Used to be a huge Great Dane that had the record, just as bad I reckon for drool. Don't know if he's still living.

No sadly that Great Dane had passed on. I read it a few months ago

Too bad it is a fake!  My kids would love to have a huge dog -- the little ones love riding the one we have.  smile

I could see the possibility of a dog that big...of course, that's one that would DEFINITELY have to be properly leash-trained as a very young pup! I've been trying to work with my mom's 155lb Newfoundland pup who hasn't been properly trained yet, gets a little rough sometimes tongue.

Ralwus - the Dane you're referring to is Gibson. I believe he died recently. He was the tallest, but not the heaviest. I think another Dane now holds that title. Maybe it's one of my Great Danes!

What a giant! There wouldn't be much room left on the sofa to cuddle up to him! I wonder if other dogs are bewildered by him.

I've always wanted to own an Arcanine.  Being that they don't really exist, this pup would be the next best thing.

Oh Snopes, where would we be without you?

I recently saw pictures of a Newfoundland mix* who's the next contender for "world's tallest dog."  He's a pretty big dog!

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/0 … 13273.html

    * All the news stories call him a Landseer Newf.  But as someone who works part-time for a professional breeder of Landseer Newfs, I have to say... if he's not a mix, he ought to be.
