. I was nonplussed honestly, why would God insist that I pray for someone so urgently? It's not like he needs me to ask him to do what he tells me to ask him to do...anyway, I found out the next morning that the guy had been on the phone with my sister to come pick up his kids because he was going to kill himself and didn't want the kids to find him.
He didn't commit suicide (his wife had killed herself, that's why he felt like this, the kids didn't need two parents to do that!), eventually he found a girlfriend who became his wife. I said she was an answer to prayer. The guy and my sister started laughing at me for it because the marriage wasn't 'successful'. It was hard to understand for a long time - until the guy gave the children to the wife, she officially adopted them, they love and adore her. Then he went off to Iraq. The answer to prayer that this woman was, was for the children, not for him.
AWESOME Testimony! His ways are not our ways ... nor are His thoughts our thoughts.
Something I've discovered is that God works not really in mysterious ways, more like BIZARRE. It's always so convoluted and unexpected.
For me it's been a bit too intense at times, when I look back over my life it's like all the improbabilities occurred in one person. I'm the opposite of a drama queen, I'm the boring, spectator of life sort of person. I was perfectly comfortable with my biases, I tried to avoid the types of people I considered morally bankrupt. Then all in one short span of time, I found myself involved in the lives of murderers, homosexuals, liars, child abusers, and prostitutes. NOT WHERE I WANTED TO BE. I heard their stories, helped when I could, loved them, and didn't recognize myself. Making yourself available as an instrument of God puts you on a runaway roller coaster.
Yes He does talk to his people, but it takes a little practise to hear what it is He is saying. Pray, read your Bible, meditate, and you will hear. God spoke to me when I was 15 yrs. old, and I wanted to take my own life. I heard Him as if He were in the room with me.
He gave me the reasons I could not take my life, and I believed Him. I am still here...
Psalm 23 is one of my favorites. Praise Him! He has great things for you.
You are giving me so many funny ideas ! But I can't say anything cause I'll be banned .( for heretic and raw )
May i ask ddsurfsca, what did GOD say to you if you remember.
Atheists are very far from GOD and their hearts are evil. And by the way, GOD is not an old man and HE doesn´t look like a man if anyone think HE is.
You represent the enemy of GOD, satan the cursed with your evil heart and haughtiness.
But hey tantrum its your life, and your way of thinking.
But believe it or not, you are what GOD wanted you to be.
@ SammyTheFinishBoy said Atheists are very far from GOD and their hearts are evil. And by the way, GOD is not an old man and HE doesn´t look like a man if anyone think HE is.
The theology of Atheism is as varied and dimensional as is Christianity. to say that all atheists are evil is not correct. Many self professed Atheists simply do not agree with particular concepts of God. We can not describe God putting him into any one concept. We can not put Atheists into one single concept either.
Any time that we judge another person is detrimental for the one doing the judging. When we throw judgment on another some of it splashes back on ourselves.
My apologies jerami. Of course atheists can be good deeds doing people and they can have good manners etc.
Good mornin Tantrum and Sami
It is always good to see ya on here Tantrum and nice to meet ya Sammi.
I have always heard that there are three rules to finding contentment.
# 1 Do not take ourselves too seriously.
# 2 Refer to rule # 1
# 3 And be very cautious as to the things that we hate, and the way in which we go about hating them.
Otherwise we become worse than the thing that we are hatin
Yes, I believe that God speaks in many different ways. I have never heard him in audible voice but I have seen Him come through others to meet my needs. He doesn't speak any more than He does because we do not live our life in a suitable way for Him to speak as He did in the olden times. If we are close enough to God, He will manifest Himself and show you it is Him speaking. Not necessairly in words but in actions. I have had this happen through my life. Of course I am a believer and know that there is nothing impossible through the loving hand of God.
Well said. Thank you for sharing. In todays world we have so many distractions that keep us from hearing Him clearly but if we will quiet ourselves ... we can hear Him.
whoooo girl, his people is kinda limiting ya think? here i go,,,,,,,,oh no
hi Precious Pearl, you are indeed precious to God. How do I know? God tells me so. God indeed does speak to His people.God spoke to me many things. direct words, word for word..here are some samples:
"Life is like a mystery
There r clues that we need to seek n find
Life is full of ups n downs
n it is God's strength that we need
so as to carry on in this life
Continue your faith in God
U will not be disappointed
if u continue to do so
Because He is the Alpha n Almighty
n nothing goes wrong
with Him around u."
