I made all the required corrections but the Editbot Icons still remain on my Hubs. I have heard some say that they disappear ... but none of mine have. Just wondering why?
Jacqueline,
you are not supposed to make any corrections. The editbot symbols are there telling you that the corrections were made automatically. Normally if you click "show...corrections" at the top of your hub that will show editbot that you have checked it's corrections, then if you click 'hide corrections" it will have removed the symbols from your hubs on the accounts page. if you have used the hub tool to make the corrections yourself as well you won't be able to get rid of the symbols.
Alas, looks like I am doomed forever to have 3 black and 2 white bots on my stats page. Way back when, I deleted the offending comments on 3 hubs and corrected the text on 2 others. Tough town the internet.
I wish I had know that before. Because I did make the changes according the "show corrections." The "Show corrections" indicator is gone now. This site is become a real "headache" for me!
There is a known issue that is affecting some Hubs edited by EditBot.
For this subset of Hubs the icon will show in "My Accounts" but if you view the live Hub there is no "show x corrections" button in order to review and clear the notice for that Hub.
We have shared this information with our engineering team so they can determine and address the issue.
Thanks for your patience!
Thanks for letting me know. I feel much better!
I just wanted to give you an update and let you know this should be fixed for all but one of your Hubs now ("The Realities of Retirement") and we are working to resolve that one as well.
Thanks for your patience!
So glad my exasperation with the little critters caused me to do nothing when they initially sprinkled my stat page. I didn't bother with it until the updated 'eeediot'bot explanation came out. At that point, Jacqueline, I did what Jodah has outlined and they all disappeared the first time.
All but 5 of 354 erroneous Editbot icons have disappeared from my stats page, despite me committing the heinous crime of editing my hubs!!!, to remove so-called 'errors'. The icons that remain are black ones (comments only, no button) +++ one weird bug. I was able to clean up a handful of stragglers that reported "(0) no newones" by clicking the button, switching the tick off and on, and editing the 'offending' text in the text. Poof!! button and icon gone! Nice to see the multi-colored band-aids removed. Almost all healed now - Editbot free and vaccinated against. Bye!
I think it's time for me to pick up my toys and go play someplace else. It has become something of a disappointment for me and I can't write when I feel like this. Haven't been able to for weeks. It was easier for me to get my two Master Degrees!
Success! WOW!
No more icons
+ No More buttons
+ No more Editbot 'errors'
# All clean now #
Still got one black and two white critters on the stats page. Nothing critter-related at all in the hubs themselves. The adventure continues...
I think the little editbot looks kind of cute. I am not exceedingly bothered if the bot wants to correct spelling in a comment, but I guess I take a divergent view on this.
If they hang around much longer, I'll just adopt them. Then I'll feed them to the cat.
I still have 2 editbots I can't get rid of. I don't remember correcting them manually. One of the hubs is short, and I can't find the error. The other is long, and I've read it several times, finding nothing. I guess I'm stuck with the bots.
A way to get rid of them just trickled across my mind...
For my black one, I just need to post an illiterate comment. Next time bot comes through, I can then get rid of it.
Same thing for my two white ones. I'll just do a couple illiterate edits. Next time bot comes through, I can then get rid of them.
Now all that remains is for me to work up the energy to do it, don't anybody hold their breath.
Hi paradigm search,
That's a great idea! I'll post a comment that is poorly worded or spelled, and I'll be able to see the mistakes I cannot find now.
I have these bots on all my three hundred and something hubs....so far I have clicked on the 'yep seen em link' at the top, so...only another two hundred to go........um!
BUG REPORT: I have an EditBot symbol on one hub but there's no way to "show corrections" because that button isn't appearing when I click the hub title to go to the hub ( /valentines-day-paper-mache-crafts). I suspect the code may be choking on the term(s) paper mache or mache ... but am not sure.
I've opened (and in some cases, re-opened) my Hubs that had the Edit-bot icons on 'em and almost all of them have disappeared... there are three or four stragglers that don't want to go away no matter how many times I re-check them, so I've given up trying.

Well I have done it. Over 600 hubs cleaned of the wounds inflicted by Editbot and the Bandaids posted all over my hubs to conceal the unfixed 'errors?@$5^'. No more bot robot symbols on my profile - Ahhh it is so nice.Membership is free and open. Join us in being Cleaned and Healed in the...

The Pinterest button in the share icons in the Hub sidebar has disappeared! How else am I meant to know how many thousand pins I have?

I read in today's blog about the Automated Grammar and Spelling Checker coming in September.I like the idea of correcting errors in comments. Many times I had to delete comments that were written with terrible misspellings and very bad grammar so as not to lose search engine ranking, But I'm...

Do symbols stay on your hubs after you make corrections? If a broken link symbol has appeared on one of your hubs & you have corrected it & it tells you it is no longer broken, will the symbol disappear from your hub or does it stay there?

The Pinterest Button has disappeared from by Hubs, even though I have opted to allow pinning.

Happy Thursday, everyone! In August we pre-announced a new tool that fixes common spelling and grammatical errors across the site. Today, Editbot, the first iteration of the tool, is live on a small percentage of Hubs and their comments. It will be gradually rolled out to all Hubs over the next...
