Anyone ever notice if they get more traffic with a summary or more traffic without a summary?
Have you ever taken the time to compare and try to evaluate if a summary by the system generates more traffic or one that you write your own generates more traffic?
I haven't actually done any comparisons, but I think about what articles I would click on when I'm searching. If they don't have a summary of what they are on 9/10 it's a spam article or a link to other links. It seems that those that actually have a summary are actually articles, not just a bunch of links to other links. At least in my experience when I'm searching.
I have not done a comparison, but believe a summary is critical. It helps with your search rankings, as well as being a better way to showcase your article in the first sentence or two under the search result. I would take the time to complete a summary of each hub.
When I first started publishing hubs on Hubpages, I didn't see the necessity of using the summary feature. Then I read a post by someone who said that it had increased her views tremendously. So I tried it and I have to say. it works. I can't explain why but it just does, so now everything new I publish has a short summary.
I have not compared but I know the more you write about your article, will mean more traffic. Summary triggers more finds on searches. It's a numbers game. The more you put out, the more you receive. Well, in writing articles, I mean. lol
You should get more traffic with a summary, because in some search engine results, the summary is what is displayed, and if it isn't there, some people may not click the link. It's a good idea to write an enticing summary to get people to click.
I've never really made a comparison between having a summary, and not having one. However thanks to your question, I'm now going to definitely look into the matter.
I didn't use a summary for a long time. When I did, I suddenly got much more traffic and the traffic has continued.
