Hi all! We're currently experiencing some issues with our product capsules, but we're working hard to get things up and running again as soon as possible. In the meantime, don't worry if you see a "No Amazon products found" note when trying to add a new product capsule or find that a product capsule is missing altogether. Our engineers are on it smile

(PS in-text Amazon links are still working fine.)

My understanding was that we were told to use in-text links, so I gave up using capsules years ago.

Paul, I recall all the ruckus over using Amazon capsules. I stopped using everything years ago. I thought at some point HP said we couldn't use them anymore. I don't have one article with a product. I deleted them all. I miss the extra pennies but it wasn't worth the hassle if I didn't have an acceptable personal review. I may rethink using the in-text links now.

Everything should be working properly now smile If an Amazon product still isn't rendering correctly in one of your articles, please let us know.

As for using in-text product links vs. product capsules, there's a right time for both. While we generally suggest using an in-text link because it looks cleaner, there are certain situations where a product capsule works as well (or is even preferable). Here's what we have about product capsules in the HubPages Writing Style Guide:

We prefer in-text products to Amazon Capsules since they look more elegant and less spammy, so use these whenever possible.

In some cases, is it okay to leave a product in an Amazon Capsule: If the reader will want to see the image of the product, for example, or if it adds visual interest to the page. If you have a detailed and personal description attached to the Amazon product, that might be a good reason for using a capsule instead of an in-text link.

Thanks, this is good to know. I hadn't reviewed the protocol in years.

Thanks, I'll have a look at the style guide and see if I should make any changes, there are a few possible situations, it sounds like.

This gives me a better perspective on using capsules verses in-text. Thank you.

This is great news. I just checked how Amazon capsules are rendered now with the Avast browser, which used to block Amazon capsules. Now they appear. Great! smile

That might also mean that they are rendered now in the UK, where they used to be blocked. But we would need someone from the UK to confirm that.

Looking at my Amazon reports, I suddenly had 21 sales yesterday. Not yet shipped so the revenue is not posted yet. Whatever you did seems to have a great affect on Amazon capsules. I hope that's not a fluke for just one day. smile

By the way, I use capsules and in-text, together, in some of my Amazon related hubs to compensate for the capsules being blocked in the past. I guess the editors understood that because they never were snipped.

The capsules do perform better for me. That might be because I include my own description in the capsules, with the "buy now" button below that. It's less spammy-looking that way.

It depends what the 21 sales are though. I don't want to be "Debbie Downer" but I've had a lot of people doing their shopping online since the pandemic started. You get lots of sales but only a few cents! Sometimes I think I'd rather they bought just one big thing! Hehe! smile

I can't see which items sold yet, not until they are shipped. For now, it just shows how many were ordered. But if they are the usual items that I review, I get nice residuals from those. smile

If the delay in shipping is any indicator, I can assume they are the usual orders I keep having. I noticed Amazon has been slow with shipping those particular items lately.
