    Hi Hubbers,

I'd like some help with passing the Quality Assessment Process. Will you please give feedback on my article Browse Safe And Stay Secure Online. What can I do to improve? Thanks!

Miebakagh, I scanned your article and noticed several ways you can improve it. Exchange the images that have a time stamp and find better ones, particularly the one with the box of wires. The formatting is inconsistent. The first half of the article has individual sentences and the second half has paragraphs. You’re better off with paragraphs except where you have a list.

Do you know how to make an anchor link within an article? You have whole links, which are not as neat in appearance as anchor links. When you are inside the edit box, highlight a word, then go to the top row of icons. The fourth from the right is a little chain icon. Click on that and put the URL in the suggested box.

Your verbs are troublesome in certain spots. For instance, “Malware spied on your computer and operating system, stealing your password and login ID.” The verb should be "spies." “Be aware that certain antivirus software vendors have standard malicious software that enabled virus, spyware, and malware to infiltrate your computer.” The verb should be “enable.” “Why I am writing this article for online visitors to take advantage of security features while online”   I would insert “is” after “article.” This sentence, “What anti-malware software install to protect your computer and its system is on?” may sound better like this, “What anti-malware software should you install to protect your computer?”

Hello Bede le Venerable, thank you for your comments.
I have begun to implement your suggestions.
I will also try to reduce the number of words to about 2560.
Presently, I am not at home with the anchor text link or formatting. But I will try soon, and also go online to learn more.
I ask that you tell me where to get a better free image online.
      Thanks again.

Pixabay is one among many. I've also found images on Wiki Commons but you have to read the license. Some require attribution and others are in the public domain.

Hello Bede, 'When you are inside the edit box, highlight a word, then go to the top roll of icons...' which word do I highlight? Just a word like a boy which I type? Help.
I also noticed it says insert/ edit link. When I click on it,  a page appears. Below save, I think is the small box?  I click on it and the  URL remains as a link text. Help. And thanks.

Miebakagh, suppose you have you have a link to another site or one of your own articles. You can make one or more words in a sentence a clickable link, so that by clicking on the word, the reader can go to the suggested site. For example, make a sentence such as “Here is an article that explains more on computer viruses.” When you are in edit mode, highlight “article,” or any word in the sentence, and then look up top in the edit box. There’s an icon that looks like a little chain (it’s the fourth from the right.) Click on that chain icon and put in the URL in the suggested box.

This youtube video by another hubber explains the above process…

You need a good link or the anchor link won’t work. If the link is good then you won’t have any problems. I hope that answers your question…glad to help.

I’m not exactly sure what you mean, Miebakagh. Are you writing a different article or shortening the present article? If it’s the latter, yes, that’s a good choice. Also, reduce the amount of images. Sometimes having too many images is detrimental. Perhaps it’s best to contact me via “contact author.” However, I’m going to be out of the house for most of the day.

Hello Bede le Venerable, I sent you a message via, contact author link. Did you get it? How is your outside experience? Did you feel rejuvenated? I take it that you do.
                  Here is the message:
                  1. I am writing a new hub on antivirus.
                  2. The present article we are discussing is reducing words and images.
                  3. I hope for the new story to make the link to the present article.
                  Can this be right?
                  Thank you.

Hi Miebakagh, I’m sorry to say I didn’t get your message sent to my email. In addition, I’m only now able to get back to you since a work project is keeping me busy all day- I’ve barely enough time to eat lunch. Nevertheless, I’m happy with no complaints.

Regarding your proposal, I think it is good to start a new hub and reduce the words/images. If you wish to link back to the previous article, that’s fine. My personal recommendation is to take what’s good from the previous article and not link to back to the old one. Try to get all the essentials from the old into the new. But, you can do as you like.

Concerning anchor links, my personal preference is to keep them for the end of the article; otherwise, it can be distracting for the reader. I know other hubbers have many anchor links throughout an article, but it can be a nuisance, as in the proverbial “wild goose chase.”

Miebakagh, here is a worthwhile article that clarifies the proper use of images:

    https://hubpageshelp.com/content/Learni … -image-use

It explains how to give proper attribution as well as the different types of licenses. See if you can remove the date stamp feature from your camera. If you cannot, crop out the date. Do you have a photo editor? If not, GIMP is a free photo-editor that is trustworthy….no malware or Trojan horses.

I’m presently reducing the size of my images because large images slow down load-time. You can do that in GIMP and modify images in various ways, if the license permits.

Hello Bede, I think it was due to a flaky internet connectivity issue that you don't received my email. Or, it was the HubPages not responding well. Today, the net seems dark in the morning at my time 6.00AM? I am trying to find out all the challenges. I have also work my computer to a restore point.
I though you are just going for a free time to roam or picnic.
Please Bede, always have you meals regularly. Do you took your breakfast always in the morning? That will help you take your lunch.
I have noted your recommendations well. But since I am trying my first test on this anchor link question, I will ensure that in any of my related articles, I bear that in mind to pass the link test.
Thank you and enjoy the day.
