For people to change, it requires a catalyst.  Take me for example.  I have always wanted to be a writer.  I took all sorts of English classes in High School and Creative Writing courses were my electives in college.  I got discouraged and lost my way a bit.  On my 30th birthday I was sitting out here on this same boat and decided to do something about it.  I started writing again.  Then I found this site completely by accident and started posting some of my writings.

CW inspired my fiction writing craze and I signed up for Nanowrimo, and while I didn't win I kept at it and finished a book.  Now I am writing my second book and I don't want to write anything but fiction.

Change is about catalysts and that is just my opinion.

I did? How did I inspire it? just by telling you need to write or else? lol I am glad that I have helped you in your writing dave. I am always ready to help my fellow writers, especially if they need pushing.

Yes.  I would fall behind and then I would see your word count and work that much harder.

      I think that's awesome!

What would you say was the catalyst exactly? You mentioned your 30th birthday--were you feeling the pressure of passing time?
Or do you mean that CW's encouragement was a catalyst? Perhaps both things were catalysts at different points in your process of change?

The major catalyst was my 30th birthday.  The secondary was CW telling me to write or else....

Well I am probably halfway done with Hunger, and it is going very well.  I had to take a break to let the keyboard cool off.  I put in 2-3 thousand words earlier tonight.  I finally discovered what people mean when they say that the characters come to life and tell them what they are doing.

    1. profile image0
Crazdwriterposted 15 years agoin reply to this

*gasp* poor keyboard. Jeez dave how could you be so cruel lol just kidding. Good for you! and yea if you start hearing voices in your head don't panic...it is your characters. Mine talk to me all the time, especially in my dreams big_smile

      1. dave272727 profile image60
dave272727posted 15 years agoin reply to this

Well, not so much when I am dreaming.  More like when I sit down in front of the keyboard I reread what I wrote the day before and get back into the mindset.  Then they ALL start talking at once.  I have to pick them out of the crowd individually and write down what they have to say.  It's like the new girl in Part 3, she is MEAN!!!  I don't like her AT ALL!

        1. profile image0
Crazdwriterposted 15 years agoin reply to this

OOOO You have a mean girl huh? I hate those ones too. i have one in this story but in the end she becomes nice because of everything that happens...

Oh I HATE when they talk all at once too. It's like SHHHHHH!!! people think I am crazy because sometimes I have this look on my face then I actually do cathc myself sometimes saying shush when I'm in the store and they come at me at once. Yea they talk to me all the time now sad

It is all about who and what and how you are.  And from what I can tell, you seem like a stand up guy.  Honest and all that jazz.  Don't be embarrassed about a job.  If it keeps your lights on, then you are doing ok.

Bye tribe. I would have loved to stay around, and this is not reflection on hubpages, but some members just choose to be hostile making this place not worth being here. I like and thrive off of positivity. Of course, there are a group of positive people who have joined making it worthwhile, but there's too much ruthlessness on the behalf of certain members. You know who I'm talking about. Yeah, I wish I could have shared by hub on a serious natural disaster potentially facing California, but I'm not going to now. This place is no fun, someone here will do anything...ruin a person's reputation just for the heck of it or to garner sympathizers from members so they can become potential fans or just pure jealousy. One rotten apple sometimes does ruin the whole bunch. It would have been fun. Ciao.

I certainly hope that if someone has been bothering you personally you have reported them so that they won't be around anymore to bother anybody else!  You don't have to take that stuff - whatever it is - that is making you want to abandon all the rest of us positive happy folks!  I hope nobody in the tribe has done anything to hurt or bother you - I would personally kick their b u t t!  stick around and sort it out, please!  It can be a fun place!  hope you don't go . . .

Give us more information.  This is the first time I seen you post to the tribe.  Is it someone in a forum or hub that's bothering you?
