Hello Beautiful souls,
I wrote an article today which was about Shams Tabrizi's 40 Rules of Love. It was a review. I chose to write on 12 rules out of 40 rules and explained each rule in detail. The readers also enjoyed reading it, after about 12 hours of publishing it. I received an email from the HubPages team that the article is getting Plagiarized elsewhere. Upon checking, I found out that the article was getting Plagiarized just because of the rules of Shams Tabrizi that I was using. I used those rules as his sayings and were in Italic font.
The explanation and review of every saying were all my own words and were Unique. However, after getting the same message of duplication twice from the HP team I deleted the Hub.
It happened to me for the first time.
I want to know, Do HubPages don't allow us to use the quotes and sayings as they are. Or is there any other technique to do it
Thanks a lot!!
Hi Misbah, sorry to hear your article has been hit with a duplication violation. I had that happen to one of my articles about Mark Twain. I had a section about his famous quotes and included many of them, so was told too much of the content was duplicated. I ended up having to get rid of most and I felt it really weakened the article.
You can try to write each rule in your own writing and just changing them a little, or maybe try having each as a “call out” followed by your explanation..maybe that will pass but I am not sure. Failing that you can try emailing the team and asking what to do. I never had the chance to read the article mentioned. Good luck.
Misbah
It has happened to me too.
I hate the duplication rule.
I try to use the callout.
But I'd imagine that only works for a few quotes.
I hate that you put so much work into and then deleted it.
Next time try emailing the team at Hubpages to see if they have any suggestions.
So sorry, Misbah. That was an excellent article. Perhaps, as Brenda alluded, it was too many quotes? Do contact the Hubpages team as they can advise you. They are very good at responding. I hope you kept a copy of it in case you can republish it.
Thanks a lot, Peggy. Yes, your comment was there on the article. You have read it. I do have a copy. I will republish it. I think as Brenda and John suggested. I can use call-outs and will use fewer quotes like 8 maybe. And will send an email To the HP team.
Thank you so much
Blessings and Love
Misbah, I had the same situation happen with my Abert Einstien article. It's full of quotes by him. I contacted HP and told them my dilemma.
I believe Robin, who is no longer at HP, wrote a message on my article that only editors and I could see. It said that the article passes QA because it's Einstein's quotes that are flagging plagiarism, and the rest is original content. It became a feature and is now on Discover.
Also, other writers write articles on quotes all the time. They get approved. I would send an email to the editors. It sounds like an exception. I hope this helps.
Thanks a lot, Kenna. Yes, I am going to republish it today and will send an Email to the HP team to bring in their notice that the only thing that is getting Plagiarized are the rules that are the sayings of Shams Tabrizi.
Yes, I have seen a lot of writers writing just quotes and getting those articles not just approved instead those articles are getting transferred to Holidappy.com
I also have an article on Turkish proverbs which was transferred by the team to Holidappy but I believe as those proverbs were then translated by me so, It was not a case of duplication. Much appreciated
Blessings and Love
Maybe what you could do is use far fewer than 12 quotes in an article—perhaps as few as three or four. Then you could go into more detail about each quote than you did before (if this is possible) or give other information so that your own words form a large proportion of the article. If that’s accepted, you could then do the same with another small group of quotes and repeat the process until you’ve covered all of them.
Thanks a lot, Linda. Yes, I was using 12 sayings. Maybe, I can reduce and will just keep 8 of them and will use call-outs for the sayings. I will send an email to the HP team when I will republish that article to bring my problem to their notice. I hope it will help but using just 3 or 4 sayings, I believe, will weaken the article structure as John has said before.
Much Gratitude.
Blessings and Love
Salem Misbah,
I can understand that what you are feeling now. Because it takes a long time to write a well-researched article.
Thank you for the help, everyone. I just published the article again and sent an email to the HP Team. Plus, I have mentioned back all the comments that were already there in the previous article that I deleted. I hope, everything will be all fine now
Here's the link to the new article: https://hubpages.com/literature/A-Revie … ms-Tabrizi
Lots of Love and Blessings
The article just moved to discover but still is in pending mode. I haven't yet received any reply to the email I have sent to the team. I hope it will not get unpublished this time.
I just saw your thread right now. I guess problem is solved and your article is featured now. Isn't it?
Congratulations on getting the article featured, Misbah! It’s a very interesting and thought-provoking article. I’ll comment on it if I see it in my feed.

Like some other contributors in this forum, I've also just had an article suspended for "duplication". This is an article on grammar rewritten from a small section of my own much longer article on EzineArticles. I modified just about every sentence, changed examples, added content, etc....
