going pretty good. you missed an all out war with the swamp warriors led by mega to fight against them..
WOW!! I didn't think we were a war like tribe. Maybe we should have invited them over for food and booze.
we did, which was a good thing because denno was going throw his flammable feeces on them. not a pretty sight.
good. I hope no one was injured and there were no prisoners of war taken.
nope, but sadly, i ended up having to set up a date between mega and the incredible hulk, as that was the only thing that would make him help us. well that and cookies too.
Cookies can solve the world's problems. Especially Chocolate chip ones.
I am convinced cookies are the only reason we got out of this situation alive! And we had cookies and Coronas, and canned cheese and spam for our celebration feast! An international first! However, since we didn't really fight really, I don't trust those slimey sloth like zombie swamp monsters and they may be back when the moon comes up - Hope you'll get yourself some armour, just in case there is another threat! (plus, it was kinda fun!) it kinda turned into a sorta short funny story!
I'm only here for a minute posting in to check up and make sure there are still cookies for the stragglers! be back after dinner I hope!
Oh...it's nuclear here. Lots of arguing going on. I wish I was anyplace else.
Sorry guys, got caught up in work. Hiya Spider!! Mega, I will get some new cookies and set up some traps for the zombies.
Well, other than being exceptionally angry. I am okay. Basically it's me and my roommate vs. his Dad...about the Dad's disabled brother whom we (roommate and I) take care of.
Our disabled gentleman (he's completely wheel-chair bound) urinated on the floor on purpose this evening, and I told him that if I caught him doing it again again there would be consequences (i.e., he would be grounded to his room for a day)...and the Dad is going ape shit...But neither of us knows what to do--and we certainly don't want to send him to any of the nursing homes around here, because they are terribly sub-par.
The Dad totally doesn't help us at all with this situation, but anytime anything happens, the Dad wants to be all up in the situation second-guessing us all the time (meanwhile, I have over ten years of experience doing exactly this stuff), and I'm getting pretty tired of being disrespected.
wow, im terribly sorry to hear that. have you and your room mate tried talking to his dad about this? if not, i think you definitely should as it sounds like he'll never respect you unless you stand up to him. however, if you have, and it didn't work, then I don't know what else to tell you. however, im terribly sorry to hear about what you and your room mate are going through.
Thank you, I appreciate you asking It's become pretty clear to us that he doesn't have any respect whatsover for us. All this arguing *is* standing up to him, and it's long overdue. We've tried talking to him, and now it's come to being angry, because I'm tired of having my boundaries stomped.
I think we'll get it worked out...eventually.
your welcome. well i hope everything works out for you. i don't see why his dad should have a problem with it. is he helping you two at all in taking care of your room mate's uncle? either financially or whatever? if not, then I don't think he has any right to judge as I would just tell him that.
To be honest Spider, if he didn't pee in a common area, let it stay there until the dad cleans it up. Or if he peed in his room, let him live with the smell. That would teach him not to do it again.
Awww...Thanks Dave. It's just a tough situation all around. We do what we can, and this too shall pass.
I am learning to be more assertive, and that's throwing our system out of whack as well. But it's necessary.
@Steven...The Dad contributes to the overall house in the way of paying some bills and getting groceries. But all of the rest of us contribute pretty much equally in that fashion. The Dad is not contributing the care of the Uncle (i.e., lifting him in and out of bed, making 3 meals a day, bathing him, shaving him...he's quite physically dependent). So, you're right--if he's not going to contribute to the physical work, he has no say in the rules and boundaries for care--that's exactly what all this is about.
Things are calming down now, and we're talking about other things. I've sort of separated from the herd, so to speak...hence my presence here
Enough of that mess!
How are you? How is everyone else??
im doing pretty good thanks. just working on some hubs while seeing whats going on in forums. im sorry to hear about what happened earlier though. hope it works out for you and your room mate.
Thanks...We're tough! Or at least I am I've been dealing with ornery seniors for a LOOOONG time...I just needed to get back into the groove.
I am doing great.
To quote one of my favorite movies...
"Wyatt, I am rolling"
Oh man...that wouldn't happen to be Tombstone would it?
That is an *awesome* movie. The best portrayal of Doc Holliday in my opinion. Of course, I'm biased about Val Kilmer.
really? i take it val kilmer is your favorite actor, huh?
I wouldn't say my favorite...That's a toughie: Jack Nicholson and Anthony Hopkins are on that list...but Val is both a good actor and very easy on the eyes.
lol. thats cool. i like jack nicholson too. i especially loved his film, "one flew over the cuckoo's nest"
I watched that one quite recently as a matter of fact. That one always upsets me.
I also love him as The Joker. And in As Good As It Gets....and The Bucket List...(that reminds me that Morgan Freeman is also quite awesome)...and anything else I've ever seen him in.
why does "one flew over the cuckoo's nest upset you?"
yeah, i loved nicholson in those other films too. although i will say that heath ledger played the better joker though, but nicholson was still pretty good.
my favorite actors are will smith, tom hanks, jim carrey, edward norton, johnny depp, christian bale, toby maguire, and brad pitt for me.
I've been living under a rock; I have yet to see Ledger's Joker...I am skeptical, but I will take your word for it. There are so many good actors...I can't believe I didn't even think about the ones on your list. Especially Will Smith and Tom Hanks...jeez.
