    I could see the possibility of a dog that big...of course, that's one that would DEFINITELY have to be properly leash-trained as a very young pup! I've been trying to work with my mom's 155lb Newfoundland pup who hasn't been properly trained yet, gets a little rough sometimes .

    Ralwus - the Dane you're referring to is Gibson. I believe he died recently. He was the tallest, but not the heaviest. I think another Dane now holds that title. Maybe it's one of my Great Danes!

    I recently saw pictures of a Newfoundland mix* who's the next contender for "world's tallest dog."  He's a pretty big dog!

    * All the news stories call him a Landseer Newf.  But as someone who works part-time for a professional breeder of Landseer Newfs, I have to say... if he's not a mix, he ought to be.
