I guess it's probably just the rating part that Christy mentioned but I noticed today for the first time my answers each have a helpful button now. So answers are then ranked for each question based on number of helpful votes? What if all the answers get the same helpful votes or several do anyway?
I just noticed it now Natalie and if I press the "Helpful" button it changes to "Thanks".
Yes but you don't want to do that since it means you are ranking your own article.
omg! Natalie I was just curious what is behind the helpful button.
Hi Natalie,
I don't see a Helpful button yet. The questions which get the most views are listed from top to bottom, with the most popular ones at the top.
Interesting! I have yet to notice that. Well, it does seem to make it to where we should either not answer a question, or answer it as well as we can. One would not wish to have his or her answer deemed not helpful.
Indeed. I'm a bit worried that some may rank certain answers as "unhelpful" simply for differences of opinion.
For instance, if someone asks the question "Why do you think X is more useful than Y?", even if I construct a well-reasoned answer, it might be "unhelpful" because it doesn't match the viewer's thoughts. That said, getting upvotes may help increase traffic, so hopefully it'll prove worth it.
That "Helpful" button should have a question mark rather than an exclamation point. I wonder how many people will know what it means.
Just replace it with a "Paypal Donate " button
Ooooohhhh, I like that idea! With 100% of donation going to us, no split!
I pressed it too and it wasn't big and red with an inviting, reverse psychology "Don't Press This Button!" caption. So I was a bit disappointed with the response.
Interesting points, but Ianswer a lot of these and I feel we, the writers need a button also, and it should be labeled "Insufficient information to provide Answer" I write a lot on RV's and technical RV problems and I am getting a lot of silly questions. My first one this morning was' "Why is there a water line running through my closet?" These nonsensical questions distract me from the people who honestly need help.
DON
Probably better to just hide these questions; not much pointing to crowding a hub with useless questions that can't be answered.
Either that, or they ask the questions answered in an article. I just press the "hide" button. No point answering silly questions.
I do the same as well. Because sometimes I get questions that the answer is already in the article but it just shows they have not read my article but are asking silly questions. I just hide and not answer them. Mind you for those questions that I answered I got a helpful button.

Is it fair game, when another member take your question and make a hub out of it.I noticed that I asked a question and a member took my question and wrote a hub about it, is that fair game?

Is anybody else irritated that when answering a question, you get told the answer is too short?I have tried answering a few questions, and while I am not just writing yes or no, I apparently don't have enough words. I had a 6 word answer and they wouldn't accept it. Do you think that forces a...

Quick questions on new Q & A:First, I'm just curious about on average how long people's responses are. We've talked about making answers longer for quality and ranking purposes but I am not writing most as anything close to as long as a hub.Second, in regards to length - if I do write an...
