No videos on Owlcation. I'm using Edge on Windows 10, no adblockers. Plus other serious layout and text issues. I'm getting a bit nervous - many students returning to college, school and uni over the next few days and weeks and they've been a loyal bunch of readers. Hope they don't desert....
Good news! we've found a fix for those in the EU. Created a new thread here: https://hubpages.com/community/forum/35 … ost4170457
Yes, I just checked and my video on a recipe was gone. It was bad enough when they were leaving headings and my polls were missing. Thanks for the alerting me. What are you doing about it? The polls I deleted my headlines.
I mistakenly put this under "HubPages Tutorials and Community" rather than "Technical Questions". It's a pity we can't edit categories fter posting. I think the team read posts on most of the forums eventually though.
The Technical thread specifically says it's staff-monitored, because the others aren't. It's rare now for staff to look at other sections of the forum, unless someone reports something to them. They don't have the staff.
I'd suggest posting a rollup post (referring to your detailed individual posts) on the "Important Network Site Update" thread, where everyone else is reporting the bugs
I can put this under technical questions for you.
Ii just tested it on several browsers. All my videos are working. However, I noticed that the start time (when specified) is not obeyed on Maven. The video starts from the beginning. When I view it on HubPages, it starts where I intended.
Eugene, this might be the same problem you’re having with the different Ad blocker than I use. Try disabling it to see if the video plays.
EDIT: I just tested with the Avast Browser. And the video is missing. So that narrows not down. It IS INDEED the same problem with certain ad blockers.
I checked and the video is still missing even with the ad blocker turned off.
Our team is on it—we apologize for concerns around content performance and earnings. Our team is actively working through several technical issues and our ads team is aware of the situation as well. We are working to resolve this ASAP.
The latest version of Chrome, WIndows 10 and Germany, no videos and ads showing on my Owlcation hubs with and without Adblock; with and without Ghostery.
I checked while running a VPN and using a US based server. Both ads and videos display ok.
In addition to various ad blockers and browsers working differently, VPN must be another issue that’s part of the puzzle. That’s why everyone has different experiences.
Yes, my video was missing on a Hubpages article just accepted yesterday by Delishably, leaving the caption looking not only irrelevant but with loads of white space around it. There seems to be double white spacing in lots of places, making the article look almost incoherent. I tought it was something to do with their edits, but clearly bigger problem than that.
The is a great deal of white space on my Owlcation. articles that have been transferred
And videos are not displayed when accessed via Safari.
Yes, my articles on Spinditty are not showing videos (although I can still see them in Hubview), no matter how I try to access them.
Is there any update regarding this problem?
Thanks!
I just tried one of my music hubs using Chrome. My videos on that hub are working as expected.
Six weeks later and still, none of my videos are showing on niche sites!
Example from youmemindbody
Too busy placing irrelevant videos on top of our articles?
This unacceptable incompetence is ruining my reputation and my income.
My earnings have gone down from 3 digit numbers per month to a meager payout every three months, w.t.f. is going on?
We do our job, why can't the Maven engineers team do theirs??
1. make sure you consent to the site's policies
2. It might be location-based; see our forum post about third-party embeds; YouTube is a third-party embed
3. make sure ad blocker is off
4. make sure you are using a supported browser:
We prioritize browser support on Chrome (desktop/mobile), Safari (desktop/mobile/tablet), Firefox (desktop), Edge (desktop), Samsung (mobile). Bowsers like Avast, which are not fully supported might experience some degradations.
make sure you consent to the site's policies. Surely no site doesn't support videos. To expedite the site migrations in Phase I, for example, we pointed back to the HubPages frontend code by doing what we call a “third party embed.” This temporary path makes HubPages features available this obviously doesn't apply to videos to readers while we work on longer-term solutions. Unfortunately, readers who use ad blockers I don't use AdBlocker or Avast Secure Browser I use Chrome are not only blocking ads, they are also interfering with our ability to ask for reader consent to run these various features (as required by the data privacy laws). These short-term tradeoffs, however, are worthwhile in the greater scheme of work required to support our consolidation efforts.
When an article relies heavily on video explanations the missing videos simply destroy the entire piece. Samantha, can you please confirm that the videos will, at some point not in the too distant future be visible to all our readers?
Ok, thank you for verifying. We have the item ticketed and we are looking into it.
Please be mindful that I am relaying everything I know here but I do not control engineering priorities. The engineering team, etc. does not access this thread—we relay all feedback to them. I understand your frustration, but we ask that all community members speak from a place of patience and understanding, as I have no control over the situation and I am doing my best to accommodate everyone in the forums.
Oh the irony. We've got a video we don't want, plastered over the top of our Hubs, but the ones we DO want aren't visible.
Of course, we don't blame you personally Samantha but your job is to help us communicate problems to the team until they are resolved and it shouldn't take more than six weeks to fix such an important issue.
Irony indeed Marisa.
Considering that one of the articles in question used to be my best performing one with 1,591,270 views to date, the financial loss from videos not working surely affects our bosses (the whole company) just as much as us writers. It is therefore in both our interests to fix this major problem to remedy an unacceptable lose-lose situation.
I am too missing all the videos I produced specifically to accompany my articles including videos on how to train dogs certain skills and tricks. I feel that these accompanying videos benefited my articles in many ways such as outranking copycat websites who were lacking them and also considering the fact that many people are visual learners, and therefore, after reading the article, they are able to fully comprehend and follow the dog training steps along. Not to mention it looks silly that the articles states: " Below is a video of the conditioning process" when there is just a big blank box. I hope staff will be reinstating them soon.

I am absolutely distraught. Some of my best hubs contain youtube videos. I have found that anyone logged into hubpages can see my videos without any problem. Today my Dad happened to be looking at my hubs and said "there are no videos here". Stunned, I went onto hubpages and logged out of...

Hi, my lenses were imported yesterday and the lenses that had YouTube videos are not showing the videos on the Hub versions. The original video module title shows on the hub, but no video. I haven't checked all of them yet, but this affects at least 8 of my hubs and I haven't found any...

I just tried to publish my first article and it received a substandard ratings. I then got a form letter email that said absolutely nothing. In the email it referenced a website that I referenced but that's it. It's not a subversive site or anything, in fact its a website put up by the american...

YouTube says I can't download their videos. Is this true? I've seen YouTube videos on other people's hubs. Must I purchase them or what? (I hope I don't seem totally clueless.) Please help.

I just got an email from Youtube that some of my videos may be eligible for Adsense. I logged in (not using the link provided just in case) and was able to 'add' my adsense to my account.Has anyone had any success with Youtube videos? I only have two so far - and they are connected to a couple of...
