    @dave

    what makes you say that?  is the topic too personal or controversial or something?  Im sure itll do fine once you have it published.  besides, you can't hit a homerun without swinging the bat, as one person once told me.

    @mega

    lol.  i guess that's why we elected you leader of this hub tribe, huh?

    @hmrjmr1

    nah, im fine man.  no worries.  just been busy lately these past couple of days.  thanks for the concern though.

    Steve, Nothing like that at all.  Just my fear of failure.  I don't want to be stuck in my present job for all eternity.  I want to succeed and I want to make sure that all my ducks are in a row before I take the plunge.

      oh i see.  i know what you mean.  to be  honest, i don't like my job either, so i know how you feel.  however, nobody can tell you when your ready, except for yourself.  all i can tell you is that the future isn't written for any of us, so all we can do is the best we can.  i don't know if that helps or not, but i hope it does.

        Why thank you! I'm actually feeling pretty well! So many hubbers have been so supportive, it's made me feel a lot better. Things have been peaceful at home for a few days, so I've been able to relax. I've actually got steady freelancing work set up for the month...and classes start up again on Monday (I'm a bookworm, so that's a fun thing for me). Yay!

        I got to write more hubs, and to answer all my kind comments as well. I feel happy!

                TheGlassSpiderposted 15 years agoin reply to this

                Oh goodness...Lots of things, you sure you wanna hear em all? Rough life...good counselor...wanna help people. Pretty typical, probably. I like it though--I would like to further integrated counseling theory and find something that works for people.

                1. profile image0
                  Stevennix2001posted 15 years agoin reply to this

                  well of course i don't mind hearing all of them.  i wouldn't have asked if i didn't.  lol. that sounds fairly interesting though.  what's your counseling theory though?

                  1. TheGlassSpider profile image68
                    TheGlassSpiderposted 15 years agoin reply to this

                    Oh that's a big question.

                    I'm interested in family therapy; so I'm interested in Family Systems Theory (particularly Virginia Satir's work); that theory is rooted in psychoanalysis in that the families of origin impact a present family(I prefer Jung's more spiritual psychoanalysis to Freud's deterministic version). Existential theory and Person-Centered therapy are also very important to me (but that's almost redundant, since I like Satir).

                    However, Cognitive Behavioral Theory has its place as well; especially for the quick reduction of symptoms--people's CN systems *can* be manipulated in helpful ways that can open the way to more in-depth and lasting therapeutic effects.

                    The point of integrated theory is to find what's consistent across theories and put it to work for the client. The type of therapy used in counseling is also usually tailored to the client's presenting issues, goals, personality, and learning style.

                    *whew* smile

        I have the 2009 Writer's Market for Short Stories and Novels.  That one provided a free one year membership to their website where you can get contact information on Literary Agents.  Failing that I am going to head to Borders and look at the Literary Agent books.

          yea that is the one I have but it's for 2010 and it has literary agents in it that I need to write in another notebook so then I don't have to keep looking through the book for the ones I had maked with the yellow highlighter as possibilities. big_smile

      Yep.  I am probably going to have to go that route when I get home.  Out of the 30 or so that I contacted by email I have 5 maybes.  So I have sent them the as yet unedited book.  I just hope that something comes from it.  I don't look forward to stuffing ALL those envelopes.

        if you do have to do it the old fashion way here is a good tip. use a sponge and a plate of water when sealing the envelopes...protects your tongue big_smile and hey they want the BIG envelopes so it won't be TOO bad right? lol

    I'm still considering what I think motivates people to change. I'm certain that a safe environment must be a part of it. And what they call "unconditional positive regard"...But I think discomfort must also be a part of it.

    I am looking forward to my practical experience (coming soon), where I hope to learn to manage the delicate balance between the two in action with clients.

    It makes me nervous to think about it...haha! But excited too.
