How are you adjusting to your new hubberscore?

New HP algorithms for hubberscore (profile score) rolled out today reflecting the quality of your work. Traffic and participation in the community (forums, Q&A, comments) are no longer factored into the criteria. Did yours go up, down, or stay the same?

Not sure yet Janis. But part of me believes it'll all work out; that all of these changes are good for character building and keeps us from getting too comfortable in our craft of writing.

Mine went down two points.  Some people don't use social media (or want to).  Pity to penalize them for not wanting to put there work there.  I use twitter but would never use Facebook to spam my friends.

Mine only went down a few points.  Not sure how I feel about it yet.  To me the scores are a constant sense of contention among hubbers.  People here are already up in arms over so many things - and so they choose now to whack a lot of people with 10 and 15 point drops.  That will help *eyeroll*

I really wish they would make these scores more useful by being a bit more straightforward about exactly what it is they want.  I have a high score - before and still, but I don't know exactly "why".  That kind of bugs me.  I've been as high as 100 before and I hadn't touched a thing; such a strange system and I don't respond well to the "not knowing" aspect of this scoring.

I know, I could never figure it out either, ChristinS, but I think I have a better understanding of patterns I see that change mine. I just try to work with it and not take it as seriously as I used to, but it's hard.

Mine went down ten points, i must brush up my hubs since participation isn't the point

Yes, peachy. After a while, we won't be hanging out in Q&A like we used to. We'll be too busy working on hubs. Thanks for answering.

It goes up and down, I bounce with it. If it goes down I keep an eye out for errors and try to do better.

Just another thing that we have to try to guess - LOL
The more that I try to follow what is written in the guidelines, the worse it gets  smile

Things do seem to change a lot around here, Diana, more frequently. Thank you for answering.

Mine went down 1 point, I think. But it always hovers at 93 or 94 anyway.
As far as Hubpages guidelines go--I find them helpful. Remember, the internet and it's content is always moving forward. So, if you're going to be a writer, you have to follow the guidelines wherever you write--and the guidelines everywhere keep changing.
Remember, you're writing for an audience with changing expectations. And now Meerket is in the mix broadcasting live audio-visual feed from Apple phones. So even politicians have to keep up.

Mine stayed the same.  A few months ago I was at 99-100 consistently but haven't been able to participate in the community as much so it went down.  I think I like the idea of the score being based on the quality of my work instead of the lack of time I have available to participate.

That is a plus, ThelmsC. But there are so many mixed feelings about this hubberscore change, depending on how each hubber is affected. Mine dropped a few points, I hope it stays where it is now.

Jan, mine went down from 96 to 89. things around here are changing too fast to keep up with. Until about three months ago my Hubber score had been always between 87 and 89, but suddenly went up to 96, 97 and had stayed there since...until last night. I guess I'll just have to concentrate on keeping it above 85.. Not a lot of elbow room though.

My hubber score went down about 10 points, and about 15 of my hubs were not featured anymore, although they had been since that began to be a part of HP. The sad part is that I feel the ones not featured any longer are some of my best writing. I wrote them when I had been writing here for about 6 months, was feeling more confident, and had a good sized audience. I never got a lot of comments, since many of my hubs are tutorial in nature. People seem to take them for what they are, and visit my personal blog for further info.

I made changes, but I tend to write long hubs, and usually only add one Amazon capsule. My niche doesn't lend itself to products much, except for books, which cost little and I never even made an Amazon payout. I was told my hubs were "spammy", and that hurt a bit.

I thought the admin was supposed to be negotiating a better Amazon rate for us, but HP seems to be in the doghouse with everyone. As for me, I don't write much here anymore. But it's the only game in town, and I like the people. I am sick of changing the same hubs though. It appears others have had the same issues this week as I have had. I hope you fared well, I often see you on the forums and you seem very nice and write well.

So sorry to hear this recent change has hit you so hard, Jean. Yes, several hubbers are feeling down. Mine went down a few but I'm afraid to jinx it. I've been tweaking my hubs and seeing good results. Thanks for answering.