(these words received for somebody)
"just continue to trust in God.
Be calm when you speak to him. use the wisdom of God
Ask for God's wisdom n strength to deal with him.
he has to learn to grow n to mature
and this won't happen if you are going
to tell him n help him in every stage of his life.
Listen to your heart. deal with him with love.
always focus on God n have Him in the picture.
that everything will turn out well.
do not doubt or fear come in the way.
use pure love to solve this.
see his situation, his past n future in God's view.
God's way is always higher.
do not use your own understanding to try to understand.
for it won't work. Lean on God.
Accept His mercy n grace.
He will bring you n your son through this."
(i received this in my hour of need n great anxiety.
the words guide n comforted me.
they are so accurate n true.)
He never stopped or changed the way He speaks.
It is humanity that has stopped & changed the way they listen.
eh, whadya say? jeje
do you have an "ear nest" infection.
(don't be upset, i couldn't resist )
No ya don't need nothing special...
Like the song says.."everybody gota serve somebody"
Everybody got a voice that they bear.
Hay ..where have ya been. I peeped in on your profile the other day to see if ya were stil doin your thang and ya were.
Yeah. I went back to school, so I've been a bit busy lately. How have you been?
I been gettin more old and decripid every day.. Yea for me
yesterday I fell over to tha side while falling down tha slide. but when i come to the battom of tha slide I landed in tha middle pointed in a streight line.
what does tham mean... don't remember whad direction I was pointed in... Does that make any difference????
How rude and selfish of my self. what ya been learnin while ya was involved with ta renewed schoolin ???
Lets keep on topic... Did God speak to ya and tell ya that ya needed more schoolin?
He did. He said: Sheepie! Go forth and learn so that you can teach!
I find it refreshing to know that I'm too old to learn a new trick. Too old to learn. the brain is kinda like a computer and mine is too full to accept another program without deleating one of those other ones. don't remember which one that might be so it probably don't matter anyway..
Knowing my luck it would be the abilty to tie my shoes.
Ready? *Readies himself* Architectural and Engineering Design. Phew!
sory I sent this off too quick. Everybody gotta follow the foice that they hear. to each their own. Might be the same voice but different words.
I don't believe in any god. I think that what people believe is a god talking to them is really just the normal everyday answer popping into their head just like it does for everyone who is seeking answers.
There's a saying when the student is ready the teacher appears. Well, I think what this means is when the person is receptive, the answer becomes clear. This happens to everybody, it has nothing to do with your particular faith or god.
hi Pandoras, God is real n does speak. God is not a fortune-teller. He can tell u very personal things only u alone knows, things nobody else knows. this way u know it's God. and the words are so accurate n comforting.
if u like i can get a word for u.
if it helps u to believe.
also it will guide u n bless u.
u must open up your heart a little to receive.
2 more samples:
a direct Word from God for a friend who believes in Him:
thus says the Lord:
"To love is to care for others
as I care for u.
The world around u is full of evil
n to find true love nowadays
is a very hard thing to do
because men n women alike
all have become so selfish
n so very self-centered.
All they want is the best for themselves.
They think only of themselves.
But there's still hope in Me.
I alone AM FAITHFUL n TRUTHFUL.
You can safely lean on Me
in EVERYTHING
because I AM always there
to help you in your times of your needs.
Come to Me.
Everything that has happened in your life
is the results of the choices you had made.
Even when bad things happened,
it's also your choices you choose to response
how you choose to face them.
Just know that you are not alone
n nothing is impossible with God.
Everyday is a new day.
Just receive it with an open heart
n a positive mindset."
a Word for another friend:
thus says the Almighty God to you:
"I never stop loving My creation;
I never quit loving them.
Know the real God.
Seek the truth.
Find your purpose and calling in life.
You are born into this earth for a reason.
Have peace with one another.
Fulfill the calling in your life.,
And you will see your life change.
Believe in what is right and stand firm in your belief.
Do not let lies blind you, or prevent you from progressing.
Set your life in order.
Set your principles and priorities right, and stick to them."

Why do you believe that your God needs worshipping? If a God is truely a God, then a God alreadly knows these things about it. All the singing, prayers, and false promises mean nothing. I believe that when you take care of our fellow man that is worshipping.

Hypothetical Question: What if it were proven there's only one true God and It wasn't your God?For this question, you must use your imagination. You must pretend the premise of the question is true and then answer it accordingly. The premise is that God has been discovered and it's been proven...
