         There is a difference between giving up on a person and giving up on love entirely. Would I be hurt? Of course. But I wouldn't swear off another chance at love and happiness.

   Just keep loving them anyway, it will scare the hell out of 'em. Don't give up forgiveness is the fragrance that the flower sheds on the heal that has crushed it. Love is only 'round the corner of your heart's desire.

      Dang your livin' hide, ralwus. I LOVE that saying so very much I despise it. Because it hurts.
      Still trying to get over a love myself.
      
      But, I digress.
      
      Ralwus is right. Never give up on love. When you need to move on, you thank the person for all the good they brought to your life, and let go and keep your heart open to love. And whether you think they will or not, they usually do show up again for some reason. It's never the same, but if you keep your heart open, it's fine and good. Further more, if you're open and not bitter, it's just amazing at who will show up in your life. I've lived this over and over.

   It's not the size of the dog in the fight...it's the size of the fight in the dog. So either fight for them or leave via court and take them  to the cleaners.

   I had becaues I had been hurt but then love had a funny way of finding me again and now I am happily married.

      had a same experience - except the marriage part...
      
      mace, I wasn't in a 5 year relationship where I was cheated on - it was a three year relationship where I was engages and then cheated on - yeah it hurt... yeah I stepped back and gave up... but is wasn't permanent(no matter how much I swore it would be) and now I am in an amazing relationship and am grateful I got hurt in the first place because it would never had let me to my current relationship.

         Yep a question I am asked a lot too. Congrats on the 7 1/2 years together. My husband and I just celebrated our 2 year Sept. 22. and total time together 5 years. of course we dated on and off during HS. he was my first boyfriend back in HS
