Roma, due a week ago, had a gorgeous, leggy foal this morning. The baby is already standing, suckling well, and the vet reckons is in great health. Olivia acted as midwife (!) and mother and baby both seem very happy (-:

The mother's called Roma, the foal is Rosa.
According to Olivia (my sister, Roma's her horse) foals aren't born grey, and Rosa's likely to grow up looking more like her Mum than she does now.

kindest regards to 'Aunty Londongirl'
Awww, what a handsome pair!
Congratulations to the mare and your sister!
Roma did more work, but Olivia had been sleeping in the box next door in the stables for 10 days, waiting for labour to begin, and is quite glad to be back in her own bed, I think!
well done to all three for their big efforts - foal looks gorgeous...cheers
Is she a Percheron? I miss those days of sleeping in the barn on foal watch, and seeing the foal struggle to stand, then cheering when it finds breakfast!
Nothing lese like it.

That little screenshot was 3 years in the making - but 3 years and 129 hubs and I finally hit that milestone I would like to thank Pinterest and other social media - because if I'd have waited to get this kind of traffic from only Google it would have been another 3 years probably - ha!
