I think many folks might plan their summer vacation more according to routine than genuine consideration . . . many 'go to the shore' every year because, well because they go to the shore every year - that's what they do. When you read most hubs, you are spending time reading that hub - when you read one of Kimberly's hubs, you are spending time with Kimberly . . . and when you know Kimberly you want to spend time with Kimberly, you in fact, kind of want her all to yourself. Kimberly, through flickering lights on a screen mind you, is one of those rare people without pretense, straightforward, honest, and real. I would estimate that probably half of my hubs here on HubPages I would never have published if not for Kimberly's encouragement and genuine interest. I always thank you Kimberly - and I offer this hub (among many) to evidence her gift ~

menash ~ the idea here (in this forum) is to promote someone else's hub, then the next visitor will come along and share a hub of yours . . . so, I'll catch-up and recommend a hub of CyberShelley's, so she's not overlooked ~

I often pull something from the refrigerator or simply run water at the sink and pause in a moment of thanks . . . my disposition is one that keeps me nearly always in a place of historic perspective, I see politics, culture, religion, etc, today as where we are now in the historic sweep of things, and it often amazes me that I have a device that keeps my food fresh and cold and that I can turn a knob and get cold and even hot (!) running water right in my house! It simply wasn't that long ago that people did not live like this.

    So CyberShelley's hub titled . . .

"AUTOMATION - How it's Changed Everyday Life"

. . . quickly caught my eye. And in her article, her reference to ATMs stood-out to me . . . that (using ATM cards) seems to me to have so quickly become a 'normal' part of our lives that I wonder how often we might pause and remember that it wasn't at all very long ago that if you didn't have the cash in your pocket you had to wait, you had to come back, etc. Now, we don't even have to consider where we're going and what we might do, we can pay for whatever, wherever, whenever with this one, simple little card - I think it's a dramatic change in our everyday lives that we might not think about too often.
