All over the media in the US today we are seeing the headline "Americans will drink more milk than beer during the SuperBowl" Yet, here was the original post that seems to have started the brouhaha "Americans will consume more dairy drinks than beer and other alcoholic beverages over the up-and-coming Super Bowl weekend...according to the New York Daily News.
On Sunday, there will be more glasses of milk consumed in our homes during the Super Bowl telecast than any other beverage except soft drinks, the newspaper reported Harry Balzer, vice-president at NDP Group, as saying in a statement." Of course the NMPF has jumped on this doublespeak and is claiming it as a rally cry for 2010.
SO the doublespeak notwithstanding, which is it milk, dairy drinks or soft drinks? Personally in my house, it's likely to be dairy (that's my kahula and cream - always a little more cream than kahula) and soft drinks.
Hi Rope, beer for me, Corona here in Dallas my friends will be coming over and I will cook Asian foods
really?? can't say that I'll be drinking any milk during SP..
Rebekah, me either. I thought it was a hoax before I went searching and found the twisted words. Hey, who knows, if you have a party with adults and children, there could be more young ones than adults... NOT!
PDH, I'm coming to your house Seriously, sounds like a lot of fun, have a great time!
I agree maddie, ice cold coronas and cajun style bbQ.
Don't intend on watching the SuperBowl.
I also quit drinking a few years ago.
I'll probably not drink milk Sunday, because I rarely drink milk much anymore.
But, I hope everyone parties well and safe.
Our plan is beer and homemade Italian subs...giant-size, lol...
We can't wait!
Also--I can't imagine drinking milk during the Super Bowl, why that's Un-American, lol...
Cow milk is not the best thing for human stomach, definitely worse than good beer
No Super Bowl here but Soft drinks will be the favored for my scrabble party that day.
definite super bowl here. . just wondering does anyone really care what I am drinking. .. sad that is what some reporter had to write about today . but hey its the Daily News. . and the best part of that paper is by far the sports . .
Given the sloppy writing, I'd assume he was likely doing a favor for the NMPF lobbyists. As soon as it hit the wires, they have been shouting it from the roof tops.
Guess the pollisters didn't use any data from hubbers :
I think the Daily News if full of crap. We don't drink milk during Super Bowl. Sheesh!
Me too Flight! Too bad we can't push the "spam" button on his diatribe. (So what's your vote? I'm keeping a fun little tally here.)
