Is anyone else having a massive adsense earnings boost?
I checked my earnings at about 6 and had very little, and yet now have much more in there. In Adsense this accounts for about half my clicks and about a third of my impressions of all time. Whats more, I am not showing anything up on Hubpages as of yet in terms of increased traffic views so it must be relatively recent. As such I was very suspicious about this, but on further inspection of Analytics it appears that the majority of this traffic is coming from Yahoo! with about one or two search terms.
This made me even more suspicious, but the geographic location of these views makes me less so, as they are distributed throughout the world and especially in the United States (and spread around the states as one would expect with lots of impressions from California and the north-east of the states).
Massive? Well, I guess it's all relative, but compared to my own personal bests... no. However, things do look like they are on a bit of an uptrend from last month.
yes I have noticed this, gone up over 300% over the last week. this may be the results of the google adsense promotions of late.
Your Iphone screen protector hub is on the first page of Google with your keywords. Congratulations
Jimmy told me that he's killin' it with AdSense this month, too...of course, he was drunk at the time, but still.
This is awesome news!
Thanks for that compliment. Something must have caused it as I know have over 7000 impressions for the day on Adsense, and previous to this my highest day was just over 200 impressions. Still the strange thing is it all appears to be organic traffic from Yahoo which is what I don't get. Still very confusing but I must get some sleep (although I may wake up and realise it is all a dream which wouldn't surprise considering there have been weird postings such as JimmytheJock being drunk and others doing a 100 hub challenge!).
Everything is very normal on my end. No huge earnings boost. But I'm glad things are going well for you!
BristolBoy, is it possible that you just weren't indexed yet? If the search engines are just now indexing you, you would notice an increase in organic traffic to your hubs.
Regardless, this is good news for you. You have some really great hubs and you write on some topics that have high earning potential. Good job!
Well it still appears to be going on so maybe it is down to being indexed or being located higher in the search engines but I still got a massive spike in traffic starting yesterday evening. In fact I got 20,000 page views on one hub, whereas in the previous 3 months I had only got 10,000 views across all of my hubs. Virtually all the increase in traffic has come from Yahoo and one search term which according to Adwords is only searched about 5000 times a month.
As this graph hopeully shows it truly has increased massiviely. Also despite the fact I have published two hubs realtively recently, it is an older hub which is experiencing the upswing. I reckon something must have been said on the radio or TV or internet to create this massive upswing. It is just a shame I wasn't on the front page of Google for this search term because then I could see if it was over all search engines or just Yahoo.
WOW! That's very cool!!! I would try searching the terms used in your high-traffic hub at google.com/trends. See if there is a spike on there, too. There has got to be.
Thanks for that. I forgot about Google trends. However when searching for my search terms they all gave the response:
"We do not have enough search volume to show graphs."
I was worried it could have been someone pressing backwards and forwards and clicking on my adverts, but there are an awful lot of associated search terms which have also brought traffic to my page, and the traffic is coming from throughout the US. I'm just very happy. I was bang on track to reach payout in the 10 months it takes many people, at this rate I will reach payout in well under 2 days, and from just one hub!
That is so awesome!
It must've been featured on a popular website or something. I had several hubs that were performing pretty well (not as well as yours lol) because I targeted them towards a few recent events. They paid handsomely at first and now barely pay. That being said, it must be pretty darn cool to have that happen so unexpectedly!
Stumbleupon is one of the websites where if your article is feature, traffic spikes occur.
Congrats on the spike, well deserved.
but to answer your previous question, I have had my best week, by far, on Google and it is spread over several hubs. More constant traffic from google and yahoo causes more traffic from clickers.
Don't be suspicious, be happy.
I am happy. It is just my inquisitive self which is wondering why I am getting such a massive spike supposedly from Yahoo. Still I am very happy with it.
I bet it was on Yahoo's front page under "top searches". In fact, I'm almost certain that has got to be it.
I had never realised there was that thing. Thanks for letting me know!
Wow, 20,000 views for one hub? That's fantastic! Which hub was it?
It is my hub on cheapest cities in the world. Have discovered why it is getting so many hits from Yahoo - the maain Yahoo page is displaying prominantly an article on the most expensive cities in America, with a link also displayed prominantly on the website to a search for the cheapest cities, of which my hub is the first result.
Thats great news im happy for you, wish to have the same luck someday i better hope this year lol... congrats man..
Thanks for that. I decided that I myself was very fortunate and ended up with considerable traffic going to my hub of the most expensive cities. Did you have an upswing to your hub on the obese countries in the world LondonGirl as I added it as a link?
How very kind of you! Thanks. Yes, there has been a bit of an upturn (not 20,000, sadly, but well done you on that!) But 160-odd views from hubpages in the last 24 hours.
Well I decided that it was worth spreading the good fortune that I was having around. I also added in a feed of the hottests hubs at one poiint but virtually as soon as that was done the spike seemed to stop. I also wasn't sure whether it was suitable to do that as it meant that there was more than one link to my most expensive cities in the world hub.
It appears that the traffic has died down completely now although I am still getting some residual from Twitter, emails, Facebook etc. i also hope that with all these links to my page being posted elsewhere it will help me appear higher in search engines for other terms as well.
I think there must be a good chance of it happening to someone else as long as they manage to get on the top page of Yahoo results. Hopefully it will do as other people deserve the good fortune which I have had.
Yes PageViews have increased by approximately 100/day starting in April of 2009 Maybe it has to do with a new google spiders algorithm
Bristol Boy, How fabulous for You!
This just goes to show all those Hubpages naysayers that Hubs really do place well in all kinds of search engines.
