   I think it must be traffic.  I have a hub that sometimes hits 100, then drops a day or two--then back up again.

   Although rare, a hub with a score of 100 is dependent on the numbers of visitors within a time frame.

   Yeah!! I totally agree with @duffsmom and @LuisEGonzalez hub score depends upon no. of visitors but why you should get visitors on your hub ? The Answer is your hub must be consist on rich content as well as updated news.

   Hubs with very good content will earn the 100 rating. Traffic, visitors' votes etc will push up the score, but it may not reach 100. And I think Hubpages staff (or automated program according to certain criterias) is pushing the good articles up to 100 scores, so as to attract more traffic to Hubpages.
   
   I have a few hubs with exceptionally good traffic, but its scores lower than other hubs with much fewer traffic.
   
   I believe Hubpages will help you to push up your score (to attract more traffic) if you write really good articles.
   
   On the other hand, generally, upward move in score mean increase in traffic.
   
   Just my 2 cents of opinion and observation.

   The closest I have come to a Hub that scored a 100 was my Hub on purchasing a Classic VW Beetle. While it doesn't get all the traffic that I would like it to, I have recieved some very nice comments. The rating on that particular hub seems to bounce around quite a bit. I have seen it as low as an 80 and as high as a 98. The content hasn't changed since I published it and the comments have really slowed down, so I wuld have to say that it is either dependant on the number of visitors per day or votes up vs. down..... or more likely both.
   
   Over all, I am happy with my traffic for how much time I have invested. With a little more work and optimization, I think it will do better.

    I have been pondering this too. My hubscore has declined a little and yet my traffic shot up in the last 2 days.
    I have certain hubs that get big hits everyday and others that seem to be slow cookers, take a little longer to rise.
    So the answer is.
    Good well written hubs draw traffic but you must read other peoples hubs and leave comments and votes to increase your hubscore, I haven't done that for a couple of days and that is the only thing that I have done different.  hope this helps!

    I think it is a combination of things, pretty much what everybody else is saying, you have to write quality hubs, you have to participate in the forums; be an active member in the community; follow hubbers and leave comments; hopefully hubbers will enjoy some of your hubs and leave comments as well.

    Contents makes a Hub important for hub pages community, the more unique theme or subject you chose the more your score is keeping the quality as most important part of a hub score.

    Thats a hard one. I haven't come across many that are at 100. Its so hard. I think it needs to be very detailed, reseasonably long and very lucky

    Good quality, interesting "forever" hub on a topic that will always strike someone as interesting, along with lots of traffic, which you can boost by posting comments, answering questions, and creating backlinks to your hub.

    It probably depends on the hub - I'm sure it is possible to get a 100 ratings by getting a lot of traffic, or for a hub without a lot of traffic, it could get that rating by receiving a lot of user feedback (i.e. comments...).

    It comes down to traffic when going over the 95 score. I found that most of the 100s are ranking high for the topic keyword in Google for quite large amounts of traffic.

    I have only been on HubPages for a couple of weeks, but I have already wondered about this myself.  I have noticed the scores on my hubs and my profile fluctuating.  Last night I entered only the title of a hub I intend to start working on and the score has increased several points in 24 hours without any traffic or any content.

    A Hub can captures peoples imagination prompting them to commen and rate positively. A steady stream of traffic to the hub is another factor. Also, I think the hubscore of the author contributes to a certain extent too.
