In my time here, I have seen the forums go downhill, really. I'm a money hubber, always have been; I'm not here to argue on the political or religious forums, but these are the ones who are keeping the forums going now!
Randy was all over the place. He had input to make in all sorts of topics, half of which I never read of course, because there are certain forums I avoid.
The forums I like best are the ones that are all about Hubpages, and its problems.
And Randy was always right there with his input, suggestions etc
I didn't always agree with what he said, I don't have to - this is not a mutual fan club, but he was right there, stating his opinion as I believe we all have the right to. What does the American constitution say about freedom of speech?
Isn't that the cornerstone of all things American?
Freedom of speech. You can say what you want, and not be slung in jail for it.
HP forum rules are quite clear. You cannot insult another hubber. You can insult their beliefs, so long as it doesn't get personal.
"What you said is rubbish" is OK, "You are rubbish" is not.
Yet from what I am reading, Randy was picked on, made out to be a scapegoat. The prize specimen. "Look, folks, if you write comments the way Randy does, you'll be banned".
I remember one of his recent bannings. He'd argued with an Elite on the forums. Reading it, I got the impression that the whole dialogue was tongue-in-cheek.
She said, he said, both traded minor 'insults' and neither could be taken seriously.
Yet Randy was banned, again.
I don't like this. It's like someone has the power with no sense of humour, and had something against him.
I can understand everything you said. I also agree about Randy leaving, not only because of his HubPages usage and knowledge, but other topics he weighs in on which are not related to politics or religion.
He was cool to play around with and had a great sense of humor. Sometimes it was difficult to pick out his sarcasm, but the longer I talked with him, I learned to do just that.
Three months is a very long time to be banned from the Forum, but that's between Randy and ADM. Randy helped me navigate HubPages when I didn't know what to do with those recent SPAMMERS. And, we shared the same views about (GULP!) Helium.com--a former online "employer" that we shared. I will miss his Forum posts because he was the one to cut through the crap. I know, I know. Whenever you stand out, you have to take the heat. As writers, don't we already know that? Randy, whatever you do, I wish you only the best.
I miss having him on the forums - I know there were times he made some of us want to scream (or cry), but at least we all knew where his thoughts were and he was hilariously candid. I don't know the issues behind the ban, and they're not my business, but I do hope he reconsiders and decides to rejoin the forums when the three months have passed.

Should those who regard these forums as a place to preach, evangelize and view as a mission field be banned for doing so, especially when they also state adamantly they do not care whether or not anyone dislikes it?
