I've been on hubpages for one week and have made a whopping 20 cents on adsense. Is that typical?

I've been working hard on my Hubs and bookmarking and backlinking. Is there anything more I should be doing?

I've been on Ad Sense through Hub Pages and haven't made one cent. If you made 20, congrats.

I'd say it probably is typical.  What you need to do is look at where you made your 20 cents, what keywords people used to find you.  I have been here nearly three months and still trying to find out what works.

There's a lot of competition for search terms out there - why would people choose to visit you rather than someone else?

The shame is that you might write great stuff and people never get to see it.

Sorry - thinking aloud - it's hard work.  At least you made a good start, just keep on going.

Good job! From what I see, people that just start don't make much. I have a 0$CPC, LOL, I am sure you are doing a good job.

You're doing well.  Keep it up and you will be doing even better soon enough.

Research has shown it takes an average of 3 years to be successful on the internet.

Just keep writing more hubs the way you have.

Doing well ! I have hardly earned anything here after months, I earn every week from kooday a new search engine, at least $40 a week profit share + make money when my words sell.
I get more viewers to my hubs from there as well ! Have a hub about it !
    Its fun !

Hubs don't even really become favourable to search engines until they are six months old; so none of your hubs are close to their prime yet.  Keep working hard, this is no get money quick thing here; but it is something that will make you money in time if you continue to work at it

Also, I wonder if you're promoting your hubs anywhere?  Putting them on Digg.com is the first place that I put anything of mine.  Google finds links submitted to digg every hour; reddit is a good place to submit links, but it's a brutal crowd there, IMO.  Facebook and joining facebook groups can work really well too.

But twenty cents is probably all that I'd made at that time too.

Also, I have to tell you that (not having seen your profile yet) that writing about products is what makes people the most money here, and if you really want to do article marketing for money, then you should concentrate on the products that you know and love, and write about those things.

I mostly DO NOT write about products, but I'm learning to enjoy doing some of that too.

No, it's not typical to make any money your first week, and probably not your first month.  Great job... keep up the good work.  Read a few hubs on "how much I made on HubPages" to see what to expect as far as future income.  Hubs usually have to "age" before you start seeing any income from them.

Congrats!  Don't focus on the money. Just love what you do here first, and the money will just come smile

I've been here for over a year and have not made anything.

Perhaps it's time to register my adsense info.

very typical in the beginning stages ! however, write quality hubs and use the power of social media to get some word out. i found virtusa.co.za which is a south african social community where users can share and discover not only the latest news, but just about anything on the web. this is also one of the very few (if not only) such sites offering a revenue share program where users get 80% of revenue by submitting their own quality links to news, articles, stories, and such. give them a try : http://www.virtusa.co.za