Why did One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest upset me? Oh jeez, well...it's a reflection of reality for one, and I just always want McMurphy to kill Nurse Ratched. She's so evil (especially if you've read the book as well), and it's so sad at the end. I know, I know, Chief escapes, but jeez.
I have to agree with you Spider, it is the best portrayal of Doc Holliday. Val Kilmer is a very good actor. There is so many great things about that movie. As far as my favorite actor I would have to make a list. I have several. Sam Elliot, Thomas Haden Church, Nicolas Cage, Orlando Bloom, Val Kilmer, Johnny Depp, and the list goes on. These actors make a character come to life. There are so many actors that make a character seem wooden and not real. I hope that makes sense....
That absolutely makes sense, and I would have to agree on your actors. (Except I don't think I know Sam Elliot or Church, at least by name). I'd also add Gary Sinise to that list personally...we need to think of some ladies...Kathy Bates comes to mind, Glenn Close, oooh! Sigorney Weaver--I like her a lot, too.
Elliot plays the old guy in Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze. Thomas Hayden Church was on Wings the sitcom.
Sam Elliot was in Tombstone, Road House, he did the voice over for the "Beef it's what for dinner" ad campaign. He has been in a slew of movies.
Thomas Haden Church was Lowell on Wings, Ned on Ned and Stacey (which was Debra Messing's first sitcom) Spiderman 3, Open Range, and a few others.
YW. Didn't just mean to jump in the middle like that. Hope you all are having a pleasant evening. I disagree though on the Joker thing. I think Nicholson was my fav and I absolutely love him in the Witches of Eastwick.
Hey, fire at will...we're all open here
I'm hearing you on Nicholson's Joker...like I told Steve....I'm skeptical. LOL. Of course, I *love* the original Batman movie, period. I think it's my favorite.
oh im sorry, i can be a bit of a nerd when it comes to movies as you can tell. i hope that doesn't bother you. anyway, i just thought ledger's joker was better because of the way he was portrayed in the dark knight as not really a human being per say, but more of a satanic figure so to speak. sure, in the film, he could've killed a lot of people himself like nicholson did with a electric hand buzzer or poisonous gas. however, he'd rather tempt others to do it for him. which makes his version that much more frightening as he's more of a monster if anything.
Why on earth would it bother me that you're a movie nerd? I *love* movies, I just wish I could get out to see more of them. I need to take the time to watch more movies.
I'll have to check out The Dark Knight; I've heard Ledger is very intense.
idk, sorry, i guess i worry too much over stuff. lol. anyway, if you do see it, you'll have to tell me what you think of it as im kind of curious to see what you'd think of the joker in that movie as well as harvey dent.
I will. I've got it in my Netflix cue, but I somehow managed to lose the last Netflix movie they sent (and didn't even get to watch it!) and will have to pay for it before they'll send another.
I have done that as well. They wanted me to pay like $20 for the movie. I went to walmart and got it cheap, emailed them that I had found the movie but not the sleeve. They sent me a new sleeve and I sent the walmart movie back to them!!
The best joker ever. And the scariest Stevie!
Ah yes Ned and Stacy I couldn't remember that one. Thanks that brings back some funny memories.
I really like the first Batman too. It will always be my fav. Ledger was just plane weird as the joker to me. I couldn't focus on the movie really with some of the idiosyncrasies he had during it. But don't let that stop you from seeing it. It was good just weird.
I honestly had a hard time after Broke Back seeing anything else he did. I thought it was a really interesting movie but it just stuck in my brain.
I love Sam Elliot's voice. I could listen to that man all night long.
Jack Nicholson's version of the Joker was more like the actor in the 60's Batman TV show.
Heath Ledger(I think I spelled it right) had a more believable take on the ENTIRE persona of Joker. In the comics and in the history that is the Batman universe, Joker is said to be a sadistically violent sociopath. I honestly believed that in the Dark Knight. There was no rhyme or reason for his actions, he just did what he wanted and if you remember he only killed two people himself. One in the beginning at the bank heist. And the other when he made the pencil "disappear".
All right now, no more spoilers please! I'm going to have to get my Netflix account into gear.
Ok, no more
I'm pretty die hard to when it comes to movies. Much prefer to watch a movie that TV.
My daughter just graced me with my own copy of Public Enemies to add to my growing Johnny Depp collection last night. I've seen it twice already and will watch it again.
Hi, fellow tribesmen...and tribeswomen. Did we scare Hmr away??
I was hoping I would find it! I can't figure out what on earth happened to it!
I'd hate to think that one of my friends stole it
Just got here too. Finally in the middle of a new hub. It going to be bad!
@ friendly: Hi there *hugs*
@dave: Me too...I kinda feel bad about losing their movie. Although, I've paid for it by now.
Friendly good to see you unfortunately I'm calling it a night. Got early mornings all this week which are killing me cause I am so not used to it.
Kisses everyone.

I've just received word that I've qualified to receive some "assured long-term" benefits for disability - on an application process that took over 2 years and many individuals/professionals as advocates' assistance. This means that I can evade the constant worry of homelessness, so long...

Wrote a new hub this afternoon, just for fun. It is topical, relating to a new news item today. Would someone like to read it in it's entirety and comment, please? Pretty please? I don't usually do 'satire' if that is what it could be described as, should I leave it as it is, or go a bit further...

I have two hubs up so far. I am not entirely sure what a great ranking would be considering that they are quite new, but they are both above 60. Is this pretty good for newly established hubs? I would appreciate any feedback on my work and what can be done to improve for the future, as well as...
