Does anyone know the maximum number of ads that are supposed to be on our hubs? I just did a specific search for one of my hubs, and I clicked on the resulting link (I've been wondering if it was unindexed - it had been copied, and the traffic dropped down to zero). There were 11 ads, including a garish banner across the top, at least two other ads before the hub itself started, an ad on the far right, ads under the main photo and another series of ads at the bottom.
Somewhere, I thought I read we would have maybe 4-6 ads on a hub? This is overkill, it's embarrassing, and it's no wonder the traffic on it has plummeted. Aside from it being copied, it's being sabotaged by being overloaded with ads.
Are any others finding this? Is it normal, and maybe I'm misinformed?
You are right. 11 ads is waaay over the line!
I'm having the opposite problem. I'm not seeing ads on anyone's hubs. I was wondering if it's my computer.
Standard is 3 google ads above the page line and 2 HP ad sense at the bottom. I would look for a virus.
Have you looked at any featured hubs you have when you are *not* logged into hubpages? What I see is consistent with what Marcy sees. What we see in hubpages looks different from what a non hubpages reader sees. I don't think it is a virus if we are all seeing it.
FYI - when I click on the same hub from within the site, only 4-5 ads show up. Both are HubPages URLs. This happened within just a few minutes of time.
I noticed this the other day when I did a search for one of mine. The public view looks different from what we see here.
Adding: Even with the ads we see here, there are more in the non-hubber view of the articles.
Check it out. The search I entered had an exact clip from my hub, and I'd cleared my search results in the browser, so it didn't 'recognize' me. Try any of your own hubs - see what you get?
I'd like an explanation from HP. Are we getting the same 60/40 ratio from the public view as what we are told we get here? Why do our pages look different here than from an outside search?
You can also use "private browsing" from Firefox and view your hubs this way. I'm going to look at my other ones now too and see if it is consistent.
Marcy, I went to the learning center and looked at this post. The layout they show here: http://hubpages.com/learningcenter/mone … n-partners
is consistent with what a non-hubber sees. I'm wondering what the rationale is for not giving us that view in hubpages? There's a lot in the top but it is consistent with what they tell you at the learning center. Interesting.
I'm curious, too - I remember this being brought up before, and somehow not pursued. I've gone back and forth a few times this evening & seen the same contrast, each time.
I believe that the "ad units" can contain more than one ad, such as the one at the bottom that shows 3 or 4 adsense ads.
Why not see them? Could be a matter of bandwidth, or it could be that you're not paid for your own ads. Or it could be something entirely different.
The ones I'm seeing are not Amazon, etc., and the banner at the top is not explainable. I accessed it from the same device, same IP, etc., all within minutes - so bandwidth should not be an issue. It appears one way when I'm logged on, and another when I access from the 'public' door.
I wonder if wilderness means bandwidth on the internal HP servers?
Yes. They have commented that they are running low - it was one of the reasons for not showing a G+ button. I'm certainly no programmer, but if they can't show a button they would certainly be having trouble showing big ads as well. If those ads aren't valuable (and they aren't, to the hubber) then it would seem to make sense to delete them from our view.
Wow. I hadn't ever looked at my hubs from an "outsiders view" before. LCDWriter is right that the ads look how the Learning Center explains, but I didn't realize how ad filled (and ugly) this actually looks in a hub until I logged out of HubPages and viewed one.
I have been using my hubs to show potential employers examples of my work, so I think I will just turn the HubPages Ad Program off for now to limit the number of ads in my hubs and improve their appearance.

I thought if a hubpage was listed in Google search it was featured. But apparently that is not the truth. I guess I will keep the hubs up and run my own check on them.

Hey hubbers out there.. I am new to hubpages and i am not sure if I can really make money here. Like i have seen some success stories in hubpages but that seems to be long time ago. I am a student and i have little extra time. I would like to utilize my time writing hubs here only if I can really...

I know we are all here to make some money, but having 10 ads on a page slows down loading time to such an extent that readers just don't have the patience to wait for a page to load. So they click away without reading our pages. To prove my point that the very high number of ads is to...

I only have 5 hubs on here. I don't know if it's because I also write for other sites, and I'm used to earning a penny or two a day, but my earnings through the ad program have been impressive considering the lack of hubs that I have. Hubpages is definitely working for me. But, google, on the other...
