The Pinterest Button has disappeared from by Hubs, even though I have opted to allow pinning.

The pinterest button was still there when I looked at a Hub.  I suspect something is going wrong when the page tries to fetch the social buttons, but at this moment, I'm not sure what.

In an another unrelated issue Mark...

Over the last two days, when logging in.... I'm getting warnings of unencrypted script on the https://  sad

perhaps the 2 issues are related internally..

        Cheers for checking mate  smile

I think this is resolved.  If this still occurs for you after clearing your browser cache, please post example Hubs and we will look into it.

I can see the Pin It option on both your example hubs John, so it seems what we see varies person by person, or area by area, or something completely different!!!

my guess is that the switch in the profile is busted. I can get around it - just as other people pin me like crazy

Are you just missing the Pinterest or other social media buttons?

I just tested and it does take a bit of time to load, but I see the Pinterest, Facebook, and Twitter social media buttons on both of the example Hubs you provided.

If you clear your cache and upgrade to the newest version of Firefox, does the button show up?

          1. janderson99 profile image55
janderson99posted 11 years agoin reply to this

Nope - I have cleared the cache, I have the latest version of Firefox. No Pinterest button using, Mozilla, Chrome or Opera browsers on an XP machine. But weirdly when I use another computer Win 7 with IE8 it works. So beats me!

But Why, Tell me Why - should it work fine for 6 months and then suddenly two days ago stop working? Coincidences matter - it was just about this time that the other problem with profile switches started to happen  - the famous FLIP-FLOP on the switch to display 'idled' hubs or not. Seems likely the two are releated especially when other people report the pin button not displaying with the magnificent Windows 7 - next it will only work with Win8!!!

I once again went and checked your new, spotlight hub. All is there, including the pin button.

                  The good news...

It is you for some reason. Most visitors are seeing it and therefor have that option.

                  The bad news...

Based on yours and other's posts...

Some are not seeing it with various OS/browser combinations.

                  My perception...

I really don't know... Really seems like a cross-platform issue. Is it deliberate or fumbling? I don't know...

                  Priority...

My Pinterest traffic is negligible. So my pulse-rate has not quickened. Others may feel differently.

I just did some further testing in IE8/XP and all the social media buttons loaded for me.

Only ideas I have now are that it might be related to system resources (RAM, CPU, etc) and/or bandwidth.

Anyone have a new fast computer with a bunch of RAM and a fast connection via their ISP that are not seeing the buttons?

I just dropped by your referenced hub. The pin it button was there for me. Maybe the pin it button is the first to go when computer memory is running low? Or cache issues? Or browser/add-on issues?

        Or Windows-is-a-piece-of-crap issues? big_smile

    I do run XP
The most likely thing is the the "show Pin button" permission in my profile is busted.
I reported to HP but they said ditto - its my fault. as they had no problem.

    1. paradigmsearch profile image61
paradigmsearchposted 11 years agoin reply to this

      A long shot....

There was a problem with "yes" means "no" and "no"means "yes" in the profile editor as to another attribute. Try it with the "show pin button" setting. Like I said, a long shot, but with multiple posts saying both "see" and "not see", who knows?

I see only the two share buttons you do janderson. The rest are gone also and I haven't changed anything.  I use IE.  If it's not a system wide issue, then it must be something just with us.  What's the common thread?

  12. profile image0
    kelleywardposted 11 years ago

Mine is gone as well and I have it on in my settings. I use Mozilla. I'll try on Explorer to see if that is the problem.

You may have indeed found a glitch, i.e., pin it won't show here for anyone still using XP. If others will test with this differential in mind, and either confirm or refute, this adventure might actually be solved! smile
