Is anyone else obsessed with watching your page views rise after publishing a hub?

When I first publish a hub I obsessively watch to see the numbers rise! Am I narcissistic, or is this a habit shared by many of  my fellow hubbers?

No, I'm not obsessed at looking at the stats.  I'm too obsessed with pumping out content instead.  The stats will follow.

Yes i have also, but it's like waiting for a pot of water to boil .  It will never boil if we stand there and watch and wait. I would say walk away and come back the next day, that's what I am doing from now on.

At first I was...meaning after I joined hubpages, and then I realized and accepted that page views go up and down, and there's no particular rhyme or reason...or so it seems.

I am totally obsessed by the stats. I spend far more time watching them than writing.  After six months of this (slow learner) I think I am starting to understand why I don't get much traffic.

So stats are important.  Analyse that traffic, or lack of it.

i've never actually looked at the page views other then at a quick glance. i'm not on here to see who looks at what i wrote but i am very interested in who comments.

I definitely check back every so often to check up on my view count.

I'm obsessed with watching page views, but in my case I'm more interested in the total number of views in all of my hubs taken together. I'm also obsessed with frequently checking my adsense earnings. Now there is another thing to be obsessed with, that's the new HubPages ad program earnings. I'm granted to use the HubPages ad program yesterday, and in the first 24 hours I earned $0.19! Not bad, isn't it?

Yes, and I'm beginning to worry about it.  If I leave my computer for even ten minutes, once I return, I feel a tinge of excitement at the opportunity to check my stats.  Usually, this is followed by a tinge of disappointment. And repeat.

You're not alone.  I've only been on here three weeks but when I put a hub out there I expect to see numbers move within minutes...lol.  It's as if I think everyone on HubPages has been waiting for me to hit the publish button so they can read.  After a few minutes that idea goes away and I move onto something else. But I will leave the page up and in a corner if I'm at work and sitting in front of the computer.

    Always Paul smile

When you spent a lot of time to write something for the people, then you have to make sure if they are actually reading it or not?

So I check, both, my hub's stats and comments.

Yes, but I also think it is because I am pretty new and trying to figure out what works, what doesn't and how it works.

Yup, me too! I'm always excited to see that people have been reading my hubs, but I'm always disappointed when they don't leave any feedback. I view Hub Pages as a place to practice the art of writing-- so, to me, the feedback is the most important part!

I just published a hub and my eyes are glued to the darn screen again---also i just signed up for the Google analytics---I think this may be a bad move for my obsession----Thanks for commenting everyone! I'm glad I know I'm not alone!

Good question and I had to chuckle. I learned early in the game to do my best and not worry about it or try to figure out what makes our score go up or down. I have known others who were  obsessed with this which helped me come to the conclusion not to worry about it.
