Hi,
It's somewhat irritating to find that my hubs have to wait 24 hours until they are published. I understand this if someone is new and you have to test the first dozen or so hubs, but to apply all forms of censure to everybody regardless, seems somewhat harsh...
Or am I missing something here?
I agree with you there. I think this is a big risk. I hope no one steals my content while it is pending or it's going to be a bit hard to prove it's mine.
I remember earlier this year, the fiasco with the thief stealing hundreds of hubs each day just as they were published, some within minutes.
They are published immediately unless you are on moderation. But they are not able to be indexed by search engines until out of 'pending.'
I think that's what she meant......at least that's what I thought she meant.
No, it's not what I meant. My hub actually isn't published and says that I have to wait 24 hours.
My hubs have always published on my profile immediately until the last few. I have no idea where I would find the setting for 'idle hubs.' Not sure what an idle hub is. Please could you explain that to me. Thanks.
They are listed in your account Sophia, marked with the 'pending' status, but they are still viewable. Just not, as jackarless said, released for external index. Your followers will still get notification of a new hub but they do not show up in your profile.
No, I am not published immediately. It says I must wait 24 hours. There's a notice next to my hub that says 'the status of my hubs will be updated and published if they are new after 24 hours.'
I am going to be extremely angry if for some reason I have been picked out as someone who needs their hubs 'moderated.' I am a professional writer with half a century of experience.
I noticed a delay in the last hub I published and when I checked the next day it was up. There is no sign of my hub being published and I have NEVER given HP any reason for moderation. My work is excellent and always has been.
Essentially they are published but not released for external indexing or internal listing. Regardless of a Hubbers previous writing quality//quantity, all new articles are put through the test, whereby the algorithm learns the habits of content itself and, in the future, is prepared to handle the data correctly. To my knowledge, should the new hub be released before the 30 day crawl {8th of the month, normally} it is indexed, else must wait for the next crawl date. I also believe this is a massive effort to reduce hit-and-run articles, spam-content and/or articles that cannot go evergreen. However, as said in another thread, hubs can be indexed and gain traffic with Pending { even Zzz} status by reloading the sitemap or submitting the full link itself {works on Bing or Google } and using social media outlets.
James.
James, I'm not talking about indexing. I'm talking about the fact that it doesn't show up on my profile.
You can tell if it published by going to the url for the hubpage in your browser.
It's not on my profile page. And why should it say that it won't be published for 24 hours if that was the case?
Most of us get a message about being 'pending' for 24 hours. Can you cut and paste what your message says?
How are your hubs set up for the display capsule//slideshow and have you enabled Idle Hubs on your profile?
Idle Hub FAQ
If you go here: http://hubpages.com/my/hubs/stats
And look in the right column. Live hubs have a green dot, pending hubs (published but not released to search engines) have two arrows, and idle hubs have 'zzz'.
Published hubs are in blue letters, non-published ones are in red letters. What color is the title of the hub in question? What is its url?
Thank you, it's sorted. However, the pub wasn't idle because I just wrote it. And the same thing happened previously. I seriously don't expect HP to generate traffic of a profitable nature as I think content writing is a fool's dream at this point.
No worries.
BTW, ALL new pubs are considered Idle until released from Pending and become Featured on-site, as well as released to search engines for indexing. In addition, all Zzz pubs are also considered Idle until released from sleep-mode.
James.
I have no trouble with sharing them on my networks. They come up when I click on the links, so that is good.

Why isn't my last published hub showing up in my profile page?Usually, as soon as I publish an hub it shows up in the hubs section (top) of my profile page, but yesterday I published one and nothing... Anyone experiencing the same?

The Googlebot visits new hubs within 30-60 minutes while they are in 'Pending' mode and the NOINDEX tag is in place for 24 Hours. This means that the bot does not index the page, and does not return for days or weeks. New pages do not get indexed for days or weeks. This causes lost traffic and lost...

I love HubPages, I feel that I have learned so much here and my confidence in writing non-fiction took such a huge leap when I was invited onto the Apprenticeship program last year. I have met some wonderful people here - both staff and other Hubbers. But as may other people have said, the idling...

Please can someone explain to me why, if one decides not to wait 24 hours to put up one's hub, one then has to wait three or four weeks for Google to index. This has absolutely nothing to do with Google, but has everything to do with punitive action from HP.

I have been at HP for 11 months with very few publishing problems. This past week, I've had THREE of my new hubs idled. Two of them were product reviews for the contest, one was political in nature. When the first one was idled, I contacted HP and basically was given no info...

Could any one please tell me why my hubs could stay for about 24 hours without being published. When I clicked the published button, I got the message that says that it is going to be reviewed after which it will be published but it is almost 24 hrs now and I am still getting the same message. Thanks
