Hubbers Who Have Been My Support System: Installment Twenty
Quite a Journey
Nine months to the day since I started on HubPages, and I’m now on installment twenty of this love fest series where I say thank you to those who continually show support for me.
The reality of HP is this: even though I have 1,059 followers, few of them are heard from on a regular basis. People are, after all, busy, and their lives pull them in other directions. Some leave HP; some go on sabbatical; some get sick and yes, some die. There are even those who sign on to follow simply so they can get followers of their own.
Taking all that into account, the people I highlight in this series are the ones who I see on a regular basis. They are the ones who are continually engaging, who continually leave comments, and who are continually supportive in their comments.
Yes, I do believe comments are important. Not as a way to keep score but rather as a way to build community. Through comments I have met some wonderful people, and we have been very helpful to each other over these nine months. I would have never formed those relationships if it were not for comments left on my hubs, and comments I have left on the hubs of others.
I have rambled long enough. Let’s take a look at the latest in my Who’s Who of billybuc followers.
Thank You!
I Love the Name Silver Genes
I could tell you her real name but then I would have to kill you! LOL…just kidding! If she wants you to know then she will tell you. We’ll just call her by her Hub name of Silver Genes.
I have found this nice lady to be insightful, funny, engaging, genuine, and if you read her profile, quite talented. She has a couple home businesses going on the side, as well as the time she spends on HubPages, so she is quite busy, and yet she finds time to follow me and leave meaningful comments. I respect that kind of dedication, don’t you?
Beautiful Robin
Robin Grosswirth is her name, in reality and on HubPages, making her somewhat of a rarity! You can find Robin at http://robingrosswirth23.hubpages.com/.
What I know about Robin is this: she is a former school teacher, so right off she gets my respect. She also writes incredibly beautiful poetry, poetry that makes me think and delve into my own thoughts and motivations. However, her comments….wow….her comments are so deep, so complex and detailed, that I find myself reading her words several times so I can savor each syllable. I would have been proud to teach alongside her in a school, and that is quite possibly my highest praise.
My Friend Joan
If I ask you to name a classy human being, who would you come up with? If someone asked that of me, and I had to choose from the HubPages community, my next guest would be in the top five. Her Hub name is Joan Veronica and I’m guessing that’s her real name as well. You can find her at http://joanveronica.hubpages.com/.
So, what about this lady? I can tell you without hesitation that she probably knows more about World War II and the South Pacific Theater than any Hubber you will meet. She, too, is a former teacher, and her hubs are about as detailed as you will ever find. If you are at all interested in history then this lady is the person to meet. Besides that, and as an added bonus, she is a very nice person!
Installment Nineteen
- Hubbers Who Have Been My Support System: Installment Nineteen
Just a simple thank you to all who have supported me for the past eight and a half months. You have no idea how much you all mean to me.
Meet Deb from Oklahoma
Are you interested in birds? If so, then meet Aviannovice, an avid birdwatcher and somewhat of an authority on our fine-feathered friends. You can find her on HubPages at http://aviannovice.hubpages.com/.
Deb became interested in birds in 2004, and since then she has been caring for them, photographing them, and writing about them. Her Sunday series about Boomer Lake is something I look forward to each week. I might also mention that this intelligent lady is oil spill certified and environmentally aware, which of course means she can share a meal with me any old day. Intelligent, caring, and proactive in environmental issues….what’s not to like about her?
The first in this series
- The Writer's Workshop: Writers Who Have Been My Support System
To those out there who have supported this writer as he stumbles through the initial process of HubPages.
Jaye Is Her Name
Of course, with HubPages you can never be certain, but I think her real name is Jaye. Her Hub profile page is at http://jayewisdom.hubpages.com/.
In her profile she talks about wisdom, and during that talk she says that a desire to learn is essential for wisdom to occur. I can attest to that as a former teacher; she and I both agree that life’s lessons are invaluable as we try to attain wisdom.
She has been experimenting with something called “Flash Fiction” and you can find a series of those on her site. They are short stories, and I mean short, and she is becoming quite good at them, so good that I am encouraging her to put them into an ebook. Give her a shout out and find out for yourself why I value her friendship and following.
My Injured Friend
Her Hub name is Injured Lamb, and you can find her at http://injuredlamb.hubpages.com/.
Now, I don’t know as much about this lady as I do many of my followers. All I know for sure is that she is the mother of two teenage boys, she has eclectic taste when it comes to writing subjects, and her comments on my hubs are very sincere and encouraging.
In fact, from her comments, I can tell you that this lady is compassionate and is filled with empathy. We will probably never meet in person, but she is a person I would love to meet because of her sincerity. I love her writing style and her voice, and I’m pretty sure that if you get to know her you will feel the same way.
REMANIKI
Rema to her friends, and I’m proud to call myself her friend. This is one upbeat lady who believes in living in the now. You can find her at http://remaniki.hubpages.com/ and you won’t be disappointed.
I love her message because it is always powerful. Her latest hub spoke of blessing those who hurt you; if that isn’t a powerful and positive message I don’t know what is.
She has suffered from arthritis for quite a few years, but has finally found relief through proper breathing techniques, which she will tell you all about in a couple of her hubs.
Finally, she is a real human being. She cares about people, and she understands about the life experience, and her comments reflect that understanding. You would be well-advised to visit her.
That’s All Folks!
The list of followers keeps growing and I’m already behind (was I ever caught up?). I have the names all set for the next in this series, so until then, enjoy life and live it with gusto. It is, after all, your only chance to get it right!
Thank you, one and all, for a great ride on the Hubpages Express!
