Looking for some Hubbing Tips?
Check out Google's guest blog posts, April contest entries, & our upcoming podcast!
Are you involved in this month's Hub Challenge (it's never too late to join :D) and in need of some extra inspiration? Or are you looking for some tips and ideas to help your Hubbing in general? Look no further, my friend!
The nice folks from the Google AdSense team have been doing a wee series of guest posts on the HubPages blog. In these posts, they've offered some fabulous tips (which are summarized in the Pro Tips section of the newsletter below) which you might find helpful as you Hub along this month.
If you're in need of further inspiration, have a look at the brilliant contest entries we've seen so far in the So You Think You Can Write Online contest. Over the past two weeks, I have seen some of the most fantastic Hubs on fascinating topics ranging from the head-shrinking Shuar of the Amazon Basin to the amazing adventures of Tintin.
These Hubs have been driving me to write many new Hubs of my own - I bet they'll give you some great ideas, too. If you want to see the very best of the best, visit the contest page to see the winners so far, log out and view the Hubs displayed on the HubPages homepage, or read the recommend Hubs in this week's newsletter.
Finally, we're about to roll out a second podcast series (in addition to Weekly Advice from Everyday Experts) called the Online Writing Insider that is going to be packed with online writing tips. Keep an eye out for the first episode (coming soon!) and send me suggestions for any special tips you'd like us to share.
Happy Hubbing,
Simone Haruko Smith

Google AdSense makes a guest appearance on the HubPages Blog

Tips from the Google AdSense Team
In the most recent guest blog post from the Google AdSense Team, Thomas Tran shared some excellent tips on optimizing Hubs for AdSense:
- Write authentic, non-scripted, easy-to-read, and structured content: One great way to do this is to break your Hubs into several text capsules that each have descriptive headers
- Get inspiration from Google AdWords Keyword tool and the Top Search Queries from the Google Webmaster Tools: We've got a helpful tutorial on the Google Keyword tool in the Learning Center
- Use unique and accurate titles: Search-friendly titles are a must! Try your best to be at once neat, keyword friendly, descriptive, and interesting with your titles
- Promote your Hubs internally and externally: Share your Hubs with your friends! We've made it easy with the share button at the bottom of each Hub, not to mention the Facebook and Twitter sharing buttons by each Hub's title

Dolores Monet Interviews suziecat7
A closer look at an inquisitive and adventurous Hubber
Susiecat7 is a Hubber who has been here for two years. Though not the most prolific Hubber, her articles are unique and well written, covering topics such as strange cookbooks, the blunderbuss, and the world's best echoes. If you are looking for quality, Susiecat7 is your gal.
Susie's profile is short, but her intelligence, kindness, humor, and humility are obvious to all who read her Hubs. Let's take a deeper look at one excellent Hubber to see what makes her tick.
1. You say so little about yourself in your profile - could we hear a bit about you?
When I was young, I suffered from a terrible case of travel lust. I would pick a place on the map and go. I'd stay for awhile and the bug would bite me again and I'd be off. I did manage to educate myself along the way. I was the perpetual college student but finally got a degree in English, of all things. I read anything I can get my hands on. Now that I am happily settled down in the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina, I work as a manager to make ends meet. I'm still trying to find a way out of that and work from home instead doing what I love to do most - research and write. I'm one of those animal loving people that non-animal loving people like to make fun of. I have several pets. I believe life is not life without a cat on your lap. I'm a hapless but enthusiastic gardener and get revved up every year. Cooking and a good game of scrabble make me happy.
2. What brought you to HubPages and what do you hope to accomplish here?
I came across HubPages quite by accident. I was doing my usual cruising around online looking for some kind of information and landed on a HubPages article. Being nosy by nature, I checked it out and thought I'd sign up. My first Hub was a pitiful recipe Hub that still lies dead at the bottom of my Hub list. I've already accomplished a lot at HubPages by learning so much from other Hubbers. It is a wonderful community and I likely will keep on writing there despite the fact that Google has forgotten me. I see HubPages as a comfortable launching pad for me and as an online home.
3. Do you write for any other sites?
I have written for eHow and probably will again. Before finding HubPages, I wrote a few articles for Orble. I am working on my own websites now and hope to have them up and running by summer's end. My obstacle is always time.
4. Your Hubs cover a wide variety of topics - where do you find your inspiration?
Oh, good question. I am just interested in so many things. Every night I write down ten potential topics I might want to write about. When I have the time I research them to see if they have wings. If I'm bored researching it then I cross it off the list. I particularly enjoy writing about history, women, music and websites. I like reading about food. Since I'm innately curious about everything, I always have another article waiting its turn in the batting box.
5. Do you back link for traffic or just go with the flow?
I do the usual back linking but probably not enough. Once in awhile I'll get all gung ho about a Hub that isn't getting the attention I think it deserves and go on a back link spree. Mostly I go with the flow.
6. I love the images that you use. Could you tell us where you get some of them, or is it a secret? (Lot's of Hubbers are hungry for royalty fee or public domain images. )
I'm happy to share. I get most of my photos at everystockphoto.com. I also get them from Wikipedia, of course and MorgueFile and Imagebase.
7. Your Hubs are well written, well researched, and obviously unique. About how long does it take you to create a Hub?
Thank you. It takes me quite a long time to write a Hub. I'm always amazed at people who crank one after another out in so little time. I like to be comfortable with the subject matter I choose so I study it before I write. Most of my Hubs take a week or more to get together.
8. Everybody is in a stir about the recent changes in Google's algorithm. what is your take on the bruhaha - or do you even care?
Well, yes I care. My earnings on adsense are non-existent these days. I never made a lot but even a few dimes a day made me feel good. It's why I'm considering writing for eHow again. But I believe the good folks at HubPages will work it out. There are too many quality writers there and with time I believe it will get better. Either way, it's still home to me.

While Fawntia and I baked and meditated, the HubNuggets team searched high and low for the nominees from the Autos, Personal Finance, and Home categories. Thankfully they were successful!
