Finally got Bill home from the hospital. They took his gallbladder out and found ulcers in his stomach, which he is now being treated for. We were both laughing because we never thought we'd be GLAD to find out he had ulcers, but compared to the other choices that was great news. He'll be home for a couple of weeks recuperating from the surgery and the other problems.
The day I brought him home I started feeling sick and by Tuesday morning I had a rip snorting case of Swine flu. It's not the Plague, but don't let anyone tell you it's no big deal either. He refused to shoot me so I am still here and my fever just broke today.
God, that was a lot of drama for one month.
I hope that's the end of it. Thanks for all the good wishes.
Well...I'm glad he's home from the hospital and you know what it was. Sorry you got swine flu. It seems that everyone I know who went to a doctor or a hospital came home with swine flu.
It's great news that you got Bill home and they were able to find out it's ulcers. On the whole scheme of things, yup that's not so bad.
Sorry to hear that you got swine flu, but glad that you're over it. From what I hear it's not pleasant.
Ah-choo!!! Uh oh.
Yes! While I was at the hospital sitting with him I saw people with Swine flu everywhere. The reason I knew they had Swine flu is there were signs all over that if you had Swine flu you had to wear a surgical mask, and it seemed like every third person had a surgical mask and looked miserable. I thought then, oh crap, I bet I get this damned bug now.
He got a vaccine today since he's kind of high risk now with his other problems. Lots of schools are closed here. It's kind of sweeping through Michigan just this week.
It sounds like Michigan got it bad. I guess I won't be visiting Michigan any time soon!
Thanks guys.
Actually Michigan was one of the last states to get hit. Three days of it and my fever finally broke this afternoon. I'm wiped, but I do feel like the worst is over.
Glad you ar recovering (We wish the same for Michigan-- but that may take longer.) I'm sure you have lots of stories just busting from your formerly fevered brain.
Best wishes for both of you.
My thoughts are with you. Continue to rest and drink lots of fluids Glad you are feeling better
Get better soon. And glad those were just ulcers. Concentration camps are worse.
Glad Bill's home and you got it figured out. Hate to hear you ended up with the swine flu! I hope you get much better real soon!
That's tough Pam. Hope you and you're partner will get well soon.
Glad to hear Bill's home. Look after yourself getting over the 'flu, though, it can make you feel low for weeks.
Hi Pam,
sorry to hear about your swine flu, but glad that Bill is on the mend. Take care of yourself, and get better soon.
Glad to hear that you are both OK. I was getting worried when you didn't update how he was doing. Take care after the swine flu here, Bill had it and he started feeling better and ended up sicker than sick after seemingly recovering. Get better soon.
Wow. What voodoo doll was stashed in your purse, girl?!
Just glad that you are all pulling through it. So sorry that it all happened.
We're getting escalating cases here in the west, too. No schools closing, but lots of sports activities cancelled. It seems that if you can avoid schools and medical facilities, your chances are reduced of getting this crap. But I think that's only up until about noon tomorrow, the way it appears.
Just glad the fever broke and that you guys appear to be on the mend.
Pam, glad to hear you're both on the mend. We are starting to have cases of the swine flue here too in south west Ontario.
kindest regards Zsuzsy

This will probably be the most important message I've ever posted here in the forums. This message is not meant to create panic but to let you know about the urgency of the situation. You have a very small window of opportunity to prepare for the coming swine flu pandemic. Today the World Health...

I spent the day in Indiana taking my 23-year-old son to the doctor. He's been deathly ill for two weeks and has taken a turn for the worse over the last couple days. He has no health insurance, so I went so he could get treated. (I paid.)The doctor said he probably had flu the first week, possibly...

Goldacre's a great writer, on science and maths and stats. Here he writes about poor perception of risk many are showing:""Yeah, but you know, it could be like Sars and bird flu, they didn't materialise, they were hype." Simon Jenkins suggested the same thing. It's not true, I said....

Here's my dilemma. My son's school is offering the swine flu vaccine in mist form for free. I have to sign a permission form before they will give it to him and I'm iffy on whether or not to let him have it. He's 5, by the way. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks ahead of time.
