Did any of the Hubbie (that how you spell it?) winners get their swag?

I had someone from The Arena Group email me to get my address some time ago, which made me laugh because that was the first time I received the knowledge I won something, but I have yet to get any notification from the post office that anything was sent. Has anyone else received their, "swag," yet?

I plan to do a personal article on it if ever it gets delivered.

I'm curious to know what the Hubbie Award is this year. When I won mine years ago, it was a mug with the words TurboFuture on it (that's where the winning article lived) and a HubPages t-shirt. I think it was a couple of months before I received them.

I hope they send me a mug covered in the SARS-CoV-2 virus decals, or a virus-shaped plushie since I won most likely to go viral. That'd absolutely make me chuckle.

With how long it takes them just to update the community on goings-on, I figured it'd probably take months before seeing anything in the mail.

Hi Kyler! Thanks for checking in. Your swag will be shipped out soon, but due to shipping delays, it may still take a little while to get to you! We appreciate your patience smile

I haven't received anything. I'm kinda hoping the "swag" doesn't show up; I'd love to see what you write.

I was feeling the same way until I thought, "Well, I could probably work a vanity article out of this just to blow off some pent up steam."

It took me two days just to decide whether or not I wanted to give them my address. The person who emailed me got flagged by the AI as possible phishing, and I had to do some digging to see if it was even a legitimate email. It was doubly suspicious because the individual had no official picture in their email profile, but it was legitimate and I opted in.

With the bit of effort I've now put in, I'd be a bit disappointed if nothing ever came of it.

I can’t recall even getting an email, unless it went to my spam folder. I think I replied to the official forum post where the winners were announced and they advised us to send an email with our postal addresses.

I didn't even know there was an official forum post, LMAO! It would seem much less effort was put into these Hubbie awards than in years past now that I am looking into it.

There you go Kyler. It is getting shipped soon. I am sure mine will take longer having to be sent all the way to Australia.

If our media is to be believed, I'm surprised Australia will even let a delivery from us through customs.

That's good to hear, because our media is pushing the perspective that Australia is going full authoritarian state over COVID regulations. Though disappointing for my country, it is relieving to know that the news is still trending downward as it concerns its accuracy and worth.

That's what I got years ago too, when I won a Hubbbie award. I also received a HubPages t-shirt. Did you, Keith?

I got a tee shirt a couple of years ago. This time it's a coffee mug and a key chain.

I received mine as well, and I thought it was broken at first because of the rattling in the box.

Hopefully I get some time to sit down and take some pics for the purpose of doing a vanity/shoutout/appreciation article on it.

Kyler J Falkposted 2 years agoin reply to this

Yes, I needed to set aside some time next year in order to avoid it cutting into important events. It is scheduled, though, and I will be able to do it without any interruptions, crises, or foreseen interruptions. Barring any serious upsets that bring me to change the timeline, it oughta be both fun and interesting.

Kyler J Falkposted 2 years agoin reply to this

I haven't decided what would be both fair and effective for the endeavor. On one side, I would like to expose the conditions and treatment that people face on the street, so a digital recording device that does audio and video would be best for that. However, I feel that it would be an unfair advantage if it was anything more than a digital camera, and I'd rather not lug around and protect a camera for weeks while also having to spend time charging it somewhere.

I was thinking that since almost everyone has a smartphone these days, it may be appropriate if I carried one that has no SIM card, but I'm still deciding. I'll definitely be carrying a written travel journal just to keep track of locations, names, and small thoughts.

Kyler, I enjoyed reading your Hubbie award article today. I had a great time reading it. "Glitter is a mass-destructive weapon." I agree, that's exactly what it is.  Thank you for sharing your experience about being banned from Hubpages. I sincerely appreciate and respect honest people, so I respect you as well. Honesty is important, and I am grateful to have an honest friend like you. Not everyone has the bravery to say it, but I have seen you welcoming others to criticize you, which I have always liked and appreciated. Possibly it's because of this that you've gone viral and are admired by members of the community. Questioning is not a negative thing in my opinion, but authorities dislike rebels. Living as a rebel is, in my opinion, the ideal way to live. Some people, I believe, are just punished for doing less. smile
Once again thanks for sharing. Take care and stay safe.
    Best wishes and Blessings!

Thank you Misbah, to be fair, Matt banned me when questioning something because I referred to him as, "Our dear overlord," and it was called a, "personal attack."

I read your article as well, Kyler., and enjoyed it also. It sounds like you could have also won an award for “the most honest hubber” but then what would you do with two cups?
In previous years the mugs were of a substantial size,  stoneware and not made in China (as far as I remember). Still, we didn’t get a keyring, or a card that I can recall, so those are good..glitter and all.
Are you sure there wasn’t an encrypted message in there about when comments will return?

    1. Kyler J Falk profile image90
Kyler J Falkposted 2 years agoin reply to this

      LOL

I wish there was a message somewhere in there, but perhaps it is an unspoken one within the quality discrepancies between the years' rewards. Even though they put less effort into this year's Hubbies, it was nice to be a part of it.

I can't help but keep laughing about being the, "most likely to go viral," during a pandemic. It's either poor choice in titles, or perfectly timed humor, but it has me chuckling when thinking about it either way.

Have we figured out concretely if commenting on things in the forums is going to get us beaned by the powers that be?

      1. Jodah profile image90
Jodahposted 2 years agoin reply to this

Yeah.."viral" is a topical word at present. It doesn't look good about commenting in forums. Check out the reply Misbah received to her query:

I received my package a couple of days ago. Staff had contacted me to advise they couldn’t post to a P.O. box so they needed my home address. It arrived about a week after providing that. Thank you HubPages. The card was especially nice.
