One was in the dark. Ask a question. How can a question ask in a forum discussion be dumb? Let's discuss seriously.

Not dumb, and I do not know if there's any meaningful purpose in looking down on others. We all have flaws, as well as something unique to offer.

It maybe that some questions can be seen as intentional, with a particular objective in mind. This may be perceived and frowned upon by the reader. Nevertheless, this platform is for all and we are meant to be well-intentioned and grown up writers.

I will say, though, that the same person asking a question, which can be perceived as having a potential to 'trouble' the psyche of another, can inadvertently make it difficult for another in need of serious help. Much love.

If it's asked by Das, you can bet your life it is a dumb question big_smile

Manatita44, I can appreciate you. I do not just imagine the question. It is real right in another forum discusion.                         I post a question about the TatRing update. I specific it to the moderator. Yet, a fellow hubber label it "dumb."   But I still need an answer.

Doesn't sound like something I can help with. Yet I empathize with you, as 'dumb' carries with it a subtle feeling of 'I know better than you do' attitude and demeanours or belittle the individual. Your case is probably a good example.

Customer care, in any good organization, warns us about this, but a sincere Heart understands.

      Lol.

Agenda, perhaps, but not dumb. But I'm happy to be wrong. Much Love.

Manatita44, you're cute. But I opined if Das will brhng in a crazy agenda as his last was, can we guest what I'll do? Delete it! Be one of the very first to do it. Then you'll be happier to be right! Blessings!

Yes, we may find it necessary to delete things for one reason or another. Perhaps that's even healthy. From a spiritual perspective, our intentions should still remain pure. Empathy is a large part of daily living, let alone spiritual living.

It is a bit like having so called 'bad' neighbours. No one is asking us to hug them, but we can send out loving kindness in our prayers. Peace.

Bev, of what use is Das here in the forum? I noted he has taken a casual leave of absense.   I would not bet with my life if he ask a dumb question here. I'll just delete it into the thrash!

Miebakagh, I just looked at the thread that you are referring to. The person was saying that their own question might be dumb. They weren't referring to your question or you.

      You are wise, Linda C.

I thought of this only after answering. It is always good to see the other side of the story too. Much Love.

Alicia, yes and agreed that the person is not refering to my question or to me, how can their question be dumb?          Or lol!

"This may be a dumb question, but..." is quite a common expression in English. "This may be a stupid question, but..." or "This may be a silly question, but...." are sometimes used instead.

I can't comment about why the writer used one of the expressions, but in my experience they are used to indicate uncertainty, to ask for clarification, or even to express embarrassment about not knowing an answer. The expressions are one way to introduce a question. I use the third one myself.

Yes, Alicia is right. I have also seen this thread. The person said that his own question might be dumb.  He/she was not saying anything about you.

Moondot, welcome to the forum discusion.         Alicia is right. But I opined no question for the sake of an answer can be dumb unless it is for an hoax!

People don't have enough answers. With that, it's always good to ask a question no matter what. The communication is important.
