Some of the good articles of fellow members get shifted to network sites but when I read them there then I do not find find the comment box below them. If I want to comment what to do?

You could use "contact the author." This is causing a significant problem. The powers that be are aware but it isn't a top priority for them.

You are right that it might not be important for those in the higher strata but what about the mediocre ones? Does not it provide them the little joy?

To be honest, I'm not too keen on the comments function, and I hope for it to be gone for good.

I don't get that many, and more than half of what comes through are meaningless praises meant as excuses to spam links.

Worse, a couple of the latter somehow got through for some of my hubs, even though I've set all comments to be held. This hit my traffic and score quite significantly for a while, till I discovered them.

PS: I recently did a write-up for a SEO agency and they consider every word on a page in their optimization efforts. In other words, they evaluate keyword density by counting all text on a page, including those from ads and comments. Feels too aggressive to me, but I experimented with some hubs using their method, and my rankings marginally improved.

It is really disheartening to know that they can affect the traffic. My concept was they are neutral things just sitting there.

Yeah, I thought they were neutral too. But in the case of spam links, I think there is at least some form of damage, since they are, after all, active.

Though comments from the known fellow hubbers would be a welcome, but what I think is that it would be better to delete comments coming from unknown sources.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if comments do affect SEO.

Too many new writers, including those here, spam their own articles with insipid, this-is-so-great fake comments. Who knows whether Google decided this should be a penalty, and in incorporating that into its changes, decided all meaningless sentences should have an impact.

Oh, yes, Google has its own way of finding the spam. Thanks for sharing so many points.

You should never allow links in the comments unless they actually add to the article.

I didnt allow them. Somehow they got through without me approving.

Weird. I wonder if we've all got some like that.

This is the reason I want comments turned on. It adds a lot more content in the form of conversations.

I had noticed this too recently. I am pleased to hear that it will be temporary.