Hope the Pennies are dropping like crazy from Heaven for you!
Wow, awesome! Maybe one day my time will come. I have noticed a slow increase in search engine hits.
Fantastic spike - what was it in total, over how many days?
Hope you earned a few quid out of it as well.
Last Sunday my hubs racked up a total combined viewing of 10000 times. It had probably increased to around 10500-11000 by Friday evening. However, the combined total is now up to almost 50,000, with the majority of that coming in a period of less than 24 hours from Friday night to Saturday afternoon. Still ongoing, although a lot less than the start.
I hope you also witnessed a spike as I tried to share my good fortune with other hubbers. Apologies though if it wasn't as big as my spike!
That's amazing! What was your total hub views before that? The spike might well have been more than the total, I imagine.
Well-deserved, it's a great hub.
Yes total views of 10,500 - 11,000 before spike, total views of almost 50,000 now, and still in tail end of spike/getting some benefit.
Practically down to the levels it was before. Still thinking I am doing better, but maybe that is because my page was linked on several social networking sites etc, so that has probably increased my rankings in associated search terms.
Well this is what my stats look like:
As you can see, due to the size of the surge it is virtually impossible to see the amount of traffic before or after, even though the daily traffic is in the hundreds!
Yes that is impressive and shows the power of news.
I guess a hubber looking forward might look at that as a hint about what topics to choose to write about.
Some traders, which we are all in some sense of this for that, use the news as markers to enter and exit positions.
If a hubber wanted traffic he/she could simply write hubs about things that might make big news in the future.
I see the same spikes on my 2012 blogs albeit not of that magnitude.
Thanks for showing us that BristolBoy.
"Write the rumour....spike the news"
anonymous hubber
You are never goign to believe it - I appear to be experiencing the same thing again!
Yay!!!!! I am excited to hear that! Good for you!
Look at the front page of yahoo!
So exciting, congrats!
Just looked and it appears that the front page of Yahoo contains an article on the world's most expensive cities. I am getting lots of hits from Yahoo! to my cheapest cities hub so people must be seeing that and clicking. Unfortunately the recommended Yahoo! search is on something like the world's most expensive houses, if it was the cheapest cities like last time I would really be counting myself lucky!
I bet the Most Expensive Cities article is prompting people to think "hmmm...wonder what the cheapest cities are?" and then they take the initiative to do their own search that query. Either way, very cool.
Yes it is very cool. Not going to be anything like the 40,000 I got in a day last time though, but still I can't complain about extra traffic. Hopefully people will click on the links and so they will go to other similar pages and more hubbers will get some benefit.
I had just the opposite problem - $60 suddenly left my AdSense account and has never returned. I'm also missing 2 weeks worth of reports. It skips from June 17th to July 4th, nothing in between.
See if the info posted by UninvitedWriter on this thread helps. I hope so! http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/16072
Thanks, GG. I tried the advanced reporting, it didn't help, it just stops dead at June 17th. The AdSense help forum is full of people with missing funds, I don't know what's going on.
That is very weird and must be so frustrating. Guessing you have tried contacting Google?
You're not kidding, BB! No, I did not try to contact the AdSense people, I went to their help forum. That's how I discovered that there's a plague of missing funds. Somehow, it doesn't seem legal or right that they can do this. I'm really hoping that it's a glitch that they'll be able to fix.
I agree it doesn't seem right at all. Although at least if Google know about it they may do something - I remember seeing previously that someone sued them for such a small amount and won, so maybe that will factor into their decision making process!
I too had $130 vanish from my account, I checked the Adsense forums also and noticed many people complaining of the same thing, but Google being Google didn't even bother to respond to the hundreds of reports about it. The random amounts that were vanishing led me to believe that perhaps it was a percentage of peoples balances, but I'm not sure, anyways I'm sure that turned out to be a nice little top-up for Google in these hard times.
I've kissed goodbye to it now.
It's almost frightening to think that Google has free reign to do anything at all they please.
I noticed that they are doing site updates, so I'm hoping against hope that it will all be remedied. A pipe dream perhaps, but I hold out a sliver of hope, all the same.
Bristol Boy this is so exciting! You seem to be in a news loop of some sort. I hope it adds to lots of $$$$ for you.
Thanks. Unfortunately the traffic isn't as high as last time and the ecpm is one of the lowest values I have across all my hubs. Still I can hope that something changes!
I don't think it's just you or your niche today. My adsense has been dreadful since 10 pm last night. All I can hope is that visitors have decided to buy from Amazon or Ebay.
I know this is an old topic but I'm experiencing the same thing.
In 3 days I've had at least 100,000 visits mostly to the same hub. I don't want to say how much I've earned because I'm not going to get excited about it until I actually see the money in my bank account. I have gotten at least 5 times the visits and clicks that I got for the entire month of November.
It's my hub on cartoon characters of the 50s and 60s. Most of the traffic is coming from Google. There is a big push on Facebook this weekend to make your profile a cartoon character from your childhood so I am thinking that is why the hub has been getting so much traffic from Google. My hub is number one on Google in its category. See my traffic spike below:
That was on Googel trends the other other day, It will probably be short lived, but you might get a permenant boost, enjoy it and monetize it!
I saw you mentioned this on FB UW and I think it is great! Party whilst the fun is alive and well done!
UW I think you deserve you're own topic on this! It's so much fun to celebrate successes, and wish people well.
Wish I was getting a spike, I've been battling hard and long for the past 2 weeks to try and regain my rank 2 on Google page one for a particular hub. I am at present on rank 4 because two websites related to the topic have just been indexed by Google, however they don't have the same keywords as me so I really wish they would just drop out of my way.
I've been backlinking like crazy and should have well over 1000 backlinks to my hub by next week.
The only backlinking I did on this hub was Twitter, Facebook and listing it on a website of Top Ten lists by request of the owner.
Lucky you does it have lots of competition?

Twice this week, I checked AdSense, and saw some nice earnings in the 30 to 50 cents range, due to ad clicks (I assume). Both times, these earnings disappeared when I checked back again a few hours later. I understand that earnings are not final until final, but the most recent case was...

When I first started with adsense a few years ago I would refresh the dam page every 5 minutes to still see the same zero. Then when I started earning a little bit I would refresh every 2 minutes. Trust me it was hell. Now I check on the 15th and the first. Like tommorow will be checking...

Is it site wide? I have been making adsense money in the range of 13-16 $ a day for more than 100 days. Now it has decreased to below 10$ per day. I track my referral traffic as well as my own traffic. Is something wrong? I still get the same amount of traffic. Paul, Jason, Maddie, anyone? What I...

Okay, last month - from ALLLLmy blogs, all my everything - I earned a pathetic $1.82 in AdSense revenue. Total. (Don't spend it all in one place, right?)In April, I began Hubbing. This month so far, 17 days in, with my small pack of 12 Hubs (most created this week), I've already made $9.26.Now...

Okay, today I have noticed drastic decrease in page impressions and record low earnings in my adsense account. I had not thought before today that google algorithm change will have such a effect on our traffic and earnings. Today, I find myself what I was three years back. Only a few cents per...

When I want to increase my Adsense on hubs that are not making much I open up a browser tab with in my list of hubs and open up my Adsense account in another browser tab. This will work right now if you have already been tracking your hubs using url channels in Adsense, if you aren't already do so,...
